Now that was one of the best Superbowl's I have ever watched. The games was entertaining from start to finish and at one stage towards the end I thought that Brady was going to do it again, come back and win but it wasn't to be thank god. I'm so happy that the Eagles won their first ever Superbowl as its been a long time coming, I'm also very happy as I won my bet on the Eagles winning but did lose my just for fun bets but I didn't lay much out on them anyway so I was able to make a nice profit on the night.

Have you got any tips for the big game tonight? I decided to take the Eagles straight out as I am an Eagles fan and I think they have a big chance at winning. I was going to take them at the line +5 but thought what the heck might as well go for the H2H. I'm also looking at taking some Superbowl specials just for fun and make the game more interesting to watch.

Not likely going to happen. O'Korn has just a 54.9 completion rate, 563 passing yards, 1 TD, 4 INTs. In his last two games, he has zero TD passes and three interceptions. Penn St should win by double digits here at home.

Something seems wrong with the Steelers this season. Ben Roethlisberger, who said this past off-season that he was retiring after this season, played poorly last week throwing 5 INTs. LeVeon Bell still seems rusty after holding out in the off-season. KC, meanwhile is hitting on all cylinders and are the top of the class in the AFC. The only issue KC may have this week are injuries on their offensive line. Their starting center and one of the guards will be out.I still thing the Chiefs should easily cover. Plus, the Steelers aren't a very good road team. I'm putting 2 bet units on this one.

And with the College Football Playoff Championship, style points do matter and this will be an opportunity for Bama to display their dominance over all and solidify their top ranking.

Everyone knows New England rarely loses back to back games, but this year they have a serious problem with their defense - as in, they don't have one. If it weren't for a miracle TD against Houston with 30 seconds left on the clock two weeks ago, the Pats could easily be 1-3. Tom Brady and the offense is clicking away as normal, ranked #1 overall in the league. But like I said, the problem is with their defense. They are ranked last in the league in Total Defense, last in total yards allowed per game and second to last (above just Indianapolis) in points allowed per game. Their defense is basically nonexistent.

NE will be the traveling away team playing on a short week, so they will have less time to recover and prepare. I don't see how their defense will be able to cover both Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson. Against the spread, I like Tampa Bay at home getting 5.5 points. I think it will be a high scoring close game. I've yet to mention, Tampa's defense isn't that great either, hence why I think it will be a high scoring close game and hence, I'm also taking the OVER. I think the total points will be in the neighborhood of around ~60-65 points or so. There's a 40% chance of rain early in the night with winds 13-25 mph. That might have an affect, but I'm still thinking high score.

Thanks, man. I was pretty confident in picking the Rams. If it wasn't so early in the season, I might have put 2 or 3 bet units more on it. The thing with that particular pick is that having been born and raised in Dallas, I am a huge Cowboys fan. And I rarely bet on Cowboys games whether for or against my team. One of the things I've learned when it comes to gambling is to not let your emotions guide or sway you in any way. That's why I try like all hell not to put any money on a Cowboys game either for or against. But when I saw the opening line with Dallas as a 6 point favorite, I knew that it was inflated. Even with key injuries on the Cowboy's side, the line didn't move, so that just confirmed it. As a fan, I hoped my Cowboys would win even if it meant me losing money. But as a gambler putting money on the game and looking at both the overall and individual match ups, I just couldn't see Dallas winning this game, much less covering 6 points.

And good call on the KC game for both of us. You were right, it was a dogfight and just like you predicted, KC would shut them down in the fourth quarter where they held Washington to just a field goal. (Hey, you should make a tipster thread if you haven't already ) I always like the Chiefs at home in prime time.

Anyway, happy to see us both win and interesting that we saw these games the same way.

The Redskins have looked impressive in their last two games, but KC is tough at home and should be geeked AF playing prime time on Monday Night Football. 7 points is a lot to give with two good teams playing against each other, but I believe Kansas City's defense will give Kirk Cousins enough problems to keep him from being effective.

Dallas is the favorite (-6). However they are dealing with some significant injuries. Their defensive secondary is banged up and leading tackler, LB Sean Lee (hamstring), will be a game time decision as to whether he will play or not. On offense, it looks like they will be starting a back up at left guard on an O-line that hasn't seemed to have quite fully gelled yet. Meanwhile, QB Jared Goff and RB Todd Gurley of the Rams are healthy and are producing well with the play calling of coach Sean McVay. I think the line should be closer to a Pick where neither team is favored. BTW, the Rams wins have come against two teams who are a combined 0-6 so far this season. This game should tell us if the Rams are really legit or counterfeit.

Jarvis Landry, Jay Ajayi and DeVante Parker of Miami all look to be good to go for tomorrow's game against New York despite their injury statuses. That's bad news for the J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS! as they don't have much talent to begin with. What little talent they do have hasn't been producing. They may be able to slow Miami for maybe a quarter and a half, but playing with heart only gets you so far when you lack talent. I just don't see how they are going to cover Miami's receivers and stop Ajayi at the same time. This should be a cake walk for the Dolphins.

Seattle has major offense problems, mainly with their O-line and QB Wilson not looking so good. They barely squeaked by the 49ers last week at home. They are struggling offensively, only scoring one TD this year so far and they even missed the extra point on that one too, I think. Now they travel across the country to play a hungry Tennessee team and the Titans can score points with the weapons they have.

Taking the over in this match. Both teams have potent, high powered offenses and the game will be played in the comfortable confines of a dome stadium. So I expect well over 50 points being scored.

