OP's friend has planned to producing a beer with the name Bitcoin Beer and will launch a signature campaign here to promote the project. That's what OP said in the linked thread and the quoted part was the worst. People who will give merit to this thread will have chance to join the campaign. It is really begging for merit, may be directly or maybe indirectly.

I would like to apologize from you and all the respected members, and I will not repeat this mistake again. I have just started working to improve the quality of my posts and may benefit from this mistake in the future so that I do not repeat it. As you see that new and need your great experience, I thank you for this and I repeat my apologies

Sure, it is a merit begging and project has a big potential for being a scam. The project is in his mind only, there is only words no reality.

Quote
a friend who resides in France and is considering setting up a project

Quote
A promotional campaign for the product will be launched on September 28

Quote
15% of the profits achieved by product sales will be allocated to donate them to children's hospitals in poor countries, and if the sales are huge and the advertising campaign succeeds with your help, the director will also work to support education in some universities that You need that.

On the other hand some of low quality bounty managers always begging for merit. For example i catch up one of them and anyone didnt cared about it. (september 2018)

Giving merit to the bounty managers! is this fair or not ?

After the new case by queennathalia, Vod tagged them all.

I think theymos should implement rules and punishment for such begging since we people or DT have nothing to do on it.
This covers it:
Do not beg for merit excessively.

It's more than simply begging for merit in my opinion. OP was trying to get attention from low quality signature campaigner and get some merit although it was a failed attempt. I think theymos should implement rules and punishment for such begging since we people or DT have nothing to do on it.

I have some confusion that the user was telling the truth. If the user tells the truth and his friend has a project like that then asking for merit should be called merit trading. In this case, the OP and who will support/give him merit on the thread will be Equally guilty. If the user tell a lie then it should be called as cheating, and he tried to make fool the people.

BTW after checking his post history I want to say that it is all about for merit only. The user also applied to merit giveaway thread. But he did not get anything.

Seems thread has been trashed. Noticed from Archived thread, sending merit on the thread will lead to acceptance and will increase the chance of acceptance.
Here's the full topic: Soon a great campaign in support of Bitcoin.
I noticed the Merit begging yesterday, but was on mobile and didn't want to type. Several users mentioned the Merit begging already in the topic.

I don't really see this succeed though, and announcing a future signature campaign long before establishing the factory to create a low-alcohol beer doesn't look very promising. The only thing related to this forum is the name: "Bitcoin beer".
Spending $6000 in advertising on Bitcointalk for a heavy product that will be expensive to ship while it's value is low makes me suspicious to say the least.

Seems thread has been trashed. Noticed from Archived thread, sending merit on the thread will lead to acceptance and will increase the chance of acceptance. It would be considered merit trading & merit begging as well. Although it wasn't mandatory, participants will get accepted if they send merit, whoever will not send merit probably they will not be accepted or chances are very low. This isn't right to ask to send merit to the thread as a campaign manager.

He posted the same thing in the arabic board.
Promising to accept those who send him the most merit points in an imaginary signature campain for an inexistant project, sounds more like deception than begging.
I reported both topics for "merit begging" since scams are not moderated. Both of them were marked as good.

If you check his posts, i think that member is from Saudi or UAE.
Here (perhaps) the original sentences when i use google translator :
سيختار الأعضاء الذين قيموا الموضوع بنقاط الجدارة أكثر 5 تقييمات منهم للدخول المباشر في الحملة

Since indonesian (where i am came from) and arabic has several sentence structures that are almost same (similar). Based on my undestanding, imo, that post can be categorized as merit begging.

As if they are giving everyone a sweet promise about what they are planning, maybe for them by making such a thread it can be a lot of merit because it has provided interesting info about the signature to be launched even though for me this is clearly begging for merit.

I do not understand their purpose a little about brewing bitcoin beer. Can we buy cryptocurrency or just admire cryptocrurrency?

Merit is unnecessary for such topic,if he is really going to create a company and start advertising their project here they would go for service section and for a reputed member but it seems he wants to reach minimum merit requirement to join so just trying the trick to fool the members.

Imho it's worse than begging: it's a way to fool people into meriting him (for a promise).

Just imagine. What if the campaign will never happen? Why would somebody advertise beer here? It can easily said the friend has change his mind and this guy remains with nice amount of merit (if enough people fall for that).

And indeed, after pointing this out, that part of the post was deleted. Scared him?  Smiley

I am not sure if it has a relation or not. However, after creating that topic he seems to attempt to participate in a signature campaign (though he just asking the chance for his rank)

5- The first five members who put merit points for this current topic will be selected (this option is not mandatory, but it increases the member acceptance rate in the advertising campaign)
This is the unedited post, its look clear he's merit begging. Even he already said not mandatory, I believe many users will give him huge/max amount merit to get accepted (especially airdropped merit).

I read it over and over....!

@actmyname, @The Pharmacist: already said, word difficult to understand its true purpose.

The first words "judging the topic" are likely, anyone reading information about the campaign project should be assessed by merit, guess.

However, in the last writing it is clear he said "Top 5 Merits can register in the campaign" which will be developed by his friend from France.

Do not really understand the essence of the goal, which is clear they are both friends of different countries, one from Arabia and one from France.
I hope he really provides that information, without having to assess it through Merit, because the project is not necessarily developed here, or vice versa.

I think it means that of all users who merit the post, top 5 who send the most merits will be accepted into the campaign. I don't know what the real intent was but it does sound like a trade. More so than e.g. the other debacle about the soccer contest where someone offered merits as a reward.
What a sucker! If only he knew that he was a few merit away from joining the cycling club, and becoming a part of the all-powerful, awesome gang.

I don't even understand what he even means the way he arranged those words into that sentence.  There's obviously a language barrier here (or a basic comprehension barrier in my brain; you can never rule that out), but are you suggesting that he's suggesting that members who give him five merits are guaranteed entry into the campaign?  That's what it looks like it might mean, but I honestly don't have a clue what he means.

Edit:  Looks like the OP might have edited his post, because in this post his quote is pretty clear, and I missed it before writing everything above.  That looks not so much like merit begging as using merit as a kickback to get into a campaign, and that's definitely against the spirit of the merit system.

Can't really understand their sentences fully, but it looks like they're asking for merit to directly enter into some signature campaign.

Weird.
