No. John McAfee have his own agenda in calling those coin of the day and ICO of the day and if you notice he himself announced that he will a consultant of a certain ICO after he made an announcement. That ICO may have not offered anything to John McAfee but with his name behind the ICO and John McAfee himself investing in the ICO thats already self serving. He is not doing it for the crypto world but he is doing it for him self.

I may not like the man when I first heard about him talking about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency but certainly he has grown lovable in my eyes as months go by. He has become like the the unofficial spokesperson for the world of cryptocurrency...speaking his own ideas, opinions and predictions of what can be months/years from now with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Of course, some of his projections can be outlandish to say the least but it is always nice to have him in here. The world already know his 1-Million-Bitcoin-in-2020 and otherwise he would do the unthinkable which nobody would be interested to see (haha!).

Lately, he has been the focus in the limelight for the many because his endorsements for some coins that resulted into pumps and profits for the many who actively followed what he is going to say. Do you think that John McAfee can be the right man for cryptocurrency? Should we adopt him as our official defender and spokesperson?

There is no doubt that John McAfee have huge amount of followers which a lot of people have benefited from his wealth of knowledge but appointing him as the overall spokesperson is something that might come back against the community in the long run in my own way of thinking.

1. That single action would defeat the very fabric of the crypto world which decentralization and anonymity because it would then mean that McAfee would need to be contacted when government or anybody wants to make a decision concerning the crypto world. How are we sure that he wont compromise in the long run.

2. Another is the opening of rivalry that this will bring then it means a lot of people who have even contributed immensely to the crypto industry would also want to be recognised. We have Roger Ver popular in his own corner, we have Theymos of the largest bitcoin forum, we have Thomas V the developer of Electrum and a hosts of several that their input cannot be undermined.

3. Even in some quarter, a lot of people following his words on a coin are only doing it for their selfish needs and because he is also a capitalist, then it means he is equally making tons of money out of it which is even doing more damage to the market than good if you look at it in another way.

Oh, McAfee is a crazy man. Probably he made lot of mobey from that altcoin pumping. I was amazed to see how people reacted to his tweets. But later it become difficult to make profit from it, because people made their own bots to react to his tweets. Only these people were able to benefit from. But looks that this show ended - few days ago he endorsed Doge, but there was zero reaction on the markets.
Funniest part of this story was when Mcafee said that his Twitter got hacked. Oh really, if he can't protect his own Twitter account, then, how his anti-virus can be safe Cheesy?

There is really no need for someone to lead
And actually these pumps and dumps just makes it worse. It does not help the price to grow.

It helps people to get in the currency by investing into it. The pumps and dumps are in a sense good - at least its not like shitcoin pumping where its impossible to get profits from. Think of it this way - if bitcoin price stays at 20k USD will anyone be able to invest new money into it?

Anyway back on topic we have shills like people who spam the reddit channels and telegram channels and spam the social media with mindless brain dead shitposting. And finally we have people like MacAfee who are paid to promote and shill his own coins. He may even sell his coins and then show his empty wallet saying that he never owned any bitcoin so technically he was not "Shilling". Grin

A bit unrelated, but John McAfee used to live less than a mile from me on the island that I have moved to here in Belize. I've met with him on multiple occasions, and one of his ex-girlfriends is a close friend of mine. He was a loose cannon here, and is STILL wanted as a person of interest in a murder that happened here, which is why he will never return to Belize. He really is off his rockers, and since I have that personal knowledge of how he acts, I will never trust him. He is only in the crypto business for personal gain; he doesn't believe half the shit he says, I'm sure.

A little known fact about McAfee. He's almost broke. He invested in many businesses here in Belize, including a laboratory to make antibiotics and holistic pharmaceuticals, and from what the rumor mill has said about him while he was here, he was quickly spending his "fortune". He is definitely not worth as much as the general public perceives him to be worth... Even with the crypto spikes, I cannot imagine that he had enough sense to invest a lot in crypto as an early adopter.

If I had to guess, he probably picked up a few bitcoins at around the $2,500 price point... I have never heard him talk about bitcoin while he was living in Belize.

