I used to dream to see Joshua vs Wilder match, but now I'll have to wait for Joshua to recover, make few fight with other contestants, maybe even do a rematch with Ruiz.

I guess my dream is not going to come true.

Was quit shocked at the beginning of the fight but in round three i felt something was not right in favor of Joshua, then i remembered what he said about the fight against Ruiz. Although he has spoken and congratulated Ruiz and also clarify that, fighting with the big guys on the sport is more dangerous and i understand him right. Wish him good return back.

Wow this is one of the biggest upset in the history of the heavyweight Joshua got knocked out in the seven-round by Ruiz
I'm sure a lot of people lose a bet here, who would have thought Ruis will win over Joshua of all things by knock out.

Quote
Ruiz had taken the fight on less than six weeks’ notice following Jarrell Miller’s failed drugs test in what was his second crack at world title gold, having fallen short against Joseph Parker in his only professional defeat.

Hahaha, it was really an amazing bet, my Nigerian friend lost out to me after betting that Anthony Joshua will win the game simply because they are from the same country. I too did not have the full confidence when I placed the bet, I had to just risk it and believing strongly that Joshua will lose.

It was really a game of luck, now we have another bet again, because there will be another rematch around September I think, which I still believe that he will be knocked out strongly, I think his reign is beginning to be over, he has already made enough money, so he should just go enjoy it with his family.

I don't know if boxing fans will believed that this is a game of luck mate. I mean those fighters really train very very hard for any fights so it is in their control and luck has nothing to do with it.

Obviously, Joshua prepared by Andy Ruiz is the better fighter that night. He can take the best punches that AJ game him and he dishes out that AJ can't quickly recover.

Yes, there will be a rematch, but I do think that it will be a different outcome.
Luck definitely don't work in boxing for the experience and fitness of fighters determine who will be the winner. However, AJ ought to win the fight and I think we will agree with me due to how he started the fight but him and his team were too anxious and ignore to study the opponent.
Ruiz, said he will five him a rematch and then we will see the best side of AJ.

The team behind Ruiz added good reviews on how Joshua fight inside the ring, reviewing the strength and weaknesses of the opponents and
give the hint to Ruiz for him to beat the Champ, there's no luck but good conditioning practice and do well when already inside the ring.

To my mind, the only one who can upset Wilder is Fury Cheesy Would be a better rematch than fighting Ortiz.

Frankly, don't know who would Wilder fight so that the fight would be even. Ruiz ?

Yes, but I don't know if you have seen the Wilder vs Ortiz fight, it was a great match and it was the first time I have seen Wilder being on the defense. That's why he gave this fight a go perhaps he wanted to proved that to everyone how 'good' he was, I reckon. It could only be Tyson Fury who can give him a even fight. As of now, Anthony Joshua is out of the equation and Andy Ruiz really derail the plan of both camps/managers to have a mega fight next year. But it's good that the Heavyweight division deserves this attention for boxing fans again and relived it's glory days.

I guess my dream is not going to come true.
  • The main problem with boxing promoters is that they test the patience of the fans and if you really wanted to watch the best fighters fighting the best you only see that in MMA, they will keep on delaying so that the fans miss out the competition aspect of boxing, i always loved to watch Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao and i still used to wonder how would that fight played out if both were in their prime rather than fighting at the end of their careers.
  • Tyson Fury and Wilder fight happened and it was a change from that situation because both fighters agreed to fight and Tyson was coming out of retirement to prove himself against Wilder and it was one of the best fights in a very long time.
  • It was a known fact that Wilder was trying to fight Joshua for a long time but his promoters were ducking that fight as they wanted to make more money before AJ took on Wilder and Tyson. Grin

~snip~

There is no reason I would bet for Joshua  in this rematch, he is still going to be the favorites of this fight, therefore we will not be getting a good odds. I'm thinking of another shot by Ruiz and once again winning the match, another sweet victory with good betting odds if you are with Ruiz, but less likely he will win, I'm just attracted with the possible betting odds.

Me too becasue Joshua has been my favorite whenever he pick on any. But the surprise that spur from this recent fight keeps me wondering if he should be relay upon becasue i really lost alot of money after the fight. Hope in the return match, he's able to prove himself as the world champion

If Ruiz won on the rematch, they we should give credit to him, but if Joshua steam roll on Ruiz then we can say that the win is a fluke. I guess this rematch will have a lot of pressure on Ruiz now, since he is already the champion.
Even if Joshua steam roll on Ruiz in their rematch, you can hardly say that the win is a fluke. Did you notice how Ruiz quickly recovered after he was knocked down then knocked out Joshua minute later? Ruiz was deceptively fast during that fight and Joshua made the mistake of fighting him up close.

