Would be nice to have a list from the scam icos, but maybe could be an external project that the forum, something like https://deadcoins.com/ project.

To find all the ICOs could be a hard task, butt if you find a fast way to find them all, then you have half of the project done.

Oooops... wait I just found something on "Reputation" section and this is what Im talking about.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/scams-of-our-bitcointalk-4701035

It should be on Scam section, since OP of that topic have proven it as a scam.

There are many users who created scam ICO topics, and Scam section is a mess, IMO. I remember there was a scam ICO hunter who accused a project as scam before, and it was a fail accusation, the topic stayed on Scam section until I asked OP to move it to reputation.

I think there should now be a dedicated thread for proven scam ICOs, so DT members could easily tag them. It may not be pinned, but scam ICO hunters could bump the thread by posting scam ICOs.

I do not agree. So many users have become bounty managers lately and they are or they had promoted a lot of ICO's scams.
Let's not forget that we have seen one or two good bounty/sig manager too.

I really like the idea of seeing a summary table with all the projects of each manager, and I think it can also be useful for members who are part of the DT network to get information quickly and easily.
As a community the members can volunteer that but involving the mods/stuffs or anything official is not necessary. They have better job to do than this. We still need to focus on account recovery, account security, preventing merit abuses, preventing account farming, preventing spamming, better user experience perhaps the new forum software which is still in progress (not sure) etc.

...user/comapany that once promote a scam ICO including the scam ICO they have promoted.
That's why we have trust system, so I do not think there are any need for a separate list. We do not want anything that will create extra load for the mods/admins. It's clear that we do not have enough human resources so the minimal load for our mods are better for us.

Besides, the forum is not responsible about ICO scams, the forum does not moderate scams. It will be really difficult for the forum to involved officially with any kind of ICO scam investigation. Not everything can go smooth. It's always good when you do good job but when something goes wrong then everyone will blame you. This is the exact reason I can think of for the forum not to moderate ICO scams.

To me the idea to have one table with all links for every project is great and maybe better faster than DT system, since you can see how many scams or missing bounty payments a manager promoted.

If you know the attitude and professionality of a manager then it will be easy for you to trust a certain ICO project,  the idea is good but maybe the investor should be well educate himself/herself in order not to get scam. Also,  scam accusations/reputation section is a good help to start knowing and busting scam projects with fake developers.

Lets forget about this forum about a moment and lets talk in general.

Is it not the user duty to to do some research?  Do you believe in accepting unknown invitation, opening unknown links?
Then why we start believing in ICO projects and bounties.

Trust system is fairly good and I just think everybody should be sent one-pager while joining , how this forum work.
Everyday you will find a new Copper member starting a new bounty, what you will do about it?

Only work that increase user awareness in general are good and creating this kind of list will give a false sense of security.

(People can go on creating N number of companies, how many we will list ? Tell them how to DYOR correctly it will benefit all.)

Also most of those bounty hunters dont even bother looking on other section of this forum which is sometimes they dont notice that they are already reported on meta.  Grin
exactly why many members of this forum somewhat dislike bounty hunters
they, bounty hunters, are here just for the money and don't care about reading or to get involved in a discussion
and when they do post, their main intention is to gain rank/activity point and not for actual discussion or contribute to the forum

Fortunately not all bounty hunters are like that. With a recent false alarm - a member had made some accusations against an ICO and when I followed it up there were some red flags. Fortunately there were some innocent explanations for them and it was sorted out quite quickly.

I was impressed with the response of both the bounty manager and some of those that were involved in the bounty as bounty hunters. That seems to be the difference between a scam bounty and a decent project. Scam bounties attract spam bots and low quality shills while the more selective bounties try to get members that make quality posts and care whether what they are promoting is a scam or genuine project.

Personally I don't get involved with bounties because my signature is not for sale but it is good to see that there are some members that care about what they promote (and not just for the threat of getting red tagged).

