I don't know why I had never actually seen Watchlist until now!
I can guess: without following theymos' instructions, it was empty and didn't look very useful.

I always use the "Show new replies to your posts" link at the top
There's your mistake Tongue I did that too, until I read this:
I don't understand why anyone would not use the watchlist. You can configure the watchlist to be exactly the same as "show new replies to your posts" by configuring your posts to be auto-watched and adding your posted-in topics to your watchlist. After this is done, you can unwatch topics that you don't want to see.

If I click Show new replies to your posts. after years of using Watchlist, it looks terrible!

1. Go to watchlist.
2. Edit Watchlist.
3. Select the topic you want to remove and remove them form watchlist.

Is that what you are looking for? I'm not sure but seems like this is what you need. I haven't used the option ever if I'm correct, just tried to from one topic from Show new replies list and it worked.

It could be very nice to be able to mute a topic

I always use the "Show new replies to your posts" link at the top, trying to follow some topics. But even when I click on "unwatch", the topic continues to come again and again in "Show new replies to your posts"

Any way to avoid it ?