Big guys normally recover as quick as possible than the skinny ones, I heard this comment from the MMA commentators. One quick knockout isn't enough for their legs to wiggle so there has to be a follow up straight for it to struggle lifting their body weight to control. As for Ruiz, he just can manage his size to quickly recover and go on with the fight. Joshua must not fight anyone else if he wants a rematch.
Right, every fighter reacts different, some recover very fast, while other's totally quit. And that's what we've seen when AJ tastes the canvas against Ruiz. You can see in his eyes that no don't want any part of it. And even if he says the wanted to continue, but his body can't take the punch of Ruiz. So let's bring the rematch and see how great (or not) he is.

As expected, there would really be a rematch but i don't really call for that Ruiz win to be a fluke. It is really just a normal outcome of a boxing fight where the best boxer would always win.Its really hard to accept such defeat if its really your first time but that's how thing goes yet there would really comes a time that theres someone which is better than you.

Boxing fans like you and me would like to see Joshua vs Wilder because the hype was there years ago. But since it has been derailed by Ruiz, then we need to wait a little longer. I don't know if you are aware of, but Wilder will fight Luis Ortiz. Ortiz gave everything against Wilder and I thought that he can upset Wilder in that fight because he put Wilder on a defensive mood.

I guess my dream is not going to come true.

A lot of things might have change the narrative, but I do believed that eventually we will see the three best heavyweights to face it's other because of the big money involved.

I saw this game and it's very surprising Ruiz has a lot of flaps I thought he is a patsy going to the ring, he hit very strong and Joshua couldn't take it, this Ruiz is big puncher he can rule the heavyweight division for a long time, his defense is also good.

In any sports, upset happens, and normally odds for the heavy favorites are overvalued, so the value is on the dog.

This is crazy, i know, it was an awesome fight and no one would even think Ruiz had a chance, but we know how this kind of sports are, we only need one good punch to send the bad guy to sleep. Just the same as UFC. That's why i love this kind of fights.
A surprise attack is enough to weaken or down the enemy and i call it as pure luck since the odds are onto Ruiz on that day.
Even Pacman one time got knocked down by Marquez in an unexpected event.
Better be prepared for the worst case scenario always and never let your guard down.
Sad to say, it's all just happen and it is done already.

It sometimes will turn out that Ruiz is strong enough to take the belt of winning over from Joshua.  Isn't new to us that scenario just like it happen to many known boxers that we think that they better from their opponents but unexpected losses will surely shock or even doubtful of the result.  And this big debut for Ruiz will something give a lesson to Joshua and also to the other boxers.

It's his first fight the USA and definitely it's not the best debut, Deontay Wilder instantly tweeted that he was no champion at all and that his whole career was built on lies. Truly an upset seeing a dominant heavyweight falling for Andy Ruiz who was defeated by Joseph Parker a man who got easily beaten by AJ. I don't really know what happened in the ring but seeing the way AJ move in the ring and how his facial expressions are he definitely didn't look confident in the whole match facing against Ruiz, maybe the panic breakdown really happened after all.

The press is already calling this one one of the biggest upsets in this sport
You can say that again!

What really surprised me about this fight is when the fight was over I hardly saw any match highlights or breaking news headlines about this fight despite hearing about the out come somewhere else.

Watched his post match video from his YouTube channel expecting him to go with the rumors of a panic attack but he took this like a man refused to go with this  and accepted the defeat and was only looking forward to a rematch as the fight clause outlined.

That is a game and someone will win. Both boxer are good in the ring, they put everything during that time but sadly Joshua giving it up and end the game.
We accept that boxing is not about luck but it is purely skills and knowledge, may we can say that Ruiz is better than of Joshua at this time and we don't know who's gonna win if they agreed into another battle.

I read that many thought this was an accident while others see AJ didnt mind the fluke in losing to secure a rematch fight in UK.
It would only make sense to have a rematch at Wembley where they can sell 100,000+ tickets
For anyone interested this is the latest odds for the rematch in UK-

I really feel bad because I told some of my friends that are into betting that Joshua has the winning advantage and  to my surprise ruiz knocked him out. Outside my friends that loose out in the betting I know some of us that has been following this event also lose out. That is why in sport or game everything should be seeing still possible.

Never see it coming, I thought that Joshua can go past Ruiz. But I guess his US debut was a disaster, 25-1 underdog, I do hope that some boxing betters here had at least put some money on Ruiz. I guess the hype around Joshua is now dead. And Wilder and Fury will be laughing on his ass for now.

