It's not gaining popularity, it has zero developers or development, people are just making money off of people dumb enough to buy certain coins like this one.

Why did they choose the name Junkcoin?
Because it was a Jokecoin. The fact that it gained value shows a lot about the state of alt coins atm.

What do you mean by reliable? If you're asking whether you're going to increase your net worth by 3000% daily from now on, probably not. As for using the coin for transactions, sure it's reliable.
Almost every altcoin lost a lot of value for a brief period while Bitcoin made its charge to $1000+ as people moved there money out of altcoins and into Bitcoin. As Bitcoin's price has lost some momentum for the past short while, money is moving back into altcoins. Of course there's also a huge influx of cash into the markets at the moment as well with the publicity that cryptos have been receiving lately.
I hold quite a few different altcoins, including Junkcoin. I think Junkcoin is still a good hold and I wouldn't sell mine yet. We'll probably see it consolidate and continue to move upwards in the short term, especially with the explosive growth that Cryptsy is seeing right now in both new users and trading volume.

I see coinmarketcap.com that this coin called junkcoin has made a 3000% increase in marketvalue... Is this coin reliable? Is it really new or why is it exploding like this?
The numbers seem pretty good comparing the total coins to the price, but what is the reason why the coin was valued this low in the first place?
