If you are using an exchange to store your bitcoin the best way is to access your email or contact customer service this is the most efficient way to reach them they will ask for the information such as the name, contact number, email used, and etc.

If you are using a wallet like electrum the best way to get the seed phrase already given to you before creating an account, the password is useless with this kind of wallet because the most important is the seed, if you lose the seed without having a backup this is the most terrible part you need to guess or remember the seed. Ive seen a wallet recovery but never been use any of these.

Online wallets suck in almost every instances. At least, if you forget your password with a traditional Bitcoin wallet, i.e Bitcoin Core, and  Electrum then you can always just target the wallet.dat, and try different combinations of the password that you know that was in it. Its highly unlikely you forget the complete password, you will almost in all cases remember parts of it, even if that's individual characters.

If you are referring to a wallet, you already have many answers and options (?). I still believe though that by the term "Trust wallet" you mean the app "TrustWallet" and not a wallet that you reserve your funds...
If that's the case then your only option is to contact their support through their social media or by e-mail.
I missed this originally, wasn't sure what they meant by "Trust wallet". Although, if this is the case any half decent support wouldn't give up too much information, and would still require the password. I'm not familiar with Trust Wallet, but I know other wallets still require you to remember the password, but will send you your identifier / username if you've lost it.

Using a open-source password manager?
Preferably one that operates offline, and doesn't have any online components. LastPass for example. Personally, I believe far too many users are relying on online password manages when there are better options such as Keepass out there.

Your friend lost his password and is now asking how to regain access to his wallet, but what about you? You said that you never thought about what to do in case you forget your password either. To me, that sounds like you are memorizing passwords as well. Seeing what happened to your friend, have you taken any necessary precautions like writing the password down somewhere or using a open-source password manager?

Honestly I must say that I have no ideal on this one I nomally concentrate on the trading aspect I have never considered what would happen if I can't remember my password not on till recently a friend whom I introduced to the platform lost his phone and couldn't remember his password.

In this kind of situation are there hopes that the password can be recovered, if YES what are the procedures to regain it back.  Any advise you give will really be appreciated.
As said by other members if you have lost password of your wallet then you can try to do following things:

1) You can try to login with every possible password combination that you remember. This will take a lot of tries but you can be successful if one of the combination matches.

2)Try to use 12 word Wallet recovery phrase to extract the funds in the wallet

3)If you have stored your seed phrase on any place safe then you don't need to worry about your password as the funds can be extracted easily from your seed phrase to another wallet.

4)If you are facing difficulty in any of the above then you can try using decrypting services or if you have knowledge then you can try to do it yourself by using heavy GPU,latest wallet files and at least some words used in your password for brute force password decryption used by hackers.

But if you are unable to remember anything at all then it might become impose for you to get access of your wallet but you can surely go for paid service if the funds were huge but if doesn't matter then leave them as fees charged by them will be high.

Depending on how much of the password you remember its entirely possible to fill in the missing gaps. However, if you have absolutely no idea what the password is, it becomes highly improbable that you would be able to retrieve it. Generally, you want to only be missing a few characters at most.

For example, if you think your password had these characters in it: Passwrd

But, you can't remember the rest, but your convinced it wasn't much longer than that, then its entirely possible to bruteforce the rest of it: Password

It's also quite possible to guess the password if your missing a word. Especially, if you know what was in the password, but you can't remember the order of it.

Basically, there's various ways of actually getting the password, but it largely relies on you knowing most of the password, otherwise it becomes impossible. Plus, if you are looking for someone to do this for you, they are unlikely to accept the job, if you can't provide specific enough information.

@OP.
I'd like to remind you that since you've brought up this question and topic. You're prone to those scammers that might approach you to say that they can help you sort this out.
Neglect accepting any help from them if they're contacting you privately because they're aiming to take your private keys that you probably will be willingly to give to them because of the promised helped. You're fine getting some help on this thread alone since everyone can see those honest members that are glad to help you how to keep/recover your wallet through recovery words/passphrase.

Passwords are the least of the problem when it comes to cryptos and securities. What you should be more concerned about is the private key and the seed phrase. Now, its important to note that, while

The private key is more of an alphanumeric combination in no definite other but, follows an algorithm set for its generation,
The seed phrase on the other hand is either 12 or 24 words combined by an algorithm in such a way that, it doesn't make any sense and can't be easily predicted. Also, they come as a data set and follows a definite sequence or arrangement.

Either of these two can give you the access to a wallet with a lost password but, thats for non custodial wallets but,
For custodian wallets, its a different story all along. They don't come with seed phrases or private keys but then, you can get your chances with the support team. Though, its not advised that you store your coin in custodial wallets. Its more susceptible to hacks.

What's the name of the platform you're referring to?
am referring to my trust wallet.
The concept of the wallet transfers the authority of ownership of currencies to you.
the only way to access those currencies is to remember the wallet file, otherwise no one will be able to access those currencies.
If you do not remember the password, then you must own 12 wallet seed otherwise, you lost your coins.
Do you remember any part of the password? Or can it be guessed?

In that case, all you have to do is keep the recovery phrase in a safe place (write it down on a piece of paper).

If you haven't already, you can retrieve it by going to Settings > Wallets > Select wallet (by tapping on the three dots) > Show recovery phrase.

What's the name of the platform you're referring to? If we're talking about centralized exchanges (which is not recommended to use for storage) then all you would need is access to the email address you used and/or 2FA code.

If it's a non-custodial wallet, then that's what the seed phrase is for. It should help you recover your wallet even after forgetting or losing the password.
