If you post here about the new merit system and say how you're not getting any while there are users selling merit, trading it, buying accounts, etc... instead of crying, you might as well just provide those usernames, since you know there are users doing it, and will for sure get some merit for contributing.

Crying here will get you nowhere and don't say that there are people that are abusing the merit system if you're not going to provide any username.
As far as I know there are some DT members has been making some moves about this matter. Actmyname is one  of those people that really is trying hard to catch and put some red trust to those people. But I think giving red trust today isn't a good thing because some people hasn't understand how the merit system works. Some people thought that merit given can be removed which isn't possible.
Anyway, theymos said that merit sales, trading merit, and giving merit on alts aren't an issue.
Merit sales, transfers to aliases, back-and-forth trading, etc. are not much of an issue. All illegitimate merit will decay, and will account for a tiny and very expensive fraction of the total merit economy. It's basically a rounding error; fight it where convenient, but waste no sleep over it.

For the new guys or those who don't understand, the red trust just out of the blue may not be the best thing, a simple warning first would be great.
I didn't mean to create and start a witch hunt, I meant that people that are saying stuff like "... yet there are still people who trade merit" should provide unleast some usernames to back that or not say it at all.

Why not understand it first before using it in the first place? Information was already given by theymos and members just have to read it. There's nothing wrong about asking too if anyone has a question in their mind that hasn't been answered.

Before giving Merit, there's a note stated that it can't be undone, I think that's good enough to inform that it can't be removed.
