I would have oreviiusly said it was naybe possible to contril the markets.
But for some low valued coins the pump and dump groups are able to control them to their own benefit.
In the case of bitcoin if a few whales were co-ordinated they could make an affect on it.
The real point is look what happened over the last two days from initially news from south korea which in effect turned out not to be the case.
It caused panic, like a stampede

Is there the possibility for someone to control the cryptocurrency market?
Yes it is possible for whales to manipulate cryptocurrency market because they can just buy huge amount of coin and the price of that coin will begin to get pump because they hold huge part of the supply of specific cryptocurrency and then those whales will just sell of it when people starts to buy the hype that is called pump and dump scheme. but it will be hard for those whales to manipulate market of coins that have huge community or investors like ethereum and bitcoin.

Is there the possibility for someone to control the cryptocurrency market?
To me it is very possible for some one to control crypto currencies market looking at the way all of them move this past 2 days that there is serious dump. Why is almost all of the coins get dump at almost the same rate? The whales that creates Fud and manipulate crypto currencies pricing are one body and they always decided of what actually happened in the market and control the coins price.

Is there the possibility for someone to control the cryptocurrency market?

Its not possible at all for one single individual to control the market. I still very much agree about group of individuals group of group of  individuals control the market. The crypto market has grown to a point where the wealth has spread across nations and countries. However, that does not mean that individuals can change the course of price for example, if someone should buy say 50000 bitcoins at 12000$, all other people will fall in line.

Well, certain coins can be centralized, and this is actually the case of a pretty famous coin Ripple. In terms of the entire market, I don't think any one entity can control all of the coins, but there can definitely be strong rules and regulations that cause major fluctuations. What we just saw (the drop) was pretty much linked to how China responded to BTC and their bannings. It seems as though China is trying to get their own centralized crypto started, so they're trying to get rid of all these decentralized ones as it gives too much power to the people. It's stuff like this that can shift markets, but generally I don't think one entity can control the entire market.

Is there the possibility for someone to control the cryptocurrency market?
It is not at all possible for any single individual or even a group of people to control crypto currency. It is because of the reason that all the crypto currencies which are there in the present world are decentralized in nature which actually mean that there is no one who can control them in any way. Due to this decentralized nature, more number of people are taking it as a good way of investing money.

Where is my ring of blades...
there are ways to control the price of cryptocurrencies, specially altcoins since they are far from being decentralized and they are mostly traded on centralized exchanges.

for example the most obvious way to do it is to pre-mine that altcoin, have some big investors like banks, run ICOs to gain a lot of money, .... generally any way that you can gain a lot of money and a big portion of the supply of the said coin. then you just have to be able to manage the money you have at your disposal in the best way possible. you can see how Ethereum foundation have been doing this well and have been advertising and pumping it.

another method which is one a larger scale is to have a centralized exchange with a lot of volume and a big share in the market. for example Mt Gox back in 2013 used to control 85% of the bitcoin trading volume and they manipulated its price. last year Poloniex had the same share of the altcoin market and controlled most of the altcoins they had >90% of the volume. but it shrank a little over the year but they are still big and capable of manipulating prices of lots of coins.

It is definitely possible but really hard. You need to have few billions of dollars to manipulate the market and to create a lots of fake orders. Which is theoretically possible but really really hard to execute. You need to have a big group with you who will actually go to the market and control the actual game for you. It is called pump and dump game but only with a large amount of investment and a big group's support, it is possible.

Is there the possibility for someone to control the cryptocurrency market?
Of course it is possible that cryptocurrency market gets manipulated and it is happening more often right now in majority of altcoins. The people behind this are called whales or group of big investors, and it is easy for them to manipulate the price of a cryptocurrency that have a low trading volume, they will buy huge amount of that coin and when small traders/investors follows they will dump the coin and repeat. And if you thinking how do they do buy and sell huge amount of coins with this exchanges, whales can also use over the counter (OTC) trading which they can buy and sell huge volume of coins without limits.

A market manipulation is definitely possible by big whales or exchange themselves but with more people joining the crypto market and hodling, It makes it very harder for them to do it as they will have less supply.

I don't think it is possible now to control this market by any one person or institute because it has grown up a lot so all these whales can do a short-term impact to the market but in the long run, I don't think it is possible to do it. Bitcoin alone itself over 230 billion dollar markets and after the last year boom many small investors are holding a lot of bitcoins so one or two people can't do much to impact this crypto market unless some bad news comes out about the cryptos.
