moderators are becoming lenient in moderation, number of banned users reduce.
Just a thought: do Mods earn more from 1 banned account, or from 40 deleted posts?
Definitely 40 deleted posts. If actually they are paid per task, deleting 40 posts means 40 tasks while to nuke a user is 1 task.

The user is currently banned for 7 days.
Can you share why such an obvious spammer gets such a lenient treatment after having 55 posts deleted? I don't think he'll ever contribute anything good to Bitcointalk. Waiting for 7 days means nothing to a spammer (or even spambot), while it took a lot of effort from many people to report those posts.

No, I can't. I reported this user in the moderator section on the evening of July 7, and described the whole situation with spamming the topics with medical cannabis advertisements and about topics with links to non-existent pages. Why the senior moderators made this decision is unknown to me.

I guess this entire "Big wins at FreeBitco.in" thread should be locked forever. Or is it actually allowed to run all these spambots? Interestingly though, all these accounts have just a few posts. But still they are obviously supposed to mislead people. I see that thread getting bumped all the time with these fake posts.

I wonder if one user is spamming with one account or someone sets up 1000 accounts and posts once with them, shouldn't entire threads be treated equally? This guy is the OP of that thread he recently got red tagged, but I'd consider putting an end to that thread as a whole.

In addition to spamming translated cannabis service announcements, this user also posted a number of topics in which he used links to non-existent pages as sources to hide the AI-generated text.

Here is an example of such a topic

The user is currently banned for 7 days.

Plus 9 deleted posts in modlog. Mods are too soft nowadays, he should have been Nuked already.

Maybe theymos is getting old? I have seen several cases in my life of men who did not hesitate to act forcefully in certain cases, and when they get older, the drop in testosterone is noticeable in their behavior.
LOL.
Right from my early days in the forum till now, I have never known theymos to be a fast action taker. He does things in his own time and not because of the pressure of people. But in the other hand, moderators are becoming lenient in moderation, number of banned users reduce. Infact, there's a post in meta given every banned account a second chance. Things are changed honestly.

I don't think theymos personally handles those reports. But by all means, get me a big red Nuke button and I'll do it myself Tongue

It'd be great if you can do that. I reported his threads on technical board, but few of them remain "Unhandled". So I decided to make a reply to give reason moderator to delete it, where it contain many wrong information and invalid links[1].

With AI getting better and more widely used, it's only going to get worse unless AI/bot posts are dealt with promptly and the jackoffs who employ tools like that to basically wipe their asses with the forum are given a swift ban.
I count 49 deleted posts, 1 Merit (for a now deleted post), and no ban yet.
It seems like the mods are cool with having to have this ton of work in their hands, more like a proof of work because, users with this level of spamming and across significant local boards of the forum and the means at which these posts get by and generated need at least a temp ban for warning.

Looking at the ratio at which the user’s post are deleted, with over 49 deleted posts, 17 undeleted posts and only a single merit from Vod on a post that happens to have been deleted, you get the picture of what this user is about and a direction to what the user deserves or needs, needs to get Nuked!

Personally I think it is huge a problem.

It's huger than huge and has been for years.  With AI getting better and more widely used, it's only going to get worse unless AI/bot posts are dealt with promptly and the jackoffs who employ tools like that to basically wipe their asses with the forum are given a swift ban.

In my estimation, most users know best and generally ignore this type of spam. Most of it are reported to moderators who delete or lock such thread but  that is the best they can do .

Ignoring is fine, but my suggestion is to do it after you've made a report to the mods.  They rely on the community reporters to point them to problem posts and all sorts of things, and if one really cares for bitcointalk they ought to take the time to give them a heads-up when there's spam, suspected AI usage, zero-value posts, etc.

He posts everywhere, even on different local board. The use of automatic translation is likely a tool he uses to post his products on local boards, but 59 posts in 24 hours is simply absurd. It's not normal for a newbie to behave like that, but it seems @obtainhigh has a reason. A warning may be warranted for users who engage in such behavior, but reporting posts to moderators with the keyword "spam" will likely be handle positively.

 Spamming is def not allowed on the forum and I think this user knows it but doesn't give two shits. Also they may be a high attention seeker. Firstly, they started by posting in different local boards marketing their cannabis product and when that didn't garner enough attention, decided to post with different colored words and I don't know if that is acceptable here but it's quite a sore for the eyes.
 Everyday we keep seeing funny behaviors from noobs but this one is really weird. Something had better be done for his case before it gets out of hand.

How did this newbie get around the posting restriction?
Maybe someone whitelisted him. I checked: I didn't do it.

As long as it's properly translated I believe it is allowed.
I don't think he hired that many people to do a translation, which means he's (most likely) breaking this rule:
27. Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards is not allowed.
You're probably right of course, only 20 translated topics lmao. I was just stating that it's legal if done properly.

This user should be nuked immediately. Looking at post history[1], this user already create 67 posts since 2024-07-07 05:23:38 UTC[1] which is about 15 post/hour. He also create thread on technical board which contain false or unhelpful information, while being unnecessary long[2].

I've reported it as soon as I've seen it on the Spanish section like a couple of hours ago for breaking that rule and spamming all over the boards. He's going to get his posts deleted and probably banned. Just wait and see.

Looks like they're pushing a product dealing with cannabis and posting in all the local boards. As long as it's properly translated I believe it is allowed. I wouldn't get too worried about it at this point unless he continues to make a thousand posts in the next day.

It is a big problem.

He is spamming everywhere. Even in other people's threads.

Spam is not allowed.

I have checked the profile of the user and it seems the account was created to spam the forum. Personally I think it is huge a problem.

In my estimation, most users know best and generally ignore this type of spam. Most of it are reported to moderators who delete or lock such thread but  that is the best they can do .

I noticed another spam on this forum this week. Different users who just registered on the forum, their post talking about 1 confirmation and double spending. Another is something on how they beat Stake.

It is becoming too much though. My best guess is that it may be one person who created multiple accounts to do this or maybe it is a group of people.

I actually find it strange seeing such thing that look like posting with a bot. It will be difficult to convince me that that is not a bot posting and even at that, base on the rank, posting several posts in a day and all posts spaced within 2 to 3 minutes, actually seem weird. The activities is less than 15 so I wonder how the waiting time was broken and allow such number of posts within a short interval.
Quote
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);

I don't want to believe there is a bug in the forum software. But the truth is that the account will not last long in the forum if such posting style becomes a habit.
