As crazy as it sounds it's still possible.
1. Regulations come in with heavy taxing, exchanges banned without a KYC system, anon coins illegal
2. Big investors stop investing due to how heavy the taxing is and market instability
3. New investors have been burnt out from many corrections
4. We're just left with sellers and not many buyers
5. This event holds out for over 2 years till it dies down to nothing

I think $100 sounds pretty far fetched for even the worst case, but without BTC adoption growing a lot of us will lose faith in this being a real use technology, the idea of dApps drove so much hype in 2017 but has also shown to have pretty well no real practical use today, crashing the market heavy in 2018.

If scaling issues are not solved the likelihood of real world use dries up even more, people lose faith.

I'm not saying all of this will happen but we're all so optimistic on this tech, I felt far better in 2017 when the concept of blockchain apps was still to be tested and we had less scaling issues, as time goes on each idea is losing steam or getting heavy issues.

We need a big turn around, the general feel right now even ignoring the market is pretty low for the technology of blockchain and it's showing in the market, I'm still heavily invested though and see it as a good volatile market for swing trading.

The only real hope I see left is some good high speed/scalable coins coming out and the need for fast global transfer growing, there will come a day when people realise Bitcoin has failed and a new coin is the go to, if this change ever happens BTC could very well go to $100.

Now my actual real view is we will see BTC hit $20k in the next 12 months, I don't have a glass ball but it's not done yet.

Kind of ironic really.. I read an article on Google news yesterday that one economist was claiming bitcoin would be worth $100 million in the future. I think the point here is that no one really knows. It very well could drop to $100 again. But, I think it would go back up from there if it did. I certainly would be buying a bunch at that price.
