Jeb Bush could have been the worst possible GOP candidate. I am glad that he is trailing in the polls. Jeb Bush in 2016 would have fared even worse than McCain in 2008 and Romney in 2012. He represents only the establishment faction of the Republicans, and a large number of the Republican voters will either stay at home, or vote for a third party candidate if he becomes the GOP nominee.

I don't know about that as a viable strategy since the GOPer politicians told the absolute truth in both mid terms and ended up absolutely shellacking -- by Obama's own admission -- the Dems. So unlike -- say -- Obama or Hillary, I suspect that the GOPers will again just tell the truth about things. It should be interesting.

You severely underestimate the Bush camp. They are masters at elections, they are very connected and they have tons of money, its still way early. Wait until they start digging into Trumps past to try and find (or fabricate) things he has done illegally in business deals or ways he swindled money from investors or things he did that violated SEC regulations in some sort of stock deal or pay some former Miss America contestant to come out and say he made sexual advances towards her etc...Its coming.

As a hard-Right economic Conservative, I'm very suspicious of the Bush machine... and perversely enough, would find more of benefit to the country today in the Clinton machine -- except for the fact that it wouldn't be Bill leading it. But Bush? Well, maybe I've just grown too cynical. Having a deceitful, jive-ass clown like Obama in the Presidency for eight years has left me despairing and very distrustful. Between "Daddy" Bush and his idiot son, "W", we've seen one economy-altering bailout and "rescue" after another, launched, and re-launched. We've seen the negligent financial sector "captains of industry" get off scott-free and make even larger piles of money after being saved from the consequences of financial train wrecks that they caused! This was all done by the Federal Reserve combine, but it was always initiated during Bush administrations! IMO, they were all in it together... "as thick as thieves".

Now we're hearing the Jebster starting to mouth some increasing familiar "Republican" themes, like cutting Social Security benefits to people who have EARNED them. We've heard similar things from "Crusader Rick" Santorum, and Governor Butter-tub Christie, who are solid, single-digit contenders....

The closest to Trump's post-debate 23 percent was Ted Cruz, moving up from a sixth-place tie to claim second place with 13 percent. Ben Carson also got a boost, moving up from being tied for fourth place to sole possession of third place, with 11 percent. Behind these three were Carly Fiorina and Marco Rubio, both at 8 percent support. The two big losers, however, were Jeb Bush and Scott Walker, who moved from being tied for second place down to being tied for sixth place, with only 7 percent support. That's a pretty big drop for both of them, neither of whom can now claim to be even close to "frontrunner" status. Rand Paul and Mike Huckabee both got 5 percent, and no other candidate got better than 2 percent.

Jeb Bush has dropped to 7% support with Scott Walker in equal 6 th place. Bush appears dead in the water and there is probably no recovery from here unless Trump and five others above him tank.
