You want create a faucet for an altcoin? maybe if you choose wisely you can identify a good coin without faucet and then working on it.
But I don't think it really worth the effort.
Yes. I'm more inclined to make a faucet for an altcoin, than Bitcoin since there are many faucets around that giveaway satoshis for free. Usually, it would be best to pick up an altcoin which doesn't have a faucet to take advantage of the situation, and make good profit once it becomes viral.
But I believe that it would take a lot of effort to achieve success with this, so in the meantime I will just test it out on a free host.
Not at all. You'll be spending hours a day promoting your faucet and running anti-bot/cheat measures. It may seem like a fun experience as it's a new idea and all (and with a bit of profit, it's a win-win!), but trust me when I say the fun will be gone, along with a few bitcoins out of your pocket, in a few weeks/months.
Making a faucet is only good if you have a large amount of bitcoins you're willing to spend to get it started up, as well as the commitment. You also won't be seeing profit at all for the first few months, as someone mentioned above. Even after that point, the going will be slow.
Not worth it.
Thanks for your advice, mate. I will take that into consideration when launching my own faucet towards the public. But in the meantime, I will test out some faucet scripts within a free web hosting provider, just to see how it works and at the same time gain knowledge by building the same for a specific altcoin.
Later, I would consider to go serious with this when I have obtained a good amount of capital, to get started with this project. It would be nice to see how it would turn out to be, especially with an altcoin which lacks a faucet.