Crazy, high scoring game. Lots of big plays from both teams. The 49ers offense decided to wake up and made a comeback rally, but the Rams held them off. LA could have kicked a field goal at the end of the game, but elected to be safe and just take a knee and the win. The result, Rams win by just 2 points, meaning we get a push. Like I always say, a push is better than a shove. Also, my parlay wager is still alive.

1. See previous post above for my thoughts on Rams -2 @ 49ers.
2. Game to be played in London, England. Baltimore is the far better team of the two and have outscored their first two oppnents by a combined score of 44-10.
3. The Giants and Eagles both have good defenses. The Giants offense is terrible, while the Eagles offense is fairly capable of scoring when it isn't making mistakes.
4. The Bengals have big problems scoring on offense. QB Andy Dalton has thrown 0 TDs and four INTs. They also just sacked their offensive coordinator. The Packers at home should win by double digits.

So looking over the NCAAF schedule this week, there are some very good and interesting games and match ups. However, just like last week, nothing really jumps out at me as far as betting. I'll take a closer look later in the week if I feel like I don't have that much action on the NFL games. There look to be some juicy match ups in the NFL. Though it's almost as if Vegas is trying to trap with some of the lines. We'll see... Right now a pick for Thursday Night NFL.

I don't agree with the line of Rams -2. I think the Rams should be favored by a little bit more, like -4.5/-5.5 or even -6. Even though the Rams are the visiting team, they don't have very far to travel to San Francisco in the same state/time zone. I think the 49ers are getting too much credit for their close, low scoring loss last week against the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle's poor showing was more due to the rainy weather game conditions, Russell Wilson's inability to connect with his receivers for most of the game along with their poor offensive line play, than the 49ers being any good or even decent. The 49ers are just plain garbage. They have a brand new offensive coordinator and they are ranked dead last in the league in Total Offense after two games.

The Rams on the other hand, even though they aren't among the best teams in the league, they can at least score points - albeit against bad teams, but the Niners are a bad team. The Rams have a defense which boasts the best player in the league, Aaron Donald, as ranked/graded by PFF (Pro Football Focus). That's best player in the league, not just best defensive player. He has had a slow start to the season because he held out of training camp for a new contract, but I look for him to get into his dominating form against the 49ers.

As predicted, Giants defense played well, but as also predicted, their offense - even with OBJ - was inept for most of the night. The Giants offensive line is atrocious. Not to mention, very poor playcalling by New York coach Ben McAdoo. Another ugly loss for the Giants, another tasty win for me.

New York has a great defense and if they win tonight, it will likely be because of their D. Their offense, on the other hand is very suspect, mostly due to their offensive line which looked really shaky in both the running and passing game last week against the Cowboys. Even if Odell Beckham Jr (questionable, ankle) plays tonight, it won't matter because if Eli Manning is running around for his life, he won't be able to get the ball to OBJ, much like he wasn't able to get it to Brandon Marshal last week. If the Lions can get pressure on Eli, I think the game will be close and I will go with Detroit plus the points.

Despite losing their star safety, Eric Berry, due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, the Chiefs looked impressive in their win against the Patriots. Having played the Thursday game, they will have had more time to rest and prepare for the Eagles. Plus, they are at home. Philadelphia looked meh in their season opener against the Redskins. Philly's defense is certainly stout, but KC has some dynamic weapons on their offense and their defense pretty much shut down Brady and company in the second half of their victory over the defending champions last week.

I was right that this was going to be a good game to watch. My instincts told me not to bet this game, but I did anyway. Lesson: I should stick with my instincts and go with my intuition. I usually am more shrewd with which games I bet on, but meh, first game of the season hype.

My analysis of the game was off anyway. KC came to play and Akili Smith really balled out, along with the rookie RB. Despite giving up points early, the Chiefs defense put the kibosh on the Pats offense for the most part. Brady not yet looking in his usual championship form.

Thursday Night Football Chiefs @ Patriots

Alright, it's the first game of the NFL regular season. This looks to be a great game to watch, but my instincts are telling me to stay away from betting this game. However, it's been a long off season and I'm feeling the need to put action in already. So screw my instincts tonight.  

The Chiefs do have talent on their team, but I don't think it will be enough against the Pats. The Chiefs lost their starting RB to injury in the preseason and the Pats lost Edelman for the season. No matter, New England is stacked with talent and looking just as dangerous as ever if not more so. New England has too many weapons, they are playing at home on Thursday Night Football to open the season. They will be extra geeked as they will also be hoisting their Championship banner from last year (which will be extra motivation to do well - they wouldn't want to spoil the championship celebration by losing tonight's game). Both teams have had extra time to prepare for each other with this being the first game of the season, but in this department, the edge goes to New England's coach Bill Belicheck.

I would have preferred to have gotten this game with New England -7, but I think -8 will still be doable.

Was a close game early until near the end of the first half. Then disaster struck for Florida State and the wheels came off. The nightmare continued for the Seminoles into the second half which was bad for them, but good for me as Bama was able to easily cover. Making this thread to log my picks and success or failure. As the title of this thread suggests, I will be focusing on mainly the NFL and NCAAF. Rugby picks will be more casual and may be sprinkled in here and there, but it will mostly be for when NFL and NCAAF is in offseason.

This will be an ongoing thread so I don't have to start a new one every season (hence the reason I added rugby, so as to bridge the gap between NFL/NCAAF seasons). While it is a log of my picks, anyone is free to post and discuss anything football - American football, obv. - teams, players, news, rankings, match-ups, injuries, etc. Also, feel free to critique my picks. Agree? Disagree? Want to trash/mock my picks? No, problem. It's all good.  

All my picks that I post in this thread will be "Provably Fair" meaning that I will post either images and/or links to my bestlips for every pick/bet I make before the start of the match(s) for all to see.
