nc50lc, update on the new version does not cost anything, but I doubt it will solve the OP problem. As far as I saw nobody even reported on GitHub that such a problem exists with bitcoin transactions, and all that is added / fixed in new Electrum version related to Ledger is support for Nano X.

Since OP and TryNinja have a similar problem, they might try a new version and give us some info.

I know it's a bit late but Electrum just released v3.3.5 today with the release note of Ledger Nano X compatibility fix.
Your Nano S might work using that version as well.

* hardware wallets:
   - Ledger: Nano X is now recognized (#5140)
   - KeepKey:
     - device was not getting detected using Windows binary (#5165)
     - support firmware 6.0.0+ (#5205)
   - Trezor: implemented "seedless" mode (#5118)

It's worth the try.

Then this problem is not related with the number of inputs, it is something else. But by searching for such problem I find nothing, so we can assume that this does not affect a large number of users, but all of you obviously have something in common. Has this started to happen after update of new firmware, or maybe new bitcoin app?

It would be good to report this issue to Ledger and to Electrum, so that they can make some fix.

The same happens to me and I usually only have 1-3 inputs. I’ve tried with a 1 input and 1 output transaction and the problem persists. (BTC btw)

I also use Nano S+Electrum, all updated to latest version, and I have not experienced such problems. The same problem has been reported on GitHub but with Zcoin, and some user is take Nano S seed and create wallet in Electrum with that seed (which is certainly not a clever move), and problem with sign transaction is gone. Based on that problem is in Nano S, and very likely because transaction is have a lot of inputs which Nano S can not properly process.

RichestLizza, you can try to use Ledger Live and consolidate your inputs (send your coins to 1 or 2 address), and then try again Nano S+Electrum.

Since when is this the case ?

Unfortunately i am not at home currently, so can't test it. Did it happen after an update for something ? Or did it randomly occur ?
I will definitely test signing a transaction via nano s + electrum when at home and report the result here.
This has been happening for a couple of months. I’m not sure what caused it, but I already accepted the delay and have been using the Ledger + Electrum for some time (the Ledger Live doesn’t have a ‘send max’ button).

I’ll probably end up reinstalling my OS when I have the time.

Does it finally show up on your Ledger after you wait a few minutes?

Mine does the same for some reason. I click Send/Sign and nothing happens for 3~5 minute. Then, suddenly, it shows in my Nano S. I confirm the tx on it and then need to wait another ~3 minutes to have the tx broadcasted.

This only happens when using Electrum. On the Ledger Live, everything works fast.

Usually this is done pretty fast.

How many inputs is your transaction consuming ? A (very) large amount of inputs can delay the process of signing by a lot.

Additionally, please answer these questions:
  • What OS are you using ?
  • What electrum version are you using ?
  • What nano s firmware version are you using ?
  • Is your BTC app (on the nano s) up-to-date ?

Tried but don't work.

Weird, Ledger Nano S should show text which ask confirmation whether to accept/reject sign transaction from Electrum wallet.

You might want to reopen Electrum and use different port to connect Ledger Nano S to your computer.

I use Electrum with Ledger Nano S. After I create a transaction using Electrum and click Send, a message saying "Confirm Transaction on your ledger device".

But nothing happens on the Ledger Nano S. I waited hours already!

What should I do?
