From what I can tell the past little while the requirement has been in place it's been excellent for the forum. Of course there is an influx of merit related questions and begging again just like in January, but im sure it'll die down. It gets old reading about merit all the time though. It had to be done and it's certainly helping the forum so I agree with it.

Hello, thank you for your service, I think I deserve at least this one merit, I have created my account last december, I have posted many contributions in Arabic especially, my native language, but didn't get any merit, at least one, and to be honest as well, I am a translator, I have participated in many bounties as a translator, and this will affect my life, because I do this for a living.

But anyway, if it's not possible to give me 1 merit, I will continue to struggle to get it.

Thank you so much

Is this a joke ?
Why on earth would someone give merits to this scammer ?
He says he needs them to work, to do translations ? Well, check his trust ratings and what people think about his translations.   Roll Eyes
And even though he got tagged, he keeps applying to do translations in French.
This guy shouldn't get merits, he should be banned !

Bitcointalk has raised the conditions to become a JR member is 1 merit . What do you think about this. I think it is a good way. Good way to avoid the spam account Jr member. A new community safer and cleaner. I'm advocating that

Exactly the mod did a great job today by placing the restriction and if you have noticed, the post on the altcoin section reduced a little bit today, before you will see all kinds of post on the section, I will say kudos to the admins for this great move.

I agree with the bitcointalk admin decision that requires that you become a JR rank must have a minimum merit of 1 merit. Hopefully with this regulation, it can minimize spam account accounts

This is ridiculous to say the least. How does this post deserve a precious sMerit for heavens sake?? I mean even with the account accounts tautology? This is an abuse of privilege I must say. Hoping merits don't get traded on this forum soon

This a total merit abuse here I guess the person has all his post history with Bounty submissions which I guess are in no way worth of merits. I guess this a alt account of some one spamming merits here!

The merit abuser already tagged for using multiple accounts, and this one should also be tagged.

Agree with you I am new here and trying to get at least one merit but didn't understand how will I get the same.
You will not get one if you continue this behavior. Please stop making your self a plagiarist..

Bitcoin could replace cash in 10 years. Bitcoin is back after many investors liquidated their cryptocurrency investments for tax season. Regulation shouldn't hold cryptocurrencies back as long as they're reasonable and fair. Cash use is declining and Tim Draper believes cryptocurrency is the future.

Actually I see your post history and I'm quite surprised that you're good also in english.
But the most important thing is, try to make you're self a better person, be fair.
Don't let the merit drag you down, you still have a chance.
But because of this, I don't think so?

I think we have to activity stronger, better in the forum. The contributions of us will be rewarded by merit .I think so
I think it's supposed to incentive rewarding others with merit and punish those that hoard their sMerit.
The merit system works only if people actively use it, else everyone is stuck at their current rank.

I am also a supporter of the introduction of merit, but you can write 100500+ posts and not get one  Undecided
If you can’t get a single merit in 100500+ posts (or heck, even 200 posts) you clearly are just a spammer who should be nuked and permabanned from this forum. Getting merit is a lot more easier than most people thing about. But complaining is wayyy more easier than making a change.

Stop seeing this forum as a work and things may change for you.
I think that's absolutely right. With too many post so be sure that you are the one who spamming and not contributing anything to the forum. That's is worse. Such people I not support, but should also project the behavior that

Great   idea being implemented by the forum but i still believe this will not favour  people like me that is always diffident to ask or beg people for merit rather than to continue making quality post every day till i will legitimately  received merit from someone.  its welcome development and will try my best possible to get 1 merit for constructive post.

I participate in some airdrops but i've never been an avid bounty hunter. I personally don't care for all the politics on the forum as it doesn't directly affect me nor do i rely on a signature campaigns to make a living. Yes there will be a lot of Jr. Members that will be upset about the new merit requirement but i believe this will help reduce spam on the forum. It's definitely a step in the right direction but regardless i can say i've enjoyed my time on here and i view this forum as a great source for learning.

This is insane! This forum will be manage and ran with a few people but with many members registers. One person but multiple accounts. Those olds members will just create multiple account and each account will just be merited 1 each. How could this be a fair to everybody when no ones else will give merit to other users except to their own account.

