Recently saw some people complaining about coinlist that they got notification in their gmail their coinlist gmail account changed by some hacker. Also they also their multifactor authonication also changed!!  Is it real?  How this type of secure platform can be hack then how people will be secure and trust in investment platform! Is coinlist team already aware about that?  If not plz help them to solve this matter!

It is the site that had been hacked so the Multi Authentication is useless in this matter , we have heard something like this in the past so this is not new actually .

and may i ask why you are interested ? are you one of the victims ? if not then lets let those victims answer in this thread.
No site is hack proof even the cyber security websites of super power government faced hacks as well so first of all you can't trust any website 100% but here it seems someone pretends to be sending the mail from official website but in reality the legitimate platform don't do such things they will announce it publicly so everyone can change it so its pretty simple fake account created with name similar to official one.

But I have a question what is the coinlist website if for? A trading platform?
Indeed , hacker nowadays are great on this  as it is their expertise so yes no one is hack free .

there is no solution, if that happens, whatever is done, in any way there is no right solution, to overcome this problem, in the future it is better to be more careful in maintaining important accounts, especially those relating to finance in the form of crypto, security  in the hands of those who have assets, try asking the related parties, it's a shame if there are assets with such large amounts, there is no access anymore.

Most at time leaving funds on CEX is not really a good Idea compared bridging into the site without enough security measures. Coinlist should enhance their security system and get employed good developer who will work strongly to secure users funds and investment.

Sorry to say this, with this action users will gradually fade up with them if nothing is being put in places to avert such activity on their platform.
Dont know on why there are people who do lost their way and able to make use of these unknown or less popular exchange? Without even trying to look for the best current one in the market today on which they

might able to save their asses on possible situation that they might faced.Leaked information and other security issues or exploits could really happen specially for a platform which does have lots of holes or weak
security and knowing that these are places where hackers do mostly target then its not surprising that less or not known exchange platforms would really be having these kind of issues likely.

snipped...

I think your research is right but i saw too many projects which launched on their site like guild of guardians and most high volume project which already launched but if they scam people like this then it is too sad for coinlist investors they can got hacked any times!! But i saw a few people already got hacked in my community
If the reason for the hack is after registering Coinlist exchanges, that is really a big question, Because if that been proven, there is something behind the exchanges and that probably there is an inside job.
I don't think their intention is to protect individual's accounts far from hacking incidents but somehow draw a conclusion that because of them, many people had lose control of their accounts and even lose their money.

then how much people can got hacked in the world i dont know.
There's more if the site still is going to operate. But if people will read and review the current status of this exchange, this can be avoided and able to stop their doings.

Nothing happened with coinlist https://twitter.com/CoinList

You must be careful as sometimes the scammer was creating spam email to be sent to anyone to steal your account. It seems like he was getting hacked caused by phishing link. This true caused by he was getting hijacked after his email maybe already leaked by someone.

Yes it is most likely that someone inside has leaked his gmail data so it is easy for theft to occur.
And be careful with phishing links that have spread a lot so that sometimes people find it difficult to distinguish between scam sites and genuine sites.

Just looking at their review https://www.trustpilot.com/review/coinlist.co, there are a lot of complaints sent.

It is pretty obvious that this site can't be trusted. What happens to OP is literally also happens to most coinlist site users. May the use of 2FA can save our account but the question is how the site itself guarantees security. I would assume that there is an inside job that happens and this even happens to other exchanges.

if that's the case, I think the most important thing is to wait for an official notification from the coinlist, I don't think you should do anything first, because at this time there is nothing we can do. I hope the team can fix this soon. after there is an explanation from the team, then we can complain, that our account got an email as you mentioned

Nothing’s for sure right now. But, foremost, anything that is hackable is definitely not secured. Also, I second @danherbias07, the e-mail should be read first and evaluated if it is legit then follow instructions to retrieve or secure the account again. But, if the coinslist was really hacked then here’s nothing we could about it, nor the users. Then again, nothing’s for sure otherwise officially stated the team.

I don't know about coinlist but is the domain of the email legitimate?

It seems that it's a phishing scam attempt and the hacker/scammer did successful phished a member of that group or website. This trick is common through emails.

They'll give you a warning message for which you're going to panic and be emotional that shall make you click the link they put into that email that will ask for your important details (login/password).

it is usually to get hacked if the security of the platform is not strong enough, there are other exchange that was hacked and leading them to increase in their security point. If their account has been already hacked there is nothing to do to recover their funds maybe the coinlist team will accept to pay part of it to victims  as a compensations for their lost but basically nothing can be done to restore their funds.

Some other platforms have some counter solution whenever such problem occurred to their users and they resolved it with everyone satisfied with the result. If this event will be published in the outside of the community the this is the chance of the said platform to show how strong and determined they are to protect their users from such kinds of evil act but if they don't do anything about it then expect that they will lose credibility and potential investors.

Then ask coinlist directly through their supports. This garbage exchange site is so weird. Coinlist was also banning people randomly without any notice. I got so many of my friends who were getting banned from the IEO that launched on coinlist.
I have tried to log in to my coinlist account and everything is fine but i never open my account since almost a year ago. If the authenticator gets changed and then it's probably the critical information by the users already owned by the hacker. that's why it was able to change the important thing like authenticator. You can check coinlist twitter account and if there was something happening with this platform and im sure that it will be informed first through using the coinlist twitter account.
To be honest this platform is so garbage.

He should read the e-mail first.
It was said he should respond to the message if ever that was not him. That's the only solution for it. For starters, appreciate the fact that he was warned and if he didn't do it, react as fast as he could.
There's a high chance he logged in at a different place or phishing could also be a possibility. I am worried about the authenticator though, how was it disabled that easy because in Binance there are steps of proving it is you/your account before you can disable it.

It happened to me once like 4 years ago, happened due to my error in protecting my hardware(PC, or smartphone). Back then my computer was compromised completely after I did a lot of clicks on unknown links or downloaded unverified software on the internet, I noticed it after their attempt to login into my exchange account and realized the hacker got everything I have including authenticator.

That is the only plausible answer for this scenario, until now we have not heard anything about their security breach which means the issue is not from their side but from the user's side. If it is really a security breach, the victim will not be you alone but a lot of people and the media will report it as soon as they heard it.

We are not sure about it, it maybe a scam attempt by that user or the users was not that careful and hackers managed to hack his account. Also, I visited the coinlist Twitter account and didn't see any information about it and never see any reports or news about the breach so we cannot say that it real. Also it is possible that the email itself is a phishing attempt since it is pretty popular right now and everyone is vulnerable and might be a victim if you are not careful.

I don't really know if coinlist was the target of a successful hacking attempt but so far i have not read any news about it and given the fact that coinlist is a pretty big platform i am pretty sure that such a hack would be in the news if it really happened. So therefore my guess is, that this is just another one of those thousands of generic fishing mails that is circulating on the internet. I guess the e-mail address of this user just somehow landed on the list of some criminals that is sending out those fishing mails in the hope that some people click those links that are included in order to get their money or private key or whatever.
That is why you should never use your primary mail address for giveaways or airdrops or stuff like that.

Multi authentication security is useless if the website security itself has been breached. Since it’s a centralized exchange, Hacker can easily change the details of all the user accounts details with just a few clicks using admin account. The owner itself should fixed this mess and improve there security to avoid this kind of security breached. I believe this exchange doesn’t have any insurance feature incase of this event though.

Help who to solve which matter? That's on the coinlist team friend no one on here can fix that problem except the team themselves, moreover what makes you think that any platform is secured? This is why leaving assets on any crypto platform is wrong, they are safer in your wallet.