I remember the first fight of Manny Pacquiao in U.S back year 2001 , He is also a replacement for that fight against Lehlo Ledwaba and He got Ledwaba in 6 rounds and now He is already a price fighter .
What I mean is never under estimate the substitute boxer since they are also in good condition and ready to fight any opponent and now this is the time for Ruiz to shine .

A boxer doesn't always win, if the most famous one Muhammad Ali has losses, the most tough  of the Mexican today  such as Canelo could lose in an unexpected way. Joshua loss, its going to be a lesson learn to make him realize he need to do more of his practice. He is a humble guy so he'd still got the support of the people who has  his back at every fight.

There is no doubt that it was a major upset as he was picking and choosing his opponent and this was a short time replacement and no one predicted this to end up like this as Joshua called off the fight going to the corner which is an embarrassment and now the big title fight against Deontay Wilder is not that exciting now as everyone knows that Deontay Wilder will smoke Antony Joshua and so is the reason he was ducking him all this while.

I am sure the Jushua team worked their ass of trying to watch every single game Ruiz played and try to see what his strengths and weakness' are so I am not going to blame them. However it was so obvious that Joshua had absolutely no defense to Ruiz counters that it makes me wonder if they had any plans for it.

I mean if Ruiz counters so well (and that is amazing considering how fat he looks and how slow he looks normally) there is no way you are not going to just not punch him, of course you are going to punch him but there needs to be a bit more defense on Joshuas game, if he played the whole Mayweather game and worked for points instead of hitting hard then he would have been able to just not hit constantly and get hit back but just hit fewer but better. I don't know what could have been the answer but it was obvious that Joshua had absolutely no answer to Ruiz's counters at all for the whole game.

I think you right with what you said because I was actually surprised when Ruiz beat Joshua because Ruiz seems not to be fit enough and like you said Joshua team dont have the time to study the tactics which Ruiz usually used to win fight because Ruiz actually not the person Joshua ought to fight. However, I also believe Joshua and his team were actually after the money involve due to the number of fight Joshua had recently.

Well, this is why you cannot have a 100% winning chances even your player has a strong ability to win. There are many things that can happen and usually, those who challenge has the more courage to fight and win. Sportsbetting is fun because of this.
Always unsure as shit things ruined those bets for Joshua as he is the favorite here, but like what OP's have said humiliating KO happened, there's always chance for a fighter who challenge the Champ, it's time for Joshua to find it's way back as he will sure to call a rematch.

Preparations and more on anticipations,he needed to adjust on how Ruiz take the advantages over him.
Joshua is humble enough to accept the defeat and Ruiz is the better fighter that night. Time to move on and look at what goes wrong in the preparation, after all that is life in boxing, if you don't prepare well then you will pay the price.

Didn't Joshua just take a picture with Drake a few days ago? That is why he lost Grin

It was indeed a Drake curse,  Grin

I haven't seen the fight yet, but here's my thoughts on the fight.

[1] Andy Ruiz Jr, was just a substitute fighter, so it might throw off Joshua a bit because he wasn't prepared for Andy.
[2] Joshua may have under estimated the "Mexican Butter Bean".
[3] Joshua wanted to impressed his American fans, over compensated and when he feel the power of Andy, the complexion of the game changes.

As far as I know there is a rematch close, so let's see if Joshua will opt for a immediate rematch or will have a tune up fight before facing Andy again.

Drake is a smart person I bet he had a wager on Ruiz  Grin

Wow this is one of the biggest upset in the history of the heavyweight Joshua got knocked out in the seven-round by Ruiz
I'm sure a lot of people lose a bet here, who would have thought Ruis will win over Joshua of all things by knock out.

That was a big surprise, I was betting on KO in the first 6 rounds, so I also lost my small bet. But this also shows that you should never bet on a favorite when the odds are so low as it was on Joshua!

This is really humiliating since Joshua is the favorite of all and no one expect that Ruiz will have that luck to bring losses to the great boxer and not just lose but knocked out lol

No wonder what Joshua feels this moment as the title goes out of his name and the belt he cannot hold on

This was surely a big upset since everyone was expecting Joshua to make a good impression on his first appearance for the American public. This was the kind of fight that was very important for both players and that's exactly why we should have expected a surprise. It was probably the biggest fist of Ruiz career and he knew how to handle it.
Boxing is always have a full of surprises since every fighter has their own fists to knock down each opponent, but Ruiz just become lucky this time and one thing he must be thankful
You cant really say Ruiz won because it was lucky, since he knocked down Joshua 3 times before he knocked him out. Ruiz was just the better player in this match and you cloud see that he wanted this victory more. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Ruiz and he took it. Besides the fact that he won all Joshua's all three belts he also won £3m for this fight, in comparison with 2018 when the most he made on a match was $30k.

