It has been a while since this particular job posting has been around, I believe. Of course, as a huge company Apple needs to adapt to the changes and dynamics of the economy. Also recently, it has been apparent that the population is slowly being introduced and familiar to cryptocurrencies, and it's only a matter of time before the population gets used to cryptocurrencies as part of their options for payments. Apple, being one of the largest companies in the world, would surely not want to miss that. Even more so if the society as a whole moves to the direction of cryptocurrencies.

So there's a big possibility that Apple Pay is going to accept crypto payments in the future? BTC? ETH? or maybe Doge?  Grin

Being a business you always need to adapt to changes which is essential for your growth. The United States have huge people involved in cryptocurrencies and making transaction with btc and other coins so Apple maybe thinking of it integrating crypto payments with their own wallet to facilitate these transactions and earn fees over them. They step into new business like announcement of apple e-car by 2024 and similar statement could be given that Apple e-wallets start to accept crypto who knows?

But it's just a normal talk as they are hiring a person with digital wallet experience in most advanced fields as making crypto wallets require a lot of technical setup behind and keeping the records of every UTXO set and making changes with any transaction and coordinate with other nodes. So they might be looking for such experienced developer and we have took this into long hype of discussion.Maybe we don't know what's going to happen.

That “product”, I hope, will not be the development for another shitcoin/token to use as “rewards” for their appstore. That’s the only reason, i believe of why Apple is looking for people with cryptocurrency experience to hire. It will be ironic because Apple is one of the biggest tech companies in the world.
This is what I thought so, it doesn't automatically mean that Apple will accept bitcoin or any other crypto, they might be looking to development their own coins. Or at least crypto that is low in fee and has a transaction speed.

Of course, it will be closer to adoption if a huge company such as Apple started to accept crypto, but we shouldn't jump on the conclusion yet.

Nope, I totally doubt this is the case. They're already fighting antitrust/monopoly cases among other things that them creating their own cryptocurrency would just attract more attention and heat from the SEC. I could almost guarantee that a lot of their shareholders would exit if they indeed create their own cryptocurrency; pretty much shooting their own foot. They're most definitely a lot smarter than that.

I love how the crypto community blows everything out of proportion..
They are hiring one person and they are seeking somebody who has 5 years of experience in digital payments, of any kind, it's not mandatory to have that experience in cryptocurrency but having it does qualify it for the job if they wanted somebody specifically for a crypto project they would have made that mandatory.
And if they did plan on doing so, don't you think they would have hired more than 1 person with such experience?
This is Amazon all over again

Apple is a visionary company and quite progressive as well.

I saw that exact same line a thousand times in February but with Tesla, be careful who you praise, you might end up hating Cook more than Musk in a few months.

5+ years experience working in digital wallets and crypto? Huh, it would be nice to see a built-in crypto wallet (or perhaps apple will use their own wallet app) with several coins (btc, eth, ltc) as an option to make payments besides Apple Pay of couse. Apple accepting crypto payments will be yet another big push for adoption, and you just know the BTC price will skyrocket if such news come out the near future. Exciting times in the cryptosphere

Maybe. Probably when Coinbase released their earnings report Apple was like "dude wtf this crypto thing is a cash cow, let's get in on that" or something like that.

Don't get your hopes up though, requiring knowledge in a certain product probably doesn't necessarily mean that the product they're going to be working on is going to be about that certain product.

Apple is a visionary company and quite progressive as well. So I wouldn't be surprised if cryptocurrency payment options starts appearing in Apple pay. But even if Apple adopts cryptocurrency, that will be very limited to a certain number of countries like USA, UK, Germany, Japan etc. Where the governments have favorable legal structures for cryptocurrencies.

Good to see that corporates like Apple showing interest in cryptocurrencies as a payment method but not as an investment, considering a plie of cash Apple is currently sitting onto!

That is what it seems like. Looking for someone with that much experience in cryptocurrency could mean that they will hopefully be accepting cryptocurrency as a payment or looking towards that direction in the future.
