Hi again, I would like to thanks everyone that took their time to issue this problem, all answers helped me in one way or another.

What I did was that I re-install my phone from scratch that people mentioned here and then installed everything back again, even Exodus but I did create a new wallet and did not restore the old one, I did move all my coins to a wallet on another device during the time.

If I had merit I would merit every reply, thanks again and have a great weekend, as for now the problem is solved so I will lock the thread. 🙏

Sup folks! Yesterday when I woke up i was gonna pay a bill so I started my bank app on the phone but when I did I got this message on my screen. (I put picture in the bottom)
I only had two options, to delete the Exodus app if i wanted to continue using the bank app or close the bank app (that of course won't work, I need to pay my bills.  Cool)

I been using Exodus for a couple of years and never had this issue before, I tried to restart the phone several times same thing came up.
Have anyone else had the same exp before? It's strange that it's just happens after a year of using the app, and the app is also downloaded from Google Play.
Maybe Exodus have some issue at the moment with their Android App? Or it could be some issue with my phone.
Or my phone got some shit inside it, witch I highly doubt since I never share anything or download any shit at any time, never.

But it was a bit strange and a little bit nervous to see the warning message first, I wonder why it arrived there? How can a app get infected just like that.  Tongue
First I thinking that my wallet was hacked, but all the bitcoin was still there. If you using Exodus on your wallet, I recommend you to check if you have any similar issues.

Anyway! The most important thing was that no bitcoin was missing, but anyway I instantly moved the bitcoin I had there to another wallet and deleted the app, then I tried to install it again and everything was back to normal, but I did not reset that wallet, I created a new one.

...And yes I know that a cold wallet is the best option, but been 100% without a hot wallet is impossible for me.
This thread should not be about what wallet is the best and safest, just about this particular problem at Exodus (or my phone).

Sorry for bad English and other stuff, I am not from a native English speaking country so I did my best.
According to the picture you posted your phone is telling you the exodus wallet app is infected, now you do not know if this is a false positive or if it is accurate but you cannot really afford to hope for the best, it seems you have already moved your bitcoin but is that wallet on a different device than the one that presented the infection? If not then get your coins out of there as you never know what it may happen if you keep delaying moving your coins to a different device.

I think that these things can happen due to some app settings: either protection utilities have problems with identifying exodus as a non-malware, or some new features of the app don't suit security protocols. In general, it's better to check security and permission settings of the Exodus app, and its useful to check general privacy and security settings as well. Sometimes these troubles appear after apps updating. However, a malware seeking for wallet data is also a possible reason for this...

I think DaveF may be the closest to the truth with his explanation. It is a known fact that many banks do not like anything related to crypto.

@OP, since the banking app issued that alert, not your antivirus, it is possible that it is a false positive. What you can do is try restarting your smartphone and launching the bank app first, before any other apps. It is possible that the warning occurred because the Exodus app was running in the background, and the banking app detected it in the phone's memory.

I think this is a kind of antivirus that your OS has installed, maybe you use something like Xiaomi or another Chinese-made smartphone?  Because I generally see those types of pop ups in these kinds of phones.  For example, with pixels by Google this has never happened to me.

First, you have to know that there may not be any possible security risk on your phone right now, but be certain your device memory is filled with junk and apps that have drained out your phone space which has resulted in the lagging you are experiencing with the mobile app on the phone.

Best possible ways to handle this:

If you don't care about data loss then format the device totally by factory resetting.

But in my opinion that is not the best way to go about this since you can uninstall a few apps, and run virus diagnostic and treatment on your device make sure you clear off all the jujunk on your that you are sure to be free and take future precautions to avoid such issues.

Seems your phone get malware due have used Exodus app have been couple years, did you check any new application installed in your mobile phone? seems related with malware target with your exodus wallet for hacking assets there. Better not opening yet any important application in your mobile phone from banking account until exchange wallet account. Be aware with your mobile phone and not bad ideas checking with Exodus have modify or update application to new version or not, for cryptocurrency wallet I don't use not popular wallet and right now more safety hold or save assets in electrum.
I aware with mobile phone because use by my children and can't protect well when they are opening with malware site and easily make our mobile phone loss controlling.

Have anyone else had the same exp before?
As a former user, I never experienced such a thing.

It's strange that it's just happens after a year of using the app, and the app is also downloaded from Google Play.
It's worth noting that Google Play can't provide 100% protection against all of the apps on its platform: e.g. A million people downloaded these malicious apps before they were finally removed from Google Play

I never share anything or download any shit at any time, never.
A couple of notes:

  • At one point, you "did" download the app in question and perhaps at that time, you were connected to a public Wi-Fi [updating an app counts as well]!
  • Am I correct in assuming that you're using a device with an outdated software [android version, security patches, and the apps themselves]?

anyway I instantly moved the bitcoin I had there to another wallet and deleted the app, then I tried to install it again and everything was back to normal, but I did not reset that wallet, I created a new one.
If I were you, I'd do a factory reset prior to installing the app again!

