ill try this with my replacement tomorrow...if USPS brings it...good advice!

Hey there.

I have two of these mobos in use right now and have come across the same issue as you.

My fix was this:

Reset CMOS. Either remove the battery(that's what I did, just as a full reset), or you can use the CMOS jumper to clear your BIOS. Once you've cleared, do not change how the mobo detects a monitor. Leave that option on Auto(I don't remember the option name, but it's where you choose how you want the mobo to output video). Change your PCIe settings to Gen 1/2/3, whichever is stable for you.  You don't need to change how the mobo detects video, it doesn't affect mining. Only changing the PCIe Gen settings will you see stability changes when mining.  Additionally, your video output GPU is the GPU attached to the PCIe x16 port.

We have 3 Biostar TB85 rigs and they have all been extremely stable. It's been a couple of months since the last one was built, but they should easily start up and install your OS etc on default settings. Did you try to just connect 1 GPU until you have the OS and basic drivers installed before connecting the rest?

Also, you might try replacing the battery, the first TB85 we got months back needed a battery replacement, a couple reviews on newegg mentioned also needing to replace the battery with that particular batch.

Biostar TA970 here, similar problem...I have a replacement board on the way monday..so I shall try again..I only have 4 gpus, same problem tho...curious on the solution...bios settings seem to be the culprit, cant find the magic setup....

Hey all,

So I've just begun a new build out of a server style mining rig. Upon completion of assembly and attempted boot, the computer would turn on, but there would be a black screen. I've ran into this problem before multiple times, but all were solved (bad risers, faulty card, etc). With this build, the monitor wouldn't detect the card no matter what. I believe it is an issue with the motherboard- which is a Biostar TB85. I proceeded to construct a second identical build, and ran into the same exact issue. I've managed to write the OS onto the drive and use the computer no problem via onboard graphics, and I've tried disabling the onboard graphics and setting boot to PCIE, but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas for me? Here is my parts list below.

1x Intel Pentium G3258
1x G.Skill 4GB DDR3 1600 Mhz
1x Corsair HX1200 PSU
6x Powered USB risers
1x Biostar TB85
6x MSI RX 580 8GB (Reference Edition)
1x 128GB Corsair SSD
