Just send it to a MEW (my Ether Wallet) first and then send it to the exchange. https://www.myetherwallet.com/

A lot of exchanges don't accept smart contract payments. Bittrex, Bitfinex, Coinexchange.io, Coinhako, Coinpayments, Cryptopia, Exodus, Koinex, Ledger, Liqui, SimplexFX all don't accept smart contracts

It has to do with how it is processed on the blockchain.
On the blockchain the transaction is to the contract address and the funds are sent to the receiving address via an internal transaction (as data).

I opened an account with Cryptopia, but how do I fund my new account? Can I use Kraken, as I need do change some fiat money into btc first?
I ask because Cryptopia says not to send funds via smart contracts and some people ran into problems with their funds not being credited because of the use of smart contracts.
I have not come across an option called smart contracts, neither at Kraken nor Bittrex or Binance.
How do I avoid smart contracts when sending btc to Cryptopia?

I am new to Cryptopia and since the customer service is next to worthless, I don't want my first deposit getting stuck for weeks because I used "smart contracts" without being aware of it. Like I said above, I don't even see an option for using a smart contract option at the exchanges I use, but still people ran into those issues at Cryptopia.
