The vast majority of American do not care what the U.S. Government does, and will not care as long as their government checks don't bounce.

The US is turning out to be a classic example of a welfare state. And the financial situation will worsen if this situation is not changed. Taxes are increasing in almost all the states. Federal taxes are also increasing (they recently hiked the Caps gain tax).

Probably because people see what is taking place and they are afraid to speak out for fear of being targeted for some kind of attack.

Every major decision the US has made in regards to the welfare of it's people seems to have been majorly criticized on most fronts, most noticeably the NSA scandal that broke a while ago. Despite this, it has been 9 months since the revelation and nothing has been done in reaction to it. Why do you think so?
