I still do the airdrops though, I just don't post on the threads anymore Grin

From my experience, Airdrops are worthless and they cost your privacy. Even your reputation here, as if you participate in this kind of threads you will be tagged as a spammer.

I think you should consider ignoring those Airdrops and most bounties and focus your time in your education about blockchain. It will pay. You will get more money ranking up your account and learning than participating in those spamming boards for few cents..

Look what Antonopoulos has to say about it

Merit was created to stop spammers from ranking up. Judging by your post history, you started as a "bounty spammer", but quickly changed into making decent posts. I don't think you should be restricted by the Merit system.
Therefore, I broke a personal record: meriting 3 different posts in the same second.

Yeah, I initially came to know of this forum because of airdrops posted on external sites, and that was my main use for a while. But after a bit I decided to explore the other sections of the forum, because it's much more interesting there, and there's not a lot you can say on the bounty threads without it getting drowned out by other stuff.

Anyway, thanks for the merits you guys, I didn't expect that. I guess it's time for me to spread it around too! Glad I could help you break a record Loyce, lol

I suppose if I had visited that thread I probably would have educated myself about bitcoin ports
but now I know its about running nodes it wouldnt interest me, much the same as mining so I
dont visit the mining board or the gambling board because i would have no input.

Wow lots of merits, and enough to rank up.
That will teach the buggers to ignore Jet Cash's threads

It took nine hours to get a reply to this thread about the Bitcoin port.
I don't think this is an interesting subject for the average newbie.

Thanks for giving us lower-level members some opportunities to earn merits!

I like that you are fishing for a good newbie. Unfortunately the pool of candidates is filled with old boots, tires, and the odd bloated corpse.

What is nice is that the patience paid off and you got a solid response from a low ranked member.

I'm not sure if the timeframe you waited is indicative of the more literate bounty hunters leaving, and the remaining are only the laziest and the bots. Unwilling to do some research and put in some effort, for the promise of reward.

For reference, I'm the person that responded to the question

I think for that post specifically it was just timing. For me personally, I'm in the US, and it was posted at 1 am my time, so I'm not going to see it for at least 8 hours. And if you don't sort the board by first post, that's a lot of time for it to get buried by replies in other topics.

The question you posted before, in contrast, was posted at 9am my time, when more English-speaking forum users are likely to be awake, probably being why it got more responses.

I don't think it was a technically difficult question. Granted, I'm a computer engineering major, so I knew some of the basic stuff about ports and connections, but I still needed to look things up as it related to Bitcoin. I think anyone who would take 5-10 minutes to do some searching would have found the answers pretty easily, regardless of previous technical knowledge.

Thanks for giving us lower-level members some opportunities to earn merits! Hopefully it also helps the other members see examples of good quality posts/responses in a more visible manner

It's fairly basic if you are considering running a node. I hoped that I could get some of them to look up the answer in Google so that they can learn a bit about Bitcoin.

A couple of the other threads that I started received a couple of replies early on that were reasonably good, and then they seem to get a load of following replies that are just rehashes of the previous ones. I guess that confirms your comment.

That's a very technical question, and even though you made it clear in the title that you'd give merits for answers, it doesn't surprise me no one answered it quickly.  A lot of users here are for bounties only, and a good proportion of them are dirt-poor and uneducated and likely aren't here for anything related to bitcoin.  In other words, they just want the money and not to teach themselves anything, and they wouldn't be able to answer the question if they tried.

To be fair, I couldn't answer it either.  What surprises me is that no one tried to plagiarize an answer.

I thought that the thread was too simple, but obviously not. It makes me wonder if it is worth trying to upgrade that board.

Actually, it really annoys me, especially as they are constantly whining about how they can't get any merits.
