Ledger is a rare example of popular closed-source hardware wallets that shot itself in the foot multiple times with their dumb and counter productive business decisions.

An open-source device would have more difficulties doing something like that because its code is public and available for scrutiny. If it's a popular product, a recover feature like Ledger introduced would quickly be discovered if they attempted to introduce it in silence.

So, even though you are right that other manufacturers could do the same like Ledger, it doesn't mean they will.

If OP has a decent stash in alts,  $79 plus around the same sum for moderate Android +10 ( if he don't have it already) is not a price for the  fortress-grade  security. If he has Android +10 device that could be the golden opportunity to acquire the new one for everyday routine and use old one to store their precious stash.
By very definition we already know that old Android devices are not safe.
No magical software can make this devices safe again by simply installing new universal software sponsored by some shitcoin companies like tezos.
For less money I can already buy or make my own Jade wallet, Trezor, Krux, Seedsigner, Satochip, Onekey and Keystone is not much expensive.
Most of this devices can store USDT or L-USDT (except Krux and Seedsigner).

To expensive for just a code that don't even support all android devices.

It depends.

As for Trezor safe 3, its secure element is close source. Just take note of that.
Trezor 3 Safe is actually using Infineon OPTIGA Trust M secure element and you can easily find it's code on github for inspection:
https://github.com/Infineon/optiga-trust-m

in the moment you connect to internet im using now Electrum on airgaped laptop and a watch only wallet on my online computer
but the problem is that electrum is btc only wallet when i want to store USDTe
You can also use L-USDT and L-BTC on Green Wallet, that is built on Liquid Network.

i dont really like metamask i have seen many peoples get hacked when they linking their trezor with metamask
Trezor is safe if you use it correctly.
If you don't know what you are doing than you can make even perfectly safe device into unsafe.
I would not use stupid metamask wallet, but Trezor Suite works just fine for what you are looking for.

Then your choice should be AirGap Knox .

Then your choice should be AirGap Knox .

Installed onto Android (+10) device it turns the latter into airgapped "fortress" to save USDT in   AirGap Vault combined with   Airgap Wallet.

The security   of this "fortress" would comparable to dedicated hardware wallets:

Metamask itself isn’t advisable but connecting it to Trezor and getting your funds stolen from it is a bit hard except you didn’t connect it well and instead import your seed phrase in that MetaMask wallet as way to connect them. Hardware wallets connected to software wallets do not expose your seed phrase or keys to that software wallet because they are never allow to interact that way. The only to steal your funds is probably the means of transferring transaction files for signing and the USD or SD card is infected by malware that changes address or through DApps which send a malicious transaction for you to confirm and if you do steals yours just like what happened with Ledger connectkit. Other than these only physical contact with your hardware wallet can steal your funds from it

im thinking on using electrum for BTC
and trezor for usdt but i want to know your opinions
I won't suggest you any wallet for USDT but for Bitcoin I highly recommend you to use Electrum as that's the safest and most reliable wallet for almost everyone. But, you should be careful when using Electrum because if you have already installed unknown applications on your system then still you may have some risks.

If you really want to be safe with Electrum then I suggest you to go with a Linux distribution as that's a safe operating system. You should first format your disks and create a new partition where you should install your Linux distribution. Once the operating system is installed and running then you can install Electrum and create your personal wallet.

Once you create your wallet then you should save your private keys, wallet file, and seed phrase in a safe location. I would suggest you to purchase a separate USB based external SSD as that works fine for strong those files but remember that only you should have access to that SSD no one else. You should also try to write your seed phrase and private keys on a paper.

Once it's done then you should make the system as an air-gapped system. With an air-gapped system your wallet is safe but be careful if someone gets access to your seed phrase then that person can still steal your Bitcoin. That's why I suggested you to put your SSD and that paper on which you have written your seed phrase and private keys into a secure place. If you take care of those then you should be worry free as no one from a online system will be able to hack your wallet and all your Bitcoin will be safe.

Could you show some articles about that? I haven't come across any of them. No one can steal your funds without you authorizing the transaction from the device itself, be that using MetaMask or any other wallet.

Just to add to the above regarding the altcoins support, you probably won't be able to use the Trezor suite (Trezor's native app) for much. If you want to deal with almost any network out there, you will need to link your wallet with MetaMask (desktop). The model T is also supported by Exodus.

Trezor wallet is safe, but make sure that you buy it from Trezor official shop. Your wallet safety is in your hands, follow what Charles-Tim said, and back up your seedphrase and passphrase seperately.

You can get Trezor for altcoins. But know that Trezor one and Trezor T are recommended to be used with passphrase because both only has MCU and not having secure element that can make the seed phrase hard or impossible to be accessible during physical attack on the hardware wallet.

If you lost your passphrase backup, you will lose your coins just as if you lose your seed phrase backup. Backup your seed phrase and passphrase differently in different locations. Have like 2 or 3 backups each.

As for Trezor safe 3, its secure element is close source. Just take note of that.

Hi guys do still think hardware wallets are safe since Ledger claim that they can extract your seed if they want with just an update
and if ledger can then all other hw can and even if you didnt update your wallet they may do it without your permission
in the moment you connect to internet im using now Electrum on airgaped laptop and a watch only wallet on my online computer
but the problem is that electrum is btc only wallet when i want to store USDT too im thinking on Trezor but im afraid its not safe
i also heard about some peoples getting hacked on trezor and their wallet get drained and also alot of youtubers asking peoples to
avoid trezor because of their latest affiliate with Coinjoin im thinking on using electrum for BTC
and trezor for usdt but i want to know your opinions
