This is the same country that requires pixels on people's genitals in porn Tongue

Yet they're just getting around to banning child porn now. Although the article says it was also banned in 1999?

Well Japan is pretty crazy Tongue and yes >_< I hate them for censoring porn, especially when you take into account that Japanese girls are the ones I like the most! OVERTHROW THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!

anyway why they must be sensor  Grin

Japan bans child pornography possession
i agree with this because child still pure, need more parental guarding and they still can't decide the way of life
If Japan do not ban child pornography, it will significantly decreasing morale of Japanase

Was a bit curious why you wrote it in Comic Sans (Yes it got my attention lol)

As in regards to the CP that part is fine but

I don't buy into that protectionist line of reason that seems to be suggested it is the same rabbit hole that leads to tire swings, wooden bridges you cross and those things you spin around really fast and ride on getting obsoleted in replacement for *safer* alternatives

If you don't have some light scrapes when your young learning not to be too reckless, you tend to be more reckless later so learning when its just a boo boo makes more sense to me than learning it far too late where it could hurt you more because you didn't learn that going too fast hurts when your a kid Smiley (or you get dizzy if you walk in circles and let that chain spin up on the tire swing ^_^)
But that is an aside about playground equipment.

Monitor observe and help not cordone helicopter over and trap in a protective bubble. In terms of parental guarding and that purity B/S let them learn their life lessons but help them out (Thinking Boy Meets World and Fini or Cory's parents not interfering to much but always there for advice and help and to assist if they run into an issue that they can't overcome alone)
At least that is what I think the right philosophy would be

In regards to anime and manga as long as we have Touhou and the Kagerou Project (vid below) (Metaku City Actors for those who want to see the anime)
And creative freedom to create engaging stories I don't mind just want to make sure there is no spillover effects in the law and that's where I would draw the line.

I am a big fan of anime and manga so it may come as no surprise that I am a bit placid on this law since it opens the door to arresting people who have doujins and similar fan works, the Japanese anime and manga industry is world wide and very popular so I feel it is not in our jurisdiction to set an agenda of censorship on their works.

Simply put it may be off the agenda for now but I'm sure at some point in the future someone somewhere will push this envelope further.

My concern is that they will kill the Visual Novel industry and the Clannad, Air, Little Busters, School Days Higurashi type of series because the protagonist is a teenager etc.
Or the anime industry just because it has a few fan service scenes like the Onsen (Hot Springs) or Swimsuit episodes lol.
Think of the Virtual Children line of logic.

As you can tell I have a pro Japan and anti censorship agenda so my response is FU western sensibilities its not your right to impose a set of beliefs on another country, especially one that has a lot more creativity in story line and depth.

Example: Elfen Lied, Gundam (Seed Mode) , Seikoku no Dragonar , No Game No Life, Black Bullet Eden of the East just to name a few would fall under that for nudity if that law was expanded which are great series.

As to the BBC note that it would impinge on freedom of expression and allow authorities to make arbitrary decisions about art it does have the potential to do so, due to increasing regulation so I hope it does not change the culture around the industry and works are still created freely without fear of prosecution, we need creative artists and Japan is one of the few that allows all areas of thought even those consider Taboo in Western societies to be developed into interesting and engaging storylines.

Molester Man anyone ^_^ (http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/molester-man-r7471) One of my favorite mangas its damn Good.

Just my 2 cents on this.

Oh and One more thing Death to ISHIHARA! (For those that get the Tokyo reference)

Make that two

OVERTHROW THE BRITANNIA GOVERNMENT! VIVA LA REVOLUTION! LONG LIVE THE ELEVENS! JAPANESE

I thought Japan had banned child pornography years ago, obviously I was wrong. I am a supporter of freedom of speech, but child pornography is a different issue.

The ban does not apply to animation or to comic art known as manga.

They would nave never been able to do this thing in Japan.
Manga and doujinshi are extremely popular and with lot of artists and with huge fairs as Comiket which attracted over 500 000 participants.

Not only there are lots of people involved but there will be also an economical blow to the electric town Akibahara.

Of course , there are a few comics I saw that I could say out loud they have crossed the line but , it's still comics , they aren't doing this in real life.
I have to admit , it is indeed a bit annoying when I check the animes my nephew watches and half on the time I see only heroins with DD taking baths or getting their clothes shredded just to make them more sexy , but I don't think it's that dangerous. It's up to the parents of the kid.

One other thing. Since my country is one of the worse in terms of wages and income , its a real target for pedo tourists. Rather than hunting those down one by one , the guys in the government should think about eradicating this from the source.

One small thought.

I understand your concern. We used to think that only acts could be criminal, and that there could be no crime with words or pictures, but times have changed, not for the better. I guess the police of thoughts is coming next.

Yes, you read that right, they actually took a fairly reasoned and rational approach to this and made sure it was only real child pornographic images that were banned which made the response by opponents a bit baffling to me but I can understand the concern. Now this is a pretty touchy subject particularly among the ever irrational "PROTECT THE CHILDREN" crowd but one thing I've noticed and I promise you I actually looked through this. Almost every major news outlet ( except ABC ) has disabled the comments on this kind of news and they act in their articles outraged at and they do that wonderful thing of trying to paint all manga/anime artists as potential paedophiles blah blah blah ( thankfully the BBC managed to show restraint in their writing about this but of course decided to weigh in with someone who obviously thought that way ) I know I'm probably going to regret this given that there are religious people are trolling around the board but do you guys think it's fair the way people just randomly throw virtual images in with anything else real 'just in case'?

I'm of course instantly biased in this argument because I am a freedom of speech extremist but I just can't stand these kind of tactics, it's bad enough people throw around these kind of accusations and lets be honest they always have used the tactics of blocking any comments from people that would disagree with them because they know not everyone thinks the way they do. The best example I could find of why this is an extremely bad idea is pretty old but it displays exactly why I despise this kind of thinking and think it's a dangerous attempt at policing peoples thought processes.

Yes, this is real, I'll search around for more articles from other news sites to verify the information, I'm a guy who likes large breasts and even I find this pathetic! >_< The issue of course isn't about child pornography I think we can all agree that the real stuff is really bad, what's ridiculous to me is the censorship of a bunch of pixels by making it even more pixelated or jailing somebody for drawing it

p.s. Religious people, please don't try to convince me or lecture me on morality, I don't mind you having a discussion about it here at all Wink but I've already made my mind up and I'll proceed to mock you about how many actual convicted child paedophiles are being caught within the very religious circles that peddle this way of thinking, sorry, I immediately want to get into a fight when it comes to censorship Tongue
