Do you think ANACS would provide the data for us, say every quarter ? It should be just an easy report from their DB for them .... ?

For us we are building that report up from individual queries - unless some smart sort could use the ANACS references for each coin type we need, and script it ?

Manual seems a lot of effort, for it only to be right for 1 day

EDIT :-

Doing it ourselves would need you to use the public key as the UID. Tie to ANACS ref and grade. (would also show regrades then). Lot of work, never guaranteed to be complete (if those coins do not surface)

Wondering if we could scrape the contents of the ANACS DB, by doing a series of queries against ANACS reference numbers .... Wish they assigned references in any sort of order. Batches are consecutive numbers for each coin, but different batches dont have consistency (ie the next batch isnt guaranteed to have a higher number than the previous)

PS ... I may have done a little regrading of older graded coins (after they shifted the bar)

MJ, could do a spread sheet, have folks pay a small fee to access....Huh  On your site. But I agree, thats a lot of work.

Seems like a sizeable task but I'd like to see it too, problem is with the constant grading going on its a static report but either way good info to have.

This could be doable although I wouldn't want to charge something for access, maybe supported by prior vetted advertising (ie. not generic google ads).

I made that list that by finding an ANACS ref for one of each type of coin and plugging it in the cert lookup tool.

You could do that again for updated numbers.  Wink

I think all of us on the forum could do a much better job cataloging Cas. coins......
Considering the regrading and slab-mislabeling, I would think this population report is less than accurate...  A good indication, but def. not any kind hard numbers

Agreed especially with regard to re-grading. I know that was especially rampant during the ANACS "bump" from a couple years ago when the top grade shifted from MS67 to MS69/70. I've probably resubmitted 20-30 myself. Ballers like Blazed and monkeynuts have probably done considerably more...

Oh and I nominate Fattcatt and MJ to catalogue all forum cas coins.  Tongue

NOTES:
System likely does NOT account for coins that have been cracked and regraded (thanks ducatitalia).
2014: No unique ID for the St Petersburg Bowl coin.
2013: Does NOT distinguish between brass, silver, and gilt silver coins (but VERY likely all MS70s are silver).
2012: Does NOT distinguish between S1 and S2 bitnickels, or uniquely identify 10BTC coins in any way.
2011: Does NOT distinguish between S1 error and S2 coins, or uniquely identify 25BTC coins in any way.
"NO TITLE" coins in all years could be ANYTHING. I suspect limited to crypto-type "TOKENS".. but mint, denomination, type, etc are all unknown.
