One of the reasons I invest in Lite coin is the high level of liquidity and the large market cap of this cryptocurrency. There are currently around 84 million Lite coin supplies and the rewards from mining Lite coin are quite large today.
By ranking the top 6 alt coins on the CMC list, of course, there is no reason for us not to trust Lite coin as a promising investment asset, even though currently the price of Lite coin has decreased,of course it is a natural thing to happen in every trade on the exchange market and some alt coins too Experiencing the same thing now and maybe this is due to the frequent occurrence of rally prices on bitcoin in this week.

Yes, seeing that there is a little price movement in Litecoin for the first time in years. this should be for traders. Also major top business companies that recently started to accept cryptocurrency as a means of payment has also added Litecoin to their list of cryptocurrency that can be use on their platform. so gradually, crypto is gaining adoption and litecoin is getting adopted as well.

Litecoin price may rise next year.

We are now seeing bitcoin prices rise.  In the Aftertime, investors will look for similar investments.  Litecoin is a cryptocurrency similar to bitcoin, it can be called "cheap bitcoin".

PayPal customers can trade not only Bitcoin (Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum), but Litecoin as well.  This means that Litecoin is among the four most significant cryptocurrencies.

Perhaps in terms of making a profit, a mid-term investment in Litecoin is more profitable than an investment in Bitcoin.

This coin is not bad. Even if no one continues to improve this coin, it will remain on the market. A good example is Dogecoin.
You just need to remember that LTC is not a self-sufficient coin (as Bitcoin fork), and the effect of each subsequent halving can be reduced.
Not really bad mate, becasue this(LTC) coin has been one of the most looking and promising coin in the past but the absence of the founders to improve on their jobs proved abortive, this kept many thousands of holders stranded after the Halving which happened August, 2020. But not withstanding, there is still some good news from the project becasue as the days gone bye the coin will likely increase in it demands.

From my own point of view litecoin is a good coin that have been in the crypto market for some years now but if your points are true that the owner have abandoned it then there is no point investing or holding it.

Are you sure the Litecoin owner has left the project?
Litecoin is an old project, if there is a rumor like this happening then this is a failure for the crypto currency world,
before, Bitconnect has turn scam, is now Litecoin?

I dont think you understand.  Satoshi left bitcoin does that mean bitcoin is a scam  Tongue

OP is just saying not a lot of work/commits have been done with the core code.  Bitconnect scam and Charlie lee moving on to other things other than litecoin is two wildly different things.  By the way this is not a new revelation with Charlie leaving

Of course, I still hold Lite coin as one of my investments assets, because Lite coin is one of the most trusted alt coins that also has a large market capitalization apart from Eth and BNB today, besides that Lite coin has a strong relationship with BTC and usually relly bitcoin will attracts the rest of the market next, but Lite coin (LTC) will be even harder. Because, in a bull market, investors will think of it as a cheaper version of BTC and fomo to it.
LTC is still the most popular asset on the market today. if you still have it it means you are still lucky. although in a few days or today the LTC market is a little bit not that good. maybe this is also the influence of the strengthening of BTC and the occurrence of several flash pumps that are happening to BTC. but for investment, I think LTC will remain the safest asset for us to hold.

Litecoin is one of the cryptocurrency that gained importance and is long standing in the market compared to many other altcoins that just exist and goes off from usage. Litecoin is good for investors who are capable of allocating atleast a bitcoin to invest. The growth hasn't happened big with litecoin over the years, to profit out of small price movements it is a must to invest on large volume of litecoin. Now the growth with litecoin is happening followed by bitcoin, but this isn't the same as the previous bull market growth.

Litecoin is an old coin that is traded on many big exchangers and has a large market cap value, I think this coin is worthy of being a long-term investment. Lots of old coins which I think at this point is a good time to buy because their price has dropped against Bitcoin and one of those coins is good Litecoin

If you could label a cryptocurrency as a copycat, then there is no coin more deserving for that label other than Litecoin. When Charlie Lee created the coin back in October 2011, he was quite straightforward about his invention. He was saying that his aim is to create a "Lite" version of Bitcoin, with a considerably larger total supply. If you compare LTC with BTC, there are only minor differences between the two currencies.

In short, there is nothing unique with Litecoin that ensures the long term survival of that particular cryptocurrency. We don't need a "Lite" version of Bitcoin, as BTC itself is lite enough for ordinary usage. So the main reasoning for the creation of Litecoin is irrelevant now. And as some of the users pointed out, the continued development of LTC has taken a back seat during the past few years.