If I may suggest, increasing the current  activity to become jr members is much acceptable..
You are a little mistaken about your emotions, not in this Forum that is selfish all thanks to real work,

Example: I try my best and also, maybe for the best to get merit, and the next rank, I myself experienced things about merit, I can say I am a foreigner and get a merit from @OgNasty, do not know me and vice versa, I thought you were wrong with your answer, for his own account,
As long as all the rules are lived and read you will get the merit you mean.

I also agree, doing so will improve forum quality as well as posts by members. But it is very difficult to get merit, because very few people want to give away. Maybe I have to try to improve the quality of my posts to be able to obtain merit

Not very few people want to give merit but more obviously there's just few that is worthy for merit. Mostly of your posts are one liner and generic, so yeah try to approach more differently but of course in a good way. If you really want to stay here then rules won't be a hindrance and it will actually benefited us in a long run.

I think it's awesome on Theymos's part that he did this.  He also added new merit sources and pretty much requested that even if a post by a newbie is "good" that it should get a merit.  This is probably not as dire a situation as you'd think, though I'm surprised Jr. Members got busted down to Newbies.  That puts a little smile on my face, I have to tell you.

with the existence of new rules or conditions to become a Jr Member, I as a new member strongly agree with the existence of these conditions and demand me personally to be more creative, more intelligent to make posts and can help the members in this forum.
the main purpose of this forum in my opinion is to provide information that is very useful for all members, not just an unnecessary post. posts that are too spam that just want to increase rank.

Wearing a signature shouldn't be priority. Learn, contributing meaningfully to the forum, then you can earn. I'm personally inspired by a lot users here whose names I won't want to mention now. There's always knowledge and an in depth one for that matter behind one and every of their posts. This is what makes you stand out among the crowd and the sea of shit posters.

Like I've once posited here, you don't have to contribute to any post you come across. Reading the replies of others will help you to learn. You can also do little research about a subject to help you contribute meaningfully.

A lot of users have been blacklisted by merit sources without their knowledge simply because of spamming. This implies that they will never see their posts even when it has some quality.

Not good way only, this is best way to prevent spam. Ton of spam will reduce from forum and I strongly believe it. Due to newbie can't ware signature, means they will not make unnecessary spam post. Or even they spam forum they  will ban permanently as I know. I was encourage from beginnings to implement this kind of rules.

Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.

Note that this does not affect:
 - PM rate-limiting, which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.
 - "You must wait ___ seconds...", which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.

But it does affect:
 - Voting in polls
 - Patroller jurisdiction
 - The "ignore newbie PMs" option.
 - "The body is omitted from this email because the sender is a newbie."
 - BBCode limits
 - Reduced-accuracy link filtering
 - Board restrictions

Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership. In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership.

One reason that I was hesitant to do this before is that there are an awful lot of newbie restrictions, and I don't want the forum to be unwelcoming to good newbies. I'll think about tying some of those to activity instead of rank in the future.

With help from DdmrDdmr, I just added 36 new merit sources, which should help newbies achieve the requirement. But if you're incapable of posting anything worthwhile, then you will never rank up, and you shouldn't: this isn't the forum for you.
one of the problems at the Bitcointalk Forum is that Member growth continues to grow at any time. There are many factors that influence Member growth, including death, birth and migration. To calculate the number of Members of a Sup-Forum, certain formulas are used, one of which involves the operation of numbers such as the merit system, 1 - 1000, which we know today. Do you know what numbers are? What are the characteristics of numbered numbers? I will specify a little discussion below, so we keep thinking positively and discard negative thoughts:
Numbers that have ranks of 1 to 1000, in mathematics consist of:
numbers with positive round ranks (natural numbers), negative round ranks, zero rank, newbie, rational rank and real rank. Rank notation is used to write down the results of a repeated number in a simpler form. As for example, we have three factors a which are the same, so that we can use the a3 symbol to denote (a x a x a), with 3 called the rank of a and declare the number of factors a repeated, can be written a3 = a x a x a.

The most frequently discussed rank numbers include positive numbers, negative numbers and zero numbers.

Note: So to be easier and get the number 1 in the Forum, prioritize positive posts and useful, this also applies to myself, For the future with the above regulation we will be more positive in doing work from all sectors, especially at the Bitcointalk Forum. Hopefully this event will be a reflection for all of us ...

Well basically we're not new here, you know like I even have 182 activities, and also the merit system suddenly was applied, and now the new rule about Jr rank, it makes me back to the very begining day. The rule itself is good to prevent spaming, there's no perfect system including bitcointalk. So we should keep trying to make bitcointalk more awesome.
