I wouldn't say it's because of desperation, yes they've become the ground zero, but we have to understand that Red Cross is a Humanitarian Organisation, so they are committed to protect every Italian citizen and one way to do it is thru our donations

Italy is really facing the great burden because of the virus. They have even higher deaths compared to other countries. We have to admit the power of Bitcoin in this situation. This project of Red Cross is very much helpful in providing extra care and assistance to the medical field. At this very moment we should be exercising compassion and generosity by way of donating even with a small amount of Bitcoin because it will still matter. Not all countries have the option to donate in their respective Red Cross via crypto. But the good thing here is that they are now recognizing the power of btc transaction in situation like this. No third party interference. Just send some satoshis to their wallet from your wallet and that's it. I hope there is something like that also in my country where we are also currently lockdown. I guess we are all in lockdown.

With the condition of the economic weakening of the euro against the dollar, it will certainly be a very good impact if Europe can accept bitcoin to combat Covid-19 of course this is also a tool to stabilize the price of the euro against the USD given the pace of the economies of European countries in recent weeks indeed very weak because of the lockdown that occurs, hopefully this is also applied by some countries that have been exposed to corona

That’s good. In my country it’s not like that, the red cross in my country is only accepting MasterCard, Visa, and PayPal. Though that’s not something I’m worried, they can accept whatever they want, I believe that’s a method they are convenient with and it makes things easy for them.

So, a few times that I have donated to them that wasn’t of concern to me, I just donate with my MasterCard card. But it’s good that the organization in Italy is recognizing bitcoin and allowing people to make payment with it. I know for sure that some people who make use of bitcoin will feel motivated to donate, there are lots of people who are looking for this kind of opportunity of using their BTC for good.

I guess the initial was just a test $10000 worth of bitcoin was not that but. And then think they that it might work to get more people to donate in the cause, and what better way to do it but to utilise crypto currency again. I agree that it should be adapted by other countries, but majority are really fighting very hard that's why we haven't seen them readily accepting bitcoin as donations.

Bitcoin really has step up in the times of crisis, in this type of situation switching to Cryptocurrency is the most convenient thing to do rather than using local paper money possibly endangering their very lives with physical transaction and getting infected with the virus and also we'll expect the employment rate to drop. Those who have extra money can donate without any hesitation, but if your budget is only enough for your needs and the people around you then its ok to prioritize your own country. That's my understanding as well--and I'm pretty sure Italy tops the list as far as the countries that have been hit hardest.

I've sent bitcoin a few times recently, and it seems like the network is pretty congested. Not sure if everyone else is having that issue, but I've had to up the network fees significantly just to get a confirmation within a few hours. While the transactions will go through eventually, it would be kind of a pain in the ass for the Red Cross to have to wait for funds coming in via bitcoin donations. That's a great initiative to help the people in Italy. frankly speaking I don't know why the Italians have been hit so greatly with this pandemic but I think this is the least of help people all across the globe can be off help to them. Hearing the news that in Italy in 1 day 300 more corona virus patients die I know this is very concerned with the situation in Italy getting worse like this, with there donations like this might be enough to update the corona virus patients there are so many donations that go into I think this donation will reach their target because all over the world we care about the corona virus so many patients are in dire need of it.

The project's goal is way too small-only 10,000 USD.It has gathered more than 14,9K USD from only 27 donations!
So the average donation is around 553,81 USD!I guess that the project isn't promoted enough across social media platforms.27 donations is a really low amount.The funds haven't been used yet.
It's a great initiative and platforms like Helperbit can help for bitcoin mass adoption and fighting the coronavirus at once.

it is interesting that they have already received $10000 worth of bitcoin which is about 2 bitcoins since during times when price is dropping or had a big drop like these days people are rarely willing to spend their bitcoins (or donate). they either go back to cold storage hodling or they panic sell at a loss after the drop was ended.

In times like this, cryptocurrency and Bitcoin will be more appreciated because of it's digital characteristic, amidst the dreadful spread of the pandemic which physical fiat currency isn't an exemption to transmit the virus.
Everyone is encouraged to do payments through online to avoid transmitting the virus through the paper money.

Im afraid there would only be small amount that can be pooled for this charity because people in most part of the globe has been severely affected by the covid-19 and they as well needs funds to survive.