Um you can say that about 99.999% of every coin.  Most are clones that serve no purpose at all.  Most are premined junk just to get the "developers" more bitcoin.  There are a very very few coins that serve a purpose bitcoin doesnt(yet) do but thats few far and between.

Litecoin serves as a good way to trasact when bitcoin is expensive.  Holds value and is cheap and fast to move coins around when needed.

This is your first post and it is about Litecoin, you are not new in this crypto world probably.
Well, actually, Litecoin is one of the old cryptos that we can find since like BTC and also ETH coming in. This actually has a great community and the trading volume is still good, the liquidity is also the same. But probably it is not like other coins where they can have a great increase and positive uptrend right now. Litecoin may work and run slowly to the market.

There might be no improvement on the technology behind it or progress for litecoin but it doesnt mean its worthless anymore.

Litecoin is already established and been existing for years. Though there's nothing much happening to ltc, investors are aware of its worth.

Im not a holder of ltc but if you believe in this coin then be firm to stay and wait until you see an acceptable price to sell.

There will probably be an altcoin pump season at some point in the next 18 months due to how well bitcoin will do.
Litecoin is definitely still a good asset to hold so don’t sell, only an idiot sells during times like this.

Many have been complaining about the stagant of litecoin but I know it's an old project standing firm because it became what it is now, and with look of things there's nothing to improve the But hopefully this market move will definitely put things in place normal. The price is already coming up better than before.

Lite coin profitable coin from other coin. Lite coin's futurte bright. Lite coin is accepted by PayPal and lite coin will be tradable. If PayPal starts trading cryptocurrency, the price of litecoin will boom. Litecoin has not shown a good move so far. So far it is possible to invest in litecoin.

The main problem of litecoin is that it act to be real as bitcoin but can in no way meet the standard of bitcoin, if it's not it,  it's not it. It picks almost all features of bitcoin but the growth  isn't it. But I suggest you wait a little more ,there could be an improvement anytime soon though at its own pace.it is a coin with potentials though, don't just try to measure measure the value of litecoin by Bitcoin to avoid disappointment.

If you investigate and see on this Altcoin board, not only are you complaining about one Altcoin (LTC).
Almost 60%, members here have the same questions about Altcoin, XRP, ETH, Waves, and so on, all prices plummet no progress for now.

I can only suggest a little of what I do with certain Altcoin investments, if you are in the world of crypto, especially in the field of trading and investment, the key, you have to be patient, especially the coins that you invest and have a targeted investment period.

There is a lot of news circulating outside of prediction experts about Litecoin's, for the future, it's just that you have to be patient and maybe the time is not right to push up the price against LTC.

There is yet no evidence that the team has abandoned the coin and I see no reason why they should do that, considering that this gone has come a long way and it is one of those with a considerable and appreciable level of growth.
My take is that, looking at how slow its growth had been all this while, it is possible they lack the technical know-how to enable it to appreciate in price, through the halving and other possible updates.

if you are looking for the utility usage as a reason and there is no a point from there but the only point to hold it to bet on the speculation of the litecoin as part of the top crypto. I thought that the majority of people are betting on the technical reason of litecoin because it has not utility usage.
This should be the main reason.

For me, Litecoin is simply one of the best-trusted cryptocurrencies. Often, it is used as a mediator in the exchange chains, when I cannot make a good pair of cryptocurrencies. Therefore, I will go on investing in Litecoin and holding it. Probably, this altcoin will become the best gainer, but it is reliable, and it will exist on the market for many years.

These are the reasons to hold litecoin
1.Its faster in transaction speed and cheaper fee too
2.Its an old grand daddy just like bitcoin so no risk like exit scams
3.Teams are already renovating litecoin from the beginning of this year
4.By 2020 litecoin might actually get implemented into a working product for means of payment hopefully

Holding litecoin isnt bad at all since its been around for a long time, its safer to invest in old strong crypto coins this days

There is a huge reason for investing into litecoin because it is the most innovative old coin out there. It improves it is blockchain like hell and always has a new thing up their sleeves but it is also 5+ years old (I don't remember the first day of it but I am pretty sure it is at least 6 years old). So, you are getting both a coin that is brand new with its tech and features but also an old one that everybody knows as old as crypto goes.

It is like getting a very old beetle and then basically renovating everything about it, from bumbers to engine to tires to basically everything including cars frame itself, literally a brand new one but it is just a beetle and still looks like a beetle, even though everything is brand new they are all still beetles parts. That is what I think makes litecoin so great.

