We (our team) use Trello for interacting with designers. It's easy to put tasks and check images there. Also, it's very user-friendly, so even newbies can use this tool.

There should be tons of different PM tools available with similar functions that Trello offers (just search for Project Management software via google). What Trello does offer is a kanban like card system for tasks which in turn requires task holders to update on their own progress throughout their progress. If you have a development team you could create several sheets for various developers and whatnot, to make the transition from one department to another easier to coordinate. In the end the effectiveness of PM tools relies heavily on how your users interact with them, it will certainly waste time if coworkers doesn't adapt it.

Question to the freelancers out there: does it really help to improve coworkers' communcation or is it just an unnecessary time wasting tool? Do you know any good alternatives?
