no the idea was you would be able to chain together multiple devices, as far as im aware they never finished developing (i think the 500ghs miners had to use usb hubs because of there half assed attempts)

Chain in/out refer to two ports present on the BFL ASIC 65nm HW.
IIRC BFL was never able to successfully implement that.