LTC is a copy from BTC, I use to pay less taxes in small amounts transfers

But the devs could use LTC as experiments to use in BTC if succeed, like LN for example
Use another coins to test, verify, test again and if everything goes 100% right, deploy in BTC

Litecoin Is a strong investment and a long term investment precisely,  there is still lots of room for it to grow huge,
I agreed Litecoin was a strong due to what happened after it creator sold all his holding before he determines to take the coin the next level which was the exact reason why I choose not to invest in the coin anymore in other to play safe.

I believe that you won't have to regret buying it for a long term
We both know deeply what you just said is not guaranteed cause the previous decision made by the coin creator is enough.

This is Litecoin's repo:

https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin

it didn't undergo any improvements in over a year (all recent commits, that were over half a year ago, are all meta data). From what I undretand, its founder abandoned it.
There was a price hike due to the recent halving, but for the price to remain high or to increase, there needs to be a future to justify the mining and demand.
This doesn't seem to be the case, as the project is abandoned and stagnating.

So I'm asking, is there still a reason to be excited about or hold Litecoin?

I think the main reason is because this is one of the very old coins, and there are many Whales still holding LTC. Therefore, despite no updates on Github in the past 1 year, the price of LTC has increased thanks to Halving.

Litecoin is copy paste of Bitcoin.
Litecoin promises many cool features in the future, privacy second layer solution, credit cards.
But everything what can be built on Litecoin could be also on Bitcoin.
So Litecoin is only testing platform for Bitcoin new upgrades.  Smiley

Couldn't put it any better than this. Litecoin was one of the first copycat coins that plagiarized the idea behind Bitcoin, and still came to be regarded as one of the top altcoins. Just like you said, technically Litecoin has zero advantages over Bitcoin. The only thing I can think about is the transaction fee, but even in that aspect I don't think that there is a major advantage in using LTC over BTC.

My take on Litecoin is very simple. From 2011 to 2015, Litecoin remained as the no.2 cryptocurrency, despite its many weaknesses. Eventually, it was overtaken by other altcoins such as Ethereum and Ripple. Let's just admit that the peak period is over for Litecoin. It helped many investors to become rich (including me), but now it has hardly any future potential.

Nothing lasts forever
Litecoin is surely a good coin to invest in if you look at it from a speculative point of view but there are no serious developments taking place which makes it vulnerable to disruption.
So, we can invest in the coin for day trading and short term trading but it wouldn't be wise to invest in it for a long term.
If there are no developments planned then probably it won't survive in the long run. Not every coin can turn out be like bitcoin.

That will be up to people to hold litecoin or not. But for me, I still hold litecoin because I see that litecoin have a chance to increase higher, especially after the halving. Maybe I need to wait for a long time and will not see the price increase in a short time, but I don't mind to hold it for now. I think many people are doing the same and they still buy a lot of litecoin in the market because they want to make a profit from litecoin.

I would have to agree that LTC is just a silver to BTC gold. It just completed its block halving, so we need to wait before the price would pick up. Bitcoin didn't increase after the block halving, it takes weeks so I'm expecting that to LTC as well. But as far as development goes, LTC is just a guinea pig, sort of, but what makes it stay in the market is that a lot of gamblers are opting to used LTC as well, specially when the price of BTC is increasing. So even if there's no development, I'm sure LTC will remain in the crypto verse.

We should really look at Litecoin's long-term future, I believe they will have the strategy to push Litecoin's price soon.
We should keep and hold it until its price increases to about $ 150.
I'm quite serious about this because if Halving happens but the price doesn't increase, that's not reasonable. We need to wait patiently.

All investments in Cryptocurrency are no guarantee we will get high profits, because actually no one can ensure the price of Cryptocurrency will go up or not, because all of that is only a prediction and it can be right or wrong.  Even holding Bitcoin is no guarantee, because everything is volatile.  However, because Litecoin is one of the coins in the top rank, this coin is worth investing.

Abandoned by dev- with that alone you would able to answer your own question.Whats the reason for you to hold it up if you do able to see that there were no further developments for this coin? But somehow this coin is still tanking with rank top 5 overall which means there still enough support for this coin.

Although there is nothing much exciting about Litecoinfor now, and even the halving that I relied on had no effect on Litecoin, it was just as if the halving was made for bitcoin, instead of Litecoin surging, it was bitcoin that responded instead, and if not for the increase of bitcoin, Litecoin may not have seen its recent little increase.

I think if you are to hold Litecoin, it would be wise to just hold half of what you have right now and probably put the remaining half into bitcoin, although I am feeling that the altcoins season would be here soon, so alternatively, you could just hold it and wait for the altcoins season to come and increase the little it can increase, then you withdraw the whole altcoins before it goes back to bear market and keep you wondering for another long years.

