Personally I think that bitcoin will likely end up being replaced by something faster and more secure before the network is done propagating.

I thought, he talks about Bitcoin cos his company (McAfee) is started to accept Bitcoin for the payment.
The fact is doesn't like what I expected Cheesy

I heard he stepped down from the CEO position and is now running for president?

if this actually happens I don't forsee it happening any time soon. In the event that this newer more appears it will likely take time for BTC prices to lower and people adopt the replacement.

We should be able to see that coin coming from a mile away. The next big thing won't pop up out of nowhere. There will be extensive security and bug testing before that. No new coin will be able to take its place. Any coin should be in use for the longest time to prove it has no serious bugs that could result in major problems down the road.

Of course the future holds a digital currency. That's obvious, right?
Governments want that currency to be taxable,  traceable, controllable, etc.
A decentralized digital currency is the thing he's talking about, where govts would need to revamp their tax thinking.
Important distinction there. coz we will soon see centralized, controlled bankcoins.

So ... limiting discussion to decentralized digital currencies:
The problems he mentions with bitcoin are problems ANY new digital currency would have. The mtgox disaster, people losing coins, etc are all related to a learning experience, and really have little to do with the bitcoin tech.
Learning to do without a bank to hold your hand is probably the big lesson.

Bitcoin seems the most likely alternative now. It's the coin with biggest market cap on coinmarketcap.com

I know of many reason why it wouldnt but as it has the strongest community and dev support surely it has to be the one that stays no1.

^This.

The fact that so many of the big names involved in Bitcoin have spent so much investing in it and the amount of Dev time spent on it, makes me think that a lot of people will be reluctant in using something other than Bitcoin.