Problems in the Exodus app in Android may range from synchronization problems, trouble accessing your wallet and random crashing. In this case, ensure that you are using the latest version of the app and restart your phone as well as network connectivity. If it does not readily disappear uninstall then reinstall it again while ensuring you have a backup for your wallet. In case there is no change even after reinstallation get help from Exodus support or check their forums for solutions.

Block halving is coming.
Do you mind sharing with us the bank app you talking about
How about the other Crypto wallet?

There might be some updates on their site about the bank app. You can try to ask them why so that you know if it's a virus or malware.

It's weird how the bank app detected that you have an Exodus wallet did you run Exodus in the background while opening the bank?
Can you try to disable all Exodus permissions on the phone settings, maybe Exodus Wallet is trying to access your bank app which is why the bank forcing you to uninstall the Exodus wallet that is why I want you to try to disable all Exodus permissions and force close the app to test if Exodus is accessing your bank app.

Hmm, Well it's been a long time since I haven't used Exodus... So I'm not sure what's going on with it, as a replacement I would prefer you to use the Trust wallet but as you are quite experienced it should not be your choice, For that, I'll recommend using the Electrum Wallet. I think OKX or Kucoin one of them provides the Custodial wallet as well you can take a look there.

Hmm, that's also highly possible there can be a bug in your banking app, so testing it first can be an option rather than changing the wallet. I saw a topic a few days ago that never merry a project so it's better to implement it here as well never mery a wallet, especially Hot Wallet.

Hmm, In the end, I think this topic doesn't belong to Bitcoin Discussion.

To know exactly what problem you're having, why don't you try resetting your phone and updating to the latest operating system version? If you continue to report errors, it is likely that the Exodus application is having problems and you should contact the developer directly to get the most accurate answer. By the way, checking for updates to the latest version of Exodus is something you should also not ignore. As long as your bitcoins are safe, I don't see anything serious here.

With the way am seeing this OP, there are two things involved in cases like this, the first one is that it's either your device memory is low and needed some apps being deleted in other to help other functions performance, secondly, it's wether you downloaded the wrong app from the wrong website, now here's my advice for you, check the scenario of the two examples I've mentioned above and see if you have not been fallen under any, also know that Exodus wallet is best for beginners, so i want to believe you're a beginner but don't make any funny security bridge on the use of the wallet that may result in you loosing your fund in it.

Your keys, your responsibility
Is that a warning built into the phone's protection system or just from the antivirus? Updating your phone's operating system can sometimes detect outdated apks that are no longer compatible and are categorized as malicious. I recommend always updating your wallet.

Since it's your bank app that is generating the message I would think that for some reason they just do not want crypto apps on the phone with their banking app.
Is Exodus the only crypto wallet on your phone? If yes, try to add another well known one and see if the banking app gives you an error on that one too.

Also, at least here in the US Exodus was updated on Sep 25, 2023 so it's possible they changed something and that your bank does not like what they did.

Its been a while since i used the exodus application even on their platform on PC, well by the way I guess your phone already detected there's some malicious file inserted with this application and of course for your safety too your phone makes a prompt that you must need to remove this for your safety, ideal to clean your device and reformat its better than making risk with your bank. Transfer your funds first to more safe platform temporarily for the Binance or your hard wallet or even in the hot wallets other than that so you can clean it up first. Dont ignore just simple warning its preventive measures better than higher risk of loss.

Don't joke with my Daughter
What i notice is that your anti virus is that active on your phone most times there some file or app that doesn't work smoothly when your anti virus is active. Like me for instance there maybe some app I will download and immediately my antivirus moves them or remove it from my system automatically, what I does most time is to switch it off and get those app installed before turning them on.
From what I sense on your issues seems like your wallet needed to be updated but you didn't update it at the required time so it has to malfunction for you to update it but you didn't instead was to uninstall it, well it's fine now since you said it's working very fine now.

Maybe just a false positive detection, there's a chance if you not updated to the current version or you've upgraded your operation system.

Although there were many complaints against this wallet, but currently I don't find someone complain about this matter you faced.

Your coins should be gone if you're really get hacked or infected with malware.

I will advice you create a temporary wallet on another device that is trusted and transfer all your crypto , make sure you don't loose your 12 words recovery phrase, then go back to your phone and factory reset it so it can function properly, install a new exodus app and login again with your secret phrase then you can transfer all your assets/crypto back.

I have previously used the Exodus wallet and never experienced any problems, but now I don't use it anymore for another reason.
Regarding this problem, I suspect there is a problem with your Android that causes the application not to run properly, this is just a guess, it may not be true.

Then did you try to re-import the seed phrase into the exodus wallet that you reinstalled the app from? Are the results still the same?

If you are still unsure about this wallet, then use another wallet that is more recommended.

You are using your mobile phone in a way malware can easily be installed on it which is the root of the issue that you have with it. Stop clicking on ads, use ad blockers, avoid malware, visit the correct site and be careful of search engines like google.

I will advise you to reformat your phone. Make sure you have your seed phrase and important information back up.

I don't really use Exodus anymore, but I have their wallet installed on my phone and I never had this issue before.

What happens when you tap "Fix" though? does that automatically uninstall the app? either way, their support team is very response, so you may want to contact them if the problem persists.
