It would be better to test them first in front of seller because there are some seller sacrificing in meeting up even the cards are not running properly or defective.

yep i am planning on doing this although i havent figured out exactly how to do it. In theory i could bring my own rig, minus the cards, and hook it up. i dont really want to do that though.

anyone with craigslist experience have any tips?

It is a very very good price.
Too good to be real !

If you buy it from China, I see many people buy Graphic Card on eBay from China and it is fake.

If you are sure of the source, buy it !

Yes, saw this too - indeed some are stupid cheap. However, ebay isn't the best place for this scam, as buyers have full protection? How are they fake?

There is this ongoing scam in ebay from Chinese sellers from some time now. I was impressed at first when I saw Asus Rog Strix 1060 6gb for 100 dollars or less. These sellers send you a cheap chinese copy of some gtx 750 ti or something like that in the original box of the 1060. Many people have fallen for this.

Since the source is in Craiglist, grab it without thinking twice, even with Hynix memory is a deal.

The price of 1060 even it's Hynix memory the price is very cheap compared to market price. For me, if I found a seller that can meet up with that price I'll buy it once the seller is legit.

Yeah, if that is real, it really is an awesome price to get one. But like a lot of people here have said, there is a big possibility of this being a low-key scam. If you search GTX 1060 from eBay, you can see multiple listings starting from 60usd Cheesy

I found some 1060's for $165 each, that seems like a steal, what do you think? Not looking for an opinion on whether mining is bad or not
That's definitely a steal, even now that profitability is low, it's definitely worth to buy a few. However, the price sounds too good to be true, are they used? Where did you find them? From where are they shipped? There are a lot of knock-offs on eBay or AliExpress, that will even look identical when plugged on your PC but they are not even close to that.

never buy cheap stuff and check if they were refurbished or not!!!

You're going to have to be more clear if you want to be taken seriously. This sounds like "Never buy a good deal!", because things can be cheap or refurbished and still top-quality. You are not being concerned with the correct things. I very often buy "cheap" or refurbished, specifically because there is regularly no difference and people like yourself are afraid of good deals.

3GB versions are almost obsolete and not a good investment in my opinion.

That would entirely depend upon the price point, but saying that 3GB version are almost obsolete is either intentionally misleading or willfully uninformed. There are some really old, low GB cards that still output a solid hash rate and profitability. This is especially true when you take into consideration their low-price point and extremely low power-usage. They could potentially be a magnificent investment, if you have low-starting capital or are looking for a card good on energy consumption. They are profitable, and profitability makes a good investment in my book, so I'll have to disagree with you.

Says he tried to build a mining rig but couldn't get it to work. I'm going to go for it, see what happens.

If this was the claim for why they are selling their cards so cheap, then I would be suspicious of this. People don't just give up, because they can't get it to work in my experience. They would rather sit there frustrated for weeks than hand away a winning investment. I've never heard of such a thing, but that is just me. Definitely check the cards out in person and do everything you can to verify that they are not knock-offs and are genuine merchandise. There are a lot of fake 1060's, but most of them are easily noticed by their build-quality alone. Building a mining rig really is not that difficult of a task, so it would seem strange that this person is incapable of reading a tutorial or simple guide.

See what happens as you say, I'd be interested to hear how this turns out, because it is not unheard of. There is also the possibility that he mined his cards at maximum capacity and now he's selling you some fried cards.

I wouldn't take a 3gb with Hynix memory for free. Completely depends on what card and what memory it has.

Too suspiciously for me personally!
I would not have bought at such prices without looking at the equipment, on his condition! And I do not advise you to do this

Yes, the price is good, but I'm not sure which version is it? 3GB or 6GB? I guess this is for 3GB..
and if the cards are new and not refurbished, that is definitely  a steal. Buy it, and sell @ higher price LOL))
