I have a lot of money investing in coins.

If you got a lot of money to invest in coins then better be sure and learn to do some research for it and those the best of the best and has potential to keep on growing.

It does not make sense to invest in coins that are simply numbers

It makes sense, it's all about putting many eggs from different baskets and you will get an advantage for doing it.

Is this crazy? Or is it normal?

It's not crazy, it's a normal thing that most of the traders and investors are doing.

Your point is good, don't put all eggs in one basket, and we need to invest in many projects, to decrease the risk, and to get more hidden gems. All-in one project can be very profitable, and also very risky to be broke. Overall, investing in many projects is always a good habit.

It's normal that we shouldn't put all the eggs we got in the same basket. But that's another risk, the more projects you are going to invest.

The risk will be a lot of higher and the time that you are going to allocate with it is going to be another factor.

Even money you have in your bank account are also simply numbers the only thing that make it valuable is the real cash backing it up in the locker. Same goes for alt/crypto value of any coin depends upon the dev team behind it, market demand & supply, real life uses etc.

Altcoin trading is absolutely crazy and abnormal. What we are doing here is essentially penny stock trading without the regulations and without real world assets backing our investments. It's fucking ludicrous and nothing more than gambling. With that being said a lot of people here are making a lot of money, despite all this craziness. I wouldn't advise investing huge amounts due to the risk but it's a fun hobby and you don't need to risk too much in order to get a chance at making huge profit.

But your bank account consist of numbers.

Just like in Crypto, those numbers tell you how much you hold.

And in both circumstance, you sell or redeem those numbers for physical papers that the government tells you it has value

you are making an investment and this investment is one of those types that has high risks, which means you should understand these high risks first and try to reduce them somehow. and if you accept these risks then invest.
you do things like educating yourself first about how things work, then investing while the price is low, and investing in altcoins that have some real future not just an illusion. try reading some of the announcement topics and look at some price charts.

It is best to diversify your money into various projects. Take a look at the team and their goals for the project. If you believe in them, go for it. Invest small portion of your money in that project and then look for other projects to invest. In this way, you are smartly reducing your risks. I recommend you to look into bitcoin (of course!), ICN, SNGLS, DCT, ETC, ETH, NEM, etc.

I doubt you even have money to invest in anything but if I'm wrong with my assumptions the best way to lose money is to invest in something you don't understand or have a clue of what it does.
First thing first, knowledge, you need to research those projects that interest you and chose the best five among them to invest into, I mentioned five because I want you to spread out your risk incase one or two project failed.

It is normal, when you invest in a thing or anything that can make you earn profit then it is not crazy, some people invest in stock which is only paper, some people invest in paper-gold, so if it is profitable then you are not crazy, but when you know you are going to lost profit and then you invest, then you can call yourself crazy

money are numbers you invest your "numbers" to make more numbers or to lose some, it's all about math and it was always like that nothing changed and what is your concern really? but i would suggest to not invest so much in crypto, better to hold few coins that do well, or hold only bitcoin now, because when that is pumped altcoin are dumped and only few of them remain with a decent value

People speculate. Right now all coins beside Bitcoin and tiny bit of Monero and even tinier bit of ETH are just a speculation. Few games will start soon using crypto coins.  What is funny is, that once people see what coin will be used for and speculation ends, value of coin decrease. Speculation runs our altcoin exchanges and speculation runs wast majority of current crypto economy.

Understand how it works first.

No need to invest much when you are learning.

Put all your money away for now.

Until you can take a dollar, and gain significant profits % wise with it ,and hold the profit value. And then do it a few more times with a few more dollars, and after months still maintain that value from your profits, then you have business playing this game.

Still, this only means that you have learned altcoins, and the basics of trading them. At this point, you are at least not showing up and handing your money over for nothing. Which is what is going to happen if you just go and invest any time soon. That would literally just be gambling.

Once, you have proven that you can make some profits, and keep them, with very small amounts, you at least have a chance. Even the most experinced traders can get burned.

The minute you think, "no, I have found the golden goose, and I must invest everything", go get out the popcorn, because you are about to watch all that money go POOF

It is not normal, that is why you can make money from it. Normal is average salary. Being crazy risk taker can change your life, both ways.

the only thing that is not normal is your question. you may want to rephrase your question a bit.
and anything that is not normal is investing in random coin that you don't know anything about, so investigate before investing.

also first make sure what you are looking for in your investment. if it is a quick money then most altcoins pre-pump are good idea to invest in.
but if it is other things then your options become limited.

what do you mean it is "simply numbers"? i think you misunderstood the whole meaning of cryptocurrencies and i suggest you check out how these coins work so that you may stop thinking of then as "just numbers" on your screen.

and if you want to invest then invest in bitcoin. it is the main thing and the most strong one. the majority of the rest which are called altcoins are weak, useless and pump and dumps. there are a couple of good ones but they are not as strong as bitcoin.
divide your investment, mostly in bitcoin then among a couple of alts.