He is definitely not the unofficial spokesperson for crypto, and if anyone believes that he is? Well, I'm sorry, but he will let you down one day.

John McAfee is just an over-glorified shiller for Bitcoin. Take his "advice" and predictions at face value.

People just give a lot of attention to people who have a famous name. He became famous for his antivirus, when it comes to cryptos I guess his opinion has the value of anybody else, but since his name is famous because of the antivirus the people follow him like a guru.

I hope his 1 million btc prediction by 2020 comes true. Some of my friends bought their first bitcoin in early November and most of them sold in early December. I hodl. When they saw that late December drop, they told me I should have sold my bitcoin when they did. So if bitcoin does reach 1 million in 2 years, I can't wait to see their faces. I personally think it will reach $100k in 2020. The same applies, I can't to see their faces when it does.

I don't trust this person, he is doing the same thing as stupid pump and dump groups.
He is using his status to manipulate his followers and makes them buy the coin he already invested in.

Maybe he is a good trader but he can't be the spokesperson for cryptocurrency and no one should be.

Ok i want to start by saying i have nothing against mr McAfee and i actually always used his products.  Now i do not think he or any one person should represent bitcoin and i mean no-one not even Satoshi. Now i will say that some of his predictions into the insights of crypto currencies have been correct but then again even a broken clock is correct twice a day. So let's try to keep bitcoin as a decentralized currency for the people by the people.

popularity of a well known people may drive lots of people and attract them especially in crypto currency. Imagine how much people are digging in when John McAfee announces his coin of the day or the week. so much pumps and dumps are happening.. be careful if you are riding with what McAfee are saying for those altcoins like DGB TRX and more.. just saying
I know it is his own opinion hehe but who knows maybe he is also paid to do that in order to boost the price of altcoins heheheh.

No. McAfee seems to me like he only had his own interests at heart and will just promote whatever scam he can that will make him some money. I think his proposal of 1 million per btc is ridiculous and what is he basing this on exactly? And why exactly 1 million btc in usd? One million is such an arbitrary number that people seem to obsess about like it's the magic number that suddenly makes all your problems and worries go away. Don't get me wrong, I hope he's right and I'm wrong but I don't think he's a good spokesperson for bitcoin or cryptocurrencies at all. To most he just seems like a crazy renegade who will be laughed at every time he somehow manages to get himself on TV. I saw Stephen Baldwin on TV the other day and he just embarrassed himself. Seems like a crazy nutjob hack who's just trying to get some money out of nothing seeing as his career has dried up and he's probably broke. Same thing is very likely on McAfee (though probably has more money than Baldwin but he still seems much more dodgy).

I think John McAfee is our ideal spokesperson for the cryptocurrency world. The only known celebrity who has come up openly to preach the gospel of cryptocurrency without fear of prosecution from government agency. I vote for him sir.

I've gonna be honest, when he proposed to cut his manhood off for his predictions considering the bitcoin price, I thought he was a mad man.. but then my friend told me about his twitter posts and alt-coin predictions, since then.. well I can say that I've changed my mind completely. I do think he's the right man and the one to lead the crypto into the mainstream.

I am not really a big fan of this guy because for all we know he still a businessperson and behind all of his remarks can be that desire to produce more profits for his empire. And this is actually happening now as many are following on what he would say next...he can easily pump a coin by just mentioning it on his tweets and this is where the action can be. Anyway, we have to give some credit for the man for his unofficial role for cryptocurrency and I admire him on this aspect.

Yes he can, his doing a good research about each other coins. He has his own view about it. Probably he can be a sporkesperson for crypto

Cryptocurrencies have no spokesperson. Period. Only the devs can be official people who can comment on a certain crypto and not any other person.

I have seen the current twitter posts and I can say two things at most:
1. Either MacAfee is paid to make these statements. He does not even know or give a shit about crypto. He only wants the money
2. He is interested in the crypto economy and wants to make a point - like Dimon did

These people are making crypto look like a sell-out. Anyway I wont give into all this FUD and do my own research before investing.
