Cos pseudoanonymity of Bitcoin (and other crypto like it) can't be simple revealed. And that kind of arms race (detectives vs neatness+mixers) from scratch gov doesn't wanna start in first place, perhaps. For now there's no so much gold or any commodity like that crossing Russia everyday as measure of wealth, but digital gold can turn situation upside down. And probably will, decentalized system can't be censored Wink

This fact is easily explained. Corruption in Russia is a significant problem that impacts the lives of Russia’s citizens. Russia is on the 133rd place out of 176 (tied with Comoros, Guyana, Honduras, Iran, and Kazakhstan).

I agree that they will need to came with solid proof that those bitcoins were used in a criminal manner. I guess that if they will focus their influence in legalize the Bitcoin in russia, then they will create a win-win situation. But this is just me...

Yep, all true.

Exept for the fact, this was Bank of Russia recommendation statements, not the government laws. There is still no any law considering bitcoins, or any other crypto in Russian Federation.

There are also some comments considering to this news by russian lawyers - even if bitcoin would be stationed in laws somehow, in case of posecutions mentioned, it would require a great work for the police to find additional crime patterns and to prove them, otherwise any punishment would be illegal.
