I don't have any problems with the search function as long as I typed in the important word on it and I usually just type 1 word. And sometimes I google them too because the results are much faster.

I got literally 40 pages worth of results from using the forum search. You could reduce that number by specifying it to a certain board or by adding a new keyword. Google also returned 22.7k results so I don't see the problem here.

It's purely a matter of you specifying your search terms.

I use the google search option it's a bit better the main one totally sucks!

all I get using the google option is "loading"

As I've already asked before, I'll repeat the question: what are you trying to search for? i.e. what are your search parameters/keywords?

I wanted to know this because you stated that you retrieved no results from the forum search.

Just writing some code
The forum's search function is fairly poor and works very slowly. It is far better to use Google to perform your searches. This is easily done by appending site:bitcointalk.org to your search. This will limit the search to just pages on bitcointalk.

What are your search parameters? Remember that there's a dropdown menu for how specific you want the keywords to be: whether the results have to match all your keywords or any of them.
If you're searching for a great number of keywords then your results will be shrunk greatly, potentially to the point where there are no matches.

Google search is also probably what you want to use instead of the forum search.

I also suggest using google search rather than using the search in the forum. There you can find a much better result. I understand your struggles since I somehow search something and came empty handed or there are tons of results which are not sorted out to the most helpful and to those who are less. In Google search, you can find some of the things you want in the forum itself that is by typing the name of the forum or if you want to diversify and try other sources then that would be nice. Still, in the forum you can understand way more than those bookish definition which really hard to comprehend at some point. Also you might want to try and visit the Bitcoin Wiki. Here's the link if you want to check it out: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page

Stultorum infinitus est numerus
Try searching your keyword on a category, instead of the whole main page of Bitcointalk. You should be able to find better results, well. You'll find results that way.

Almost every time I search something on this forum it comes up with zero results. Then I do some looking around and find tons of posts on that subject?

Edit: Use the Google search
