Israel was in de-facto control of Southern Lebanon until 2000. They asserted control over this area, with help from the mainly Maronite South Lebanon Army (led by Saad Haddad and Antoine Lahad). In 2000, the Israelis decided to withdraw (after suffering hundreds of casualties) and the Maronites were left to be butchered by the Muslims.

Following the lack of will by the potus the fighters normally ready to attack isreal from the north will return from their deployment in Syria soon. Time to extend the buffer zone. Flatten it. 24h warning to the locals and then munition shuffling until dead zone.
