it means you are not putting enough gas in because for now there is a very heavy traffic jam that forces everyone to use a very large fee

I heard somewhere that you can replace a transaction only if it has the status "Pending". If the status is not present, the transaction cannot be canceled. I don't know the subtleties, but it all depends on the network load. Maybe some other factors affect, but it seems that the workload is decisive.

I'm also experiencing it lately grey button and not blue when I was trying to withdraw, I began to hit Ethereum because I felt I was robbed by the fees that they want and the gas limit is too high imagine 330000, for me that was a form of corruption when you can do an Eth transaction the gas limit is only 21000 but on Metamask it was 333000 disgusting BSC and Tron is far better compared to this slowly turning to be greedy Ethereum network.

Lol! corruption it is indeed, the other day i paid $12 fee to send some tokens to the exchange, also the weight of the tokens contribute to the fee it seems, the more the tokens the higher the fees, i never thought i will ever pay so much high fees, i don't know when exactly the fees will reduce down to the way it use to be,
@op need to keep increasing the fee or he should add more eth gas on his metamask wallet in other to keep increasing the fees, it is quite an unfortunate situation.

im not using metamask but the same fees i got last time when im about to send ether to my eth address but i was only attempting to send 1 usd and fees arent that worth it so i didnt continue but for you , you still continue the transaction .

you must have lots of tokens in you and  the value of your tokens is higher than the fees that your going to send ? but you can choose to not process the transaction for a while if you think the fee is too much like what i did  . there is always another time , just hope the eth fees will subside soon .

I'm trying  to withdraw ETH from Metamask.
Address to send to is there (tried a couple of them), put in 140 Gwei fee @ 2100 Gas limit, but the NEXT button is greyed out, so I'm pretty much stuck.
Can someone help me figure out why.

Thank you

There are several possible reasons -
1) Some transaction in the blockchain could hang. It needs to be pushed by adding gas - this can be done through metamask, you will see this transaction in history.
2) You may not have enough for the specified commission on the wallet
3) you may have indicated a small amount of gas (this is usually important when sending to the wallet of an exchange or smart contract).

And of course it's worth trying to re-enter metamask.

simple, your balance is very little. all you need to do is to get ethereum from a second wallet or buy some ethereum from exchange to increase the size. the button is out because the funds in the wallet is not enough to cover your gas fees. increase your ethereum and make your withdrawal successfully. easy and simple as ABC.

Just set and increase the fee, just keep trying until it's able to be pressed. Ethereum transactions today are quite high and the fees should have been increased for you to continue.
It will be allowed once you hit the right and recommended fee.

Even trying to send just 15$ worth of ETH, it doesn't activate the button.

Thanks tabas
Yeah, even you send just $10 or $15 if you don't pay the fee that's recommended by the network. It won't pursue.
Just check how much the recommended fee for the gas by this time if it's not yet sent.

obviously this is too low a gas problem see the average on ethgasstation and then upload a little more so you can be sure the transaction goes through, there are three values on ethgasstation standard, fast and trader i think choosing trader ( the highest one) there are absolutely no problems

I don't think there is issue with MetaMask but Ethereum gas price, the price is so high now and what I do is to waiting the time transaction will be low before I send my transactions. I will advice you to use MyCrptowallet or Myetherwallet both are user friendly and you can edit the gas price and set it yourself provided you don't need the transaction to be done fast

This is ridiculous,,I also often encounter the same problem with you but I'am also happy with metamask because giving back the gas use is too high even though it is too complicated when compared to the crypto wallets that exist
Some steps you have take, make sure your internet access is connected, try to exit the metamask menu and do from beginning there may be problems on the network, and lastly make sure your cost reaches the lowest gas limit or exceeds

It can an issue with your internet, it can be an issue with your browser. Or may be the metamask extension is out of date. You can try importing your private key/pass phat with myetherwallet and check if there’s any problem.

Still nothing happens, the NEXT button simply doesn't activate...I have 0.25 of ETH in the wallet, surely that is enough to cover the fee, right?
I kept raising the gas limit and/or Gwei until it gave me the "insufficient funds" message.

It's ridiculous...

Here is an article posted by the official metamask team itself : How to fix "insufficient funds"/greyed error

It means you are not having enough amount to cover the transaction you are making. how much you are about to transact from your wallet? If it is complete then leave some dust of eth there because your fee will be taken from the remaining balance of your wallet not from the amount you want to transact.

Thank you for the links @semogo and @lebregone.

Definitely something isn't in order, nothing solves it.
Unfortunately, I had already tried all those links prior to posting here.
One thing I did now was to try a Swap of ETH with LINK from Metamask and when i press the "Get quotes" button I get this error...
"Error fetching quotes
Hmmm... something went wrong. Try again, or if errors persist, contact customer support."

Then I tried the same thing through Uniswap and quotes simply don't show...But, when I exit Metamask, quotes and fees show up immediatly.

You should use the standard transaction fee as I guess that is the cause of your problem. If you customize your transaction fee then you should refer to https://ethgasstation.info/ as you can check their if what is the recommended gas prices and Gwei to use in order to successfully make your withdrawal.

You should always check the recommended gwei and gas price before executing any customize transaction fee while using metamask if you don't want to encounter this kind of problem again.

Gas limit should be 21000 and the recommended fee can be found here: https://etherscan.io/gastracker

If you see a greyed button means there are not enough funds in your ethereum wallet to cover the gas fee for your transaction, so please check whether there is enough funds available or not.

There is one thing I like about metamask, if gas fee is too high metamask will return the remaining fee back once the transaction is successful, the remaining satoshis will be sent back into your wallet unlike other crypto wallets out there
