Topic: I've been awake for days trying to get claymore miner to work. (Read 721 times)
I tried out Zcash. Im still getting low hash rate on 3 cards.
Ive managed to get one rig of 7979's running fine on windows 10.
Im having issues with my 280x's. I get 6 cards running in the beginning but then windows suddenly blacks out and restarts.
ive tried all kinds of drivers, DDU refreshing, replacing risers, PSU's, fresh window installs. I can't work out what it is.
Last 48 hours ive been up trying.
One card is hanging on low mh/s

yeah claymore zcash is the way to go.
Those cards are better on Zcash mining, try claymore miner for zcash
Those gpu's are too old to mine eth efficiently, dag buffer size has grown too big. Most propably it is more profitable to mine equihash based coins with them.

As per title. It's almost 9am and I've been up for days on end wiping OS systems, installing AMD drivers for clean installs and trying to figure out how to mine ethereum.
Here's the backstory.
Me and my dad setup 30 GPU's last year to mine ethereum. It was setup by our uncle who is a programmer, he used ubuntu at the time and bought some kind of preloaded qtminer software that seemed to work most of the time but not all of the time. The rigs were left sitting in a clean shed but upon start almost a year later all of the USB's were dead and only 2 or 3 cards would mine when turned out. He had written a script so that they would all start mining on startup.
We're trying to get it started back up. The GPU's arent bad, they're R9 270s, 280s and GTX 980s ect. At the time they were decent cards and we've made coins from them. But we want to get back into mining and its been my responsbility to take and work everything out, pending this, we will invest in a few more gpu's and new psu's.
So here's my dilemma. AMD has a problem with ubuntu. They seem to have discontinued driver development for our cards? It was a pain in the ass to even try and install them on ubuntu, being unfamiliar with the system it all involved long hours of youtubing installs and typing in codes, trying to unload components and packages. It just wouldn't work and AMD wouldn't update as files were missing apparently.
I'm on a clean install of Windows 7 with Crimson Radeon Software 17.4.4, and a R9 200 series 280x. At least that is working.
Yesterday, before I had to wipe the OS, ethminer was working and sending 25Mh/s somewhere. I tried to get the second card working but that screwed everything up. FYI, there are two mroe cards on USB risers on the motherboard, with power the fans turn on, but they are not recognised at all by the motherboard. I've tried every possible combination switch of USB risers, including using the riser that works for the graphics card online now. it doesn't work.
I think the first goal is to try and find out what is wrong with trying to use one GPU. Im using claymore, or at least trying too. These are the errors im getting.

Here's the backstory.
Me and my dad setup 30 GPU's last year to mine ethereum. It was setup by our uncle who is a programmer, he used ubuntu at the time and bought some kind of preloaded qtminer software that seemed to work most of the time but not all of the time. The rigs were left sitting in a clean shed but upon start almost a year later all of the USB's were dead and only 2 or 3 cards would mine when turned out. He had written a script so that they would all start mining on startup.
We're trying to get it started back up. The GPU's arent bad, they're R9 270s, 280s and GTX 980s ect. At the time they were decent cards and we've made coins from them. But we want to get back into mining and its been my responsbility to take and work everything out, pending this, we will invest in a few more gpu's and new psu's.
So here's my dilemma. AMD has a problem with ubuntu. They seem to have discontinued driver development for our cards? It was a pain in the ass to even try and install them on ubuntu, being unfamiliar with the system it all involved long hours of youtubing installs and typing in codes, trying to unload components and packages. It just wouldn't work and AMD wouldn't update as files were missing apparently.
I'm on a clean install of Windows 7 with Crimson Radeon Software 17.4.4, and a R9 200 series 280x. At least that is working.
Yesterday, before I had to wipe the OS, ethminer was working and sending 25Mh/s somewhere. I tried to get the second card working but that screwed everything up. FYI, there are two mroe cards on USB risers on the motherboard, with power the fans turn on, but they are not recognised at all by the motherboard.
