It is clearly not a hobby motivated move, rather I could be making a lot of profit on taxpayers money, this makes me feel guilty. And I just cant do it now. The more I think about it, the more it makes me feel that its against the ethos and morals of the armed forces. With thousands of personnel below my rank, my conscious wont let me  live with an act of corruption.
Glad you arrived at the answer.

This depends though on whether your electricity allotment has an upper bound. If you have the wherewithals to procure and setup S19 rigs, can't you choose to forego some part of the perks or maybe donate an equivalent amount to some ex-airmen NGO.

There are other ways by which you can make a good profit without doing the mining thing. Do some research about Defi on BSC, the amount you will invest on a mining rig if invested correctly in the Defi ecosystem will earn you a decent ROI from day one.

I think it is. I am not talking of opening up a farm here. Was just thinking of setting up a s19 or two of them. I have 3 air conditioners (2 ton) installed in here. They work just good. Not any good with electricity, but two s19 would draw upto like current for 5 air conditioners. This house runs fine with 3 acs, a geyser, a refrigerator, and a TV. Thats all where my electricity goes right now.
Since you are well aware of what you are planning to do what is the mental blockage, it is funny you asked whether it is moral because if you think otherwise you will not even think about doing. If i am in your shoes the things i do is my hobby and if i need to pay any extra for my hobby i am happy to pay them and inform my superior about my hobby and move on with it rather than thinking too much Wink

This would surely be a wrong thing to do. But there is more to it. Bitcoin mining consumes high volume of power. It will consume 8-10 times more comparing to a normal household use even if you build minimal mining setup. Is your quarter adequately wired to hold such levels of electricity consumption? It will easily lead to short-circuit if the wires are not designed to hold that much ampere of current.

So I am a commissioned officer in the IAF. The mess quarter where I live doesn't require me to pay electricity bills (they are paid through the taxpayers money), and almost forever Ill be getting electricity free of cost over here.
I was thinking of setting up a few mining rigs over here, with free electricity I will be easily able to achieve ROI in some time. Though I really feel doing this is really not right. What are your views on this?
