I didn't find it weird because the reply that the op made is on january 25, 2018 which is the rank requirements of jr. member at that time is 30 Activity

Correct, and the account has actually been inactive since August of last year, which was before the jr member demotion to newbie.
Op if your intention on the forum is clear and well defined and aligns with the goals of the forum, then you would have no problem returning back to your previous rank or gunning for a higher status.
You can as well purchase a copper membership to be allowed to wear a signature as a newbie

Hello everyone, I have a problem regarding my status as a Jr. Member. I am a returning member after 5-6 months and I don't know why I was Newbie when I was already a Jr. Member. Is there a new update to the forum that there is a certain number of merits or posts to become a Jr. Member? or is this just a penalty for not being active weekly or daily? Please correct me or enlighten me for anything that I miss.
Did you finish napping for a long time and deciced to comeback?. Just go to this thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-new-rank-requirements-2818350 and there is also changes to newbies provided by DdmrDdmr.

Hmmm. Very weird because you have replied on this question before.
I didn't find it weird because the reply that the op made is on january 25, 2018 which is the rank requirements of jr. member at that time is 30 Activity Points and 0 merit so the op is demotes to jr. member due to the merit and new rank requirements implemented at that time. I started in bitcointalk on febuary 2018 which there is no merit required to become jr. member until the new rank requirements implementes.

Hi there,

My rank is member, and I see that I have 10 points under "merit". What does this mean and can I use these points in a productive way in this forum.

Thank you!

Here is the link for you to understand this new ranking system.

Unless you have totally forgotten about the new ranking system. Grin. Anyways, you're seems to be a typical poster and didn't do any bounty whoring so I think you already know the drill how to get back to Jnr Member rank.

or is this just a penalty for not being active......
You've not been penalized for anything, the forum allows it's users to stay inactive for as long as they wish and return whenever they wish, it's not our problem, only breaking rules is.
On being demoted, it wasn't just you but thousands, if not millions of newbies were also demoted go reduce the high level of crap post that was the order of the day in the forum then.
Now you need just a mere 1 merit to return you back to your former rank, and you really should not be satisfied with that, but start off and rank higher

Jr. Members that were meritless on the 17/09/2018 were downgraded back to Newbie rank, in an attempt to lessen the amount of spam on the forum. Read the following thread to get the complete details: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements.

Although 1 merit is all that you require to get your Jr. Member rank back,  it shouldn’t really be much of an issue to earn at least a couple of merits, less of all now that there are less active forum members around.