Saw that one and I'm really surprised, everyone are betting Joshua will beat Ruiz via knock out because he wants to look  impressive in the eyes of the Americans, one of the shocking things here Ruiz is just a replacement for Miller, this is indeed a big upset, Joshua is on the trail to become one of the heavy weight's greatest champion and Ruiz has stopped  that trail.
Yes, Ruiz stopped Anthony from been one of the heavy weight greatest champion but boxing is not like every other fight and Ruiz experience is far higher than Anthony experience. However, I can tell you that Anthony was the reason why he lost the yesterday fight because he had much of fight this year and he ought to focus more on training rather than having another fight this year.
I believe he have learn from his mistake.

I wasn't able to watch their square-off but through reading the responses here and just through the title, it was surely a frustrating game for Joshua. And I guess every other fighter would be so humiliated if they experienced that. I mean, imagine this. There are so many people who expected Joshua to win. But what an element of surprise it is that his opponent won and by knock out. That's why I usually bet on someone who was, somehow, underestimated. Hence, expecting the unexpected.

Jokes aside, I think people didn't take Andy Ruiz seriously and it backfired. I watched an introduction to this boxer a few days ago. The commentator explained that he spent his youth on the streets. From the age 10 he was fighting anyone who made fun of him for being fat. He was fighting cops and grown men for insulting him.

Andy Ruiz has been a fighter for most of his life and you shouldn't underestimate a person like that.

My real priceless moment was the after match interview on Anthony Joshua the former champions was so sport man like by his remarks and hailed and sents his congrats to the new champion in Ruiz Jr and that he was a better fighter and wished him luck.  This was a really upset but lest not forget Ruiz has some crazy attack and defense abilities. Joshua and his team spent a huge time training about fighting bug baby so this was quite impromptu(and probably they under rated the new challenger for his physical looks) but unlike Ruiz who has been longing for a championship fight all his life and this was his biggest dreams and he made real good of it.

For him to get the rematch, he should not talk shit and that's a good move congratulating Ruiz. He maybe over confident that he will beat Ruiz because he is just a proxy, looking ahead for that showdown with Wilder. Damn, 1.03 odds for Joshua is insane but glad though that i didn't push that bet button Smiley.

Ruiz had taken the fight on less than six weeks’ notice following Jarrell Miller’s failed drugs test in what was his second crack at world title gold, having fallen short against Joseph Parker in his only professional defeat.

well, shit happens. 22 wins before do not guarantee next win, if a new opponent is better.  I'm sure he lost more than people who placed a bet on him.  These 4 belts he lost at once cost millions in the next fights...

We can call this a big upset probably eclipsing that of Buster Douglas, it's great to see both fighters manner, Joshua congratulating Ruiz and Ruiz returning the favor, I'd love to see the sportsmanship on both camps after this incredible fights.

The press is already calling this one one of the biggest upsets in this sport in some time now
https://twitter.com/DAZN_USA/status/1135021917134557185
I wonder if the rematch will be any different in UK

There will be a home court advantages, people cheering in his behalf, and I'm sure he is going to prepare on this much I mean he will double the preparation and Ruiz will come to fight because he can take his punch and he can knock  out Aj, comes the second fight my bet will be on Ruiz, he'll prove that he is the real winner, and that could be over for Joshua.

This is indeed one of the biggest upset in the boxing history and, no one even in their wildest dreams saw it coming. Ruiz was a unknown name for the World before yesterday’s fight, and suddenly he’s recorded his name in everyone’s mind by participating in a single match. There’s talk about a rematch, but I feel Joshua will not be able to beat Ruiz, I’m sure Ruiz will knock him out again.

Never see it coming, I thought that Joshua can go past Ruiz. But I guess his US debut was a disaster, 25-1 underdog, I do hope that some boxing betters here had at least put some money on Ruiz. I guess the hype around Joshua is now dead. And Wilder and Fury will be laughing on his ass for now.

and i though he be the one that will dominate and knock Ruiz. Big win for those who bet for Ruiz. can't say Ruiz got the luck, he is a hitter too. yep a big upset when majority expects Joshua to win. looks like he isn't trained to avoid getting hit. when one fighter has emptied his gas tank, he definitely is out of luck.
