I don't think creating spammy half assed unfinished threads is a good idea. There is a preview button next to post so you can see what your thread will look like. It also saves them into drafts for you.

He can always delete them (if there are no replies), 'preview' is a good feature, but you can't test polls this way and that's what he mentioned in the OP

but still, using preview is the best idea.

For many things - yes, but how are you going to test polls, locking/unlocking, editing, deleting and moderating threads with 'preview'?

Hello,

I am a bit new here and wonder if there is a test forum where I can create new topics, polls and in general can try out things before I participate in 'normal' forum discussions.

Just go to off-topic board:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=9.0
and play around with creating threads, polls etc.

Great, thanks a lot.

Welcome!

You can always click preview before you submit a topic, so that it's not posted, and only you can see the words you just typed.

If you start a topic, poll, etc., you can preview it before you post it to make sure it looks right or appropriate for whatever you're trying to accomplish. You also have the ability to delete your own posts if you want.

Welcome to the forum!

Op. Using this forum is really simple and you do not really want to practice it. You will be fine with a basic computers knowledge. There is 'Preview" button when you are writing and editing your posts, you can press it and see how your post will be looking for others. After creating topic or writing a post you can also edit is as many times as you want so you can fix everything. Good luck!

You can put a short disclaimer:

"I'm just testing forum options, please do not reply" and delete it once you're done. That's just so the mods won't ban you for spamming (but there's high level of tolerance in off-top)

Welcome to the forum. No it does not exist, but you can read all the "help" page here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help  (maybe you can try in the Off topic section : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=9.0).
