Could you elaborate your point, if you want to track a specific bitcoin address you can user this site

https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/0000574a52f90da4?from_address=3DUgK59qeL6RpD7wJxi2satEv9BwkArHT8

It provides further details than what usual bitcoin explorer provides. But i do not understand the purpose of asking the police to freeze the account and whether they are able to do that. If you have evidence then you can file a report but the level of investigation depends upon your region and country.

yep i do agree with this guy, me personally got scammed lot of time  Grin Grin Grin and police usually can't track down the transcation even they do there will be another problem the scammer maybe in another world from you and case closed

Do your own research before investing Smiley

It should be noticed the reasons why bitcoin and other digital currencies are not central, so any exchanges doing with cryptocurrencies forms of money should be finished with a dependable source, in other to get rid of such issue.
Not all because there are other coins out there which can really held off such transactions if they wanted to. Not all coins/projects in this market is totally on that decentralized side of things.
Tracing up bitcoin might not be possible for other or they do believe on that but there are some exceptions or situations. Ex. Take a look on what CipherTrace been doing when it comes
to tracing transactions? Some are indeed found on where those coins originated from and where it did able to land.
Even though its been traced or known but reversing transaction is really impossible.

I am sorry to say but you cannot get back your coins. Blockchain is a block of transactions ( lots of transactions) , and among that we cannot find a single transaction. That's why i always prefer a some reputed third party website to buy some stuff by cryptocurrency. Crypto currency transaction is a peer to peer transaction. That's means no third party involved between Sender and Receivers.

So technically we should take precaution and think the consequence before dealing with cryptocurrency. Because our rewards will depend on what we do.

But yes you can take the screenshot to show the receiver that you already paid for the item, Hope you will get good response from the receiver.

This is all your answers right here-  by now you must know it is not possible to trace a BITCOIN transaction.

The guy that you sent you BITCOIN to doesnt have to send them back and sadly you might be out of some BITCOIN here.

Let this be a lesson for you.

okay, so I guess I just need to learn from my mistakes and move on.

Yes, In the crypto world this is quite impossible to trace any transaction. Because of decentralization, this is not possible to trace. If you mistakenly send any amount in any wallet. You can't get it back. If the guy damn honest and if he send it back then you get it. Otherwise your money gonna lost. Finally we can say that if you made any mistake then learn a lesson from it.

You're making it sound as if no one has ever gone to prison because they were sloppy or held similar beliefs to you when transacting, and got caught because it was eventually possible to connect a transaction to their real-life identity in the course of an investigation of a crime.

Bitcoin is ;

-Anonymous
-Decentralized
-Irreversible transaction

With this features or qualities alone then you can already tell that there no chance on tracking someone who do held off those coins.
If you get scammed then say goodbye to your coins yet theres no other way to retreive those funds that you had transacted.
If btc transactions can be reverted nor can be traced then Bitcoin wont really be popular as we can see now.

This is all that you can do with it. You can't take the money back unless the culprit is apprehended in real world, which is also harder because they might not be from your country. This serves as a lesson for you and everyone else, next time make sure that you get the product first especially if it is a P2P transaction.

In the first place he should know not send the coins if he is not 100% trusted the recipient that he will send you the product or you know the seller very well, Cryptocurrency works on trust, because of it's no third party feature, you cannot recover that unless you trace the location of the receiver, or next time do an escrow.

You can easily track your transaction. Use a site like Block explorer. All you need to know is is the information about the Bitcoin address of the recipient and the amount of Bitcoins you sent. And you will see if your transaction is confirmed.

It's easy to check your transaction with that of your bitcoin address itself and you can check the many transaction from that wallet. If you send 0.1 bitcoin to certain wallet,  you can  check that 0.1 bitcoin transferred to how many wallet. But the issue is,you can't trace the originally residential address of that person  Grin Grin

In the event that we see news about programmers getting captured through their Bitcoin addresses, at that point, I figure it is conceivable that you can do the equivalent as well. In any case, on the off chance that you proceeded with the police and we are simply discussing a limited quantity of cash for them to try and waste time with I question that they will do some sort of activity as quick as what they are doing to cheats that take a huge number of trades. No doubt the person who has defrauded you just left a little impression on the web which will likewise add to him being more enthusiastically to get. On the off chance that the cash won't be justified, despite all the trouble to get him I simply acknowledge that I lose that cash and proceed onward.

okay, so I guess I just need to learn from my mistakes and move on.

I wouldn't throw millions of hours or dollars at it but report it at least and keep googling the address. You never know, the hacker might be caught further down the line and if you're on record as having lost something you might get something back if they're linked to you as well. A very long shot indeed but it won't hurt to do it.

If we see news about hackers getting caught through their Bitcoin addresses then I think it is possible that you can do the same too. However if you went ahead with the police and we are just talking about a small amount of money for them to even be bother with I doubt that they will do some kind of action as fast as what they are doing to thieves that steals millions of exchanges. Most likely the one who have scammed you only left a small footprint in the web which will also contribute to to him being harder to catch. If the money won't be worth it to catch him I just accept that I lose that money and move on.

I've honestly never heard of a private individual tracking down someone else and getting their money back. If your coins go to a known exchange address you could attempt to contact them and see what they say.

Most of the time only realistic chance is law enforcement getting involved and a large enough number of victims to interest them. Even then they may come up with nothing.

Thanks for the answers and information.
But maybe it's worth to try to hire some layer to track the person and get back the money? If the amount is pretty high?
Or it's not worth at all and just forget about it...

Hello,

Recently I have sent btc to a guy who was selling some stuff and till now I haven't received what I paid for, so my question is if it's even possible to somehow get back the coins or trace the guy who received the coins?

You can try looking up if the coins ended on some known exchange or service, if so, you can report the crime at the police and send them the police report, they might freeze the coins at least.

The coins are gone unfortunately. There's no way of directly retrieving them.

As for tracing the thief it depends.

Some people are incredibly lazy and keep reusing the same address. The thief might post the address again somewhere online and link it to a real world clue. Google the address you sent it to and see if anything comes up and do it every now and then in future too.

If you manage to identify them, and that's a very long shot, law enforcement are unlikely to give a shit sadly but you never know.
Fact!

This is why its much better to move on than stressing out yourself and wait up for long just for you to find out that person. Then whats next? making legal action? that would surely cost even more.

For you op, theres no way on tracing it back nor reversing the transactions thats why you should really be careful on making transactions online.

Always use escrow when in doubt and if not then try to stick to those sellers that do have lots of positive feedbacks and recommendations.

Treat this situation as charged to your experience and making yourself aware on next time same scenarios.

No, transactions are irreversible.
If you could get your coins back just by clicking, bitcoin would be worthless, right?

Quote
or trace the guy who received the coins?
You can't trace the guy, but you can trace the BITCOINS you sent in the blockchain using the address.

You can go to https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/***** and change *** for the address you sent your coins too.

You will be able to see if he sent it or not to another address, but that's all you can do.

Did you buy anything in this forum? I can tag the user. You can make an scam accusation against him. Have you contact him already?
