The underlying problem is in cash flows.  More money is leaving bitcoin than coming in so the price is sliding... what will turn it around?

I agree with this.  Money is leaving the alt scene in general.  I do think this trend will turn-around and relatively quickly.  It will take a few more successful alt coins to come out of the woodwork and become known about.  Right now, if anyone outside of us "undergrounders" have heard of anything it's usually only Bitcoin.  Up until December of last year, I had no idea that any others existed.

I wonder if the bad economy we're all in right now is playing a part in the recent BTC price.

"Profit motive" will turn the market, where Fear cools off then 'Greed' gets to take over.  Smiley

What do you think?  Is the current price drop related?

hum...

i don0t think so...
nothing related between mintpal/moolah problem and bitcoin fall...

the problem on mintpal V2 have been known for a long time ...
and the bitcoin has had time to activate a $ 470 ...
now fell back ..

so, mintpal / mullahs ... I do not think that they are responsible.

It could very well be. Specially sites/altcoins that end up as scams. This is because, these people run away with 1000's of coins at times, and that amount is enough to manipulate the price. Even the sale of Ethereum(not a scam), might be partly responsible for the price drop because the developer sold some of the coins.

Could be part if it yes, but overall I think it's more due to many factors (manipulation of market being the biggest), but also other areas of BTC changing.