The reality is, anyone who currently holds ltc will state it's a solid investment. Others may be a little more skeptical.

Right now in this market, anything but BTC seems pretty risky to me. LTC could certainly go up in the future, but at the same time it'll probably only do that by riding on BTC's coattails... which means one might as well just hold BTC instead.
all crypto coins are at risk, it's better to hold bitcoin. if in the end all the existing coins always follow bitcoin. for what holds other than BTC. Litecoin survives only because of speculation so it is difficult to say that this coin will be good in the future.

But, it's not a good idea when someone called litecoin as a utility token while it has nothing to do with what is the utility usage of the litecoin itself. Litecoin hodlers will never agree with it.
For me litecoin is not a solid investment and it has already explained very well by SEC if the coin that already filled all of requirements to be the utility coin is ether and bitcoin.
I'm thinking about what I can get from the token.

Of course! If we refer to LTC's data in  CMC in terms of market capitalization and volume and being among the top 10 cryptocurrency, then I say yes! it still is a very viable coin to hold. Though it has few improvements, its strengths lies on it being popular and also has a wide adoption base being one of the earliest crypto. Imho.

Disclaimer: This is not an investment advice. DYOR and invest at your own risk. Smiley
I think more like LTC will be replaced by another altcoin, in my opinion alt who has a future those who have a goal to be better in the future if they only have a large volume and enter the top 10 cmc will be useless without any future goals.  in 2 years if ltc without any major updates automatically disappears

Being logical, Litecoin is a project left behind by it's developer. It has no future as there is no leadership to give it a direction.
But considering speculation, litecoin is the best performing coin for investors in 2018 and 2019. It could still be a good investment for the rest of 2019.

Litecoin is a typical example of an altcoin. The only advantage for LTC is that it was created way back in 2011 and the promoters gave it a lot of publicity and hype back then. Until the creation of Ethereum in 2015, Litecoin was considered as the no.2 cryptocurrency both in terms of acceptability and market capitalization. But as you said, there is nothing unique about this project. It is just a plain copycat of Bitcoin and the promoters created it hoping that they'll also get rich by exploiting the popularity of Bitcoin.

Although it has no technical advantages over Bitcoin, over the years Litecoin has managed to build a loyal and large user community for itself. And this large user base is the only reason why the coin hasn't gone down as some of the other alts during the last 2-3 months. But the basics remain weak, and eventually I expect Litecoin to die slowly and get replaced by technologically advanced coins.

If you are to talk about technical advantages, isn't it that there are a handful of altcoins that can surpass Bitcoin on this? In terms of speed, fees, practicality in use, scalability, etc some altcoins are much better than Bitcoin. But look at where Bitcoin is. It is dominating in the market because of the community of loyal supporters. I can see this in Litecoin as well. The coin is one of the oldest and most used in real life. There is no reason why it will weaken as crypto adoption is growing fast.

Litecoin remains to me one of the most profitable altcoins.

Litecoin is the very first clone of Bitcoin, it was created to be a lighter version with more supply and as meant to be an alternative to Bitcoin, but as we all know there are a lot of Bitcoin fork and litecoin is struggling to have a place in the top 10 in the market, as many new coins are coming in with better features, chains, and large community support.

We can see Litecoin vulnerability as a strong coin when a new coin with good features can easily overtake it, from number 2 they are now in the 5th place and there's no guaranty that they will remain in that position as Binance coin and Eos are coming in closer.

Litecoin to me is so much like Dogecoin, a good old coin that's still worth adding to your portfolio.

Of course, we can wait for the Litecoin halving moment where on August 25th, Litecoin will do halving, and many speculations say that the price of Litecoin will increase dramatically after halving occurs. So I think the point after halving can still make you hold LTC as your investment.
Mate, Litecoin's halving is done. The next halving will be on 2023 of August. Check the schedule on https://www.litecoinblockhalf.com/
Litecoin for me as an investment is still good but don't put all of your money on it. Just put it as a process of diversification where you have to scatter your investments mainly on bitcoin and next with Litecoin.

If you analyse the journey of btc post halving you would see that btc remained in the bull trend for almost 1.5 years which also gives buy signal to atleast me for buying and holding ltc as post halving bulls have proven more potent but you need to be patient to reap good rewards.

August 25th? Not sure where you are getting that date from.

LTC just halved today. Personally I feel the price was baked in like 2 months ago, and folks have
just been taking their profits. Kind of risky to think it'll increase now (against btc), and not so sure against fiat either.

Smiley
