Yeah man, the 'thrill' of not catching a block for . . THREE MONTHS or so would really take the fun out of it for me.

If I had it my way, everyone will be forced to mine solo. But since you have a choice, I would say that you should choose to mine solo.  Grin
Tempting but even my small farm is not big enough!

Let me reiterate: you should make the same amount either way.

only assuming zero pool fees, zero transaction fees on pool payouts, etc.

Well guess time to see which pool is the best. Also does anyone notice huge fluctuation for their cards? Sometimes my card will go from 420 mhashes to 340 mhashes on the pool's website.

The web counter's are simple estimates based on shares submitted, the pool cannot actually read the output your miner gives.

With my pool our fees go towards buying rainforest land and planting trees so you can offset your increased carbon footprint.  So pool and save the environment a little Smiley

need more info like how many mhashes you actually have.

I'm going to say don't mine yourself because you probably don't have much.  The difficulty is high and it will only jump higher soon.

Since I'm still playing with speeds and stability I'm not too sure of how many mhashes. I have two 6970 and two 6950 crunching right now.

Pool.

You should make just as much solo mining as you would pool mining. The point of pooling is to reduce the time it takes for you to get your coins. If you pool mine, you will get tiny payouts but they will occur more frequently than if you were solo mining where you only get 50 coins at a much slower rate (google bitcoin calculator to determine how much you would make). Let me reiterate: you should make the same amount either way.

I been mining with a pool ever since I started but I'm starting to wonder if it is more worthwhile to mine by myself. Watcha all think about it?