I find blatant shills and bots promoting an ICO for the sake of a bounty extremely unappealing.  It really does the ICO a disservice.

Sorry I forgot to mention that,
In my opinion I think most of the bounty hunter's dont bother their selves looking on trust rating of a user I notice that most of them are too lazy to open one's trust even though they see that there is negative because negative trust in not only about promoting of scam projects.
then it's their own fault for not checking out the project they're joining
they are eager to earn money but too lazy to check the legitimacy of the project?
that's like working for an unknown employer with the uncertainty of getting payment Lips sealed

Managers: Good managers don't accept useless projects, and bad managers (Having negative trust from past) don't care about reputation kind of things. So putting them on a list would make no difference for them. And if people invest in a project that is being managed by someone with a negative trust, they themselves are responsible for their loss if the project turns out being a scam. Legitimate people having a legitimate mindset would not hire someone like that to manage their project as it affects their reputation too.

Promoters: Again, people don't invest their money into a project just by seeing a promotion by someone, but they at least reach out to their announcements and managements etc, and if they find untrustworthy people in the project and still invest, it is their own responsibility.

Companies: Listing companies who would never appear again once they get what they were hunting for is totally useless IMO. If there are to be another scam attempt, it would be with another name, with another imaginary team and staff.

Basically, that thread would only contain information that would not be at all helpful for people to stay away from scams. Besides, who reads Stickies these days? As long as I know most of the new comers don't even open them.

....these things are left to community, this is why we have trust system.
Exactly, as a community person if we do our job for the forum then we will see these kind of scams/spams will not stand out for too long. Whenever you (we/us) spot a scam, create a scam accusation topic. Gather the information, evidences then ask the DTs to tag the user if s/he is knowingly promoting the scam.

Well, that thread is really helpful, but I think it can't be pinned. As mdayonliner said, scams aren't moderated here, while making this thread pinned would be moderation. It's not up to moderators to judge which project is scam and which user is scammer, these things are left to community, this is why we have trust system.

ICOs should have to pay a fee to make their own thread.  This will weed out a large majority of the scammers that barely put any effort into their scams.

It's clear that we do not have enough human resources so the minimal load for our mods are better for us.
I think its not a hard task to create and edit a pinned post once in a while.

Besides, the forum is not responsible about ICO scams
I know this but I think if we ignore this things that is happening right now it can break the image of bitcoin to other people day by day.

If this post violates any rules of the forum please inform me.

I think this idea might help to lessen the victim's of scam ICO/projects.

We all notice that this year, there are too many scam project's that is introduced to us and too many innocent and ignorant people are traumatized on cryptocurrency because the have invested on a scam project because its their first time, and this might break the image of the cryptoworld on some people.

This happens on me that's why I made some research on the mentioned company.

The time that I've reached Jr. Member I tried this "bounty" in this forum and unfortunately Im not lucky because the first bounty I joined is "TipperEconomy" which managed by this user "needmoney", Actually I did get the token 115 days ago and until now the coin I received doesnt still have its value and there's no more responses by the team on their telegram.

Here's my MEW address: 0x5c53C9f8A7788308ED9c6557cB560c41f77F9Cf0

So after my failure on joining bounty campaign because Im a newbie I stop joining bounties and try to observe how bounty works and how can I choose a ligitimate bounty to promote.

This little idea came up to my mind to lessen the victims of scam ICO and bounty hunters will avoid it.

For example: Tokensuite company - I made a quick research about the company and find out that they have promoted many scam ICO this year.

Quick list of proven scam projects promoted by Tokensuite company
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2943023.280
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hexcash-a-pure-scam-ico-4567062
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hashcardio-a-scam-confirmed-3365068
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/scamreport-greenish-coin-4421714

I realized that they made millions of dollars from the investors from those project's and just leave the investors that support those projects.

This is really bad not only for those investors who lose their money but also for our community because maybe some of those investors now might not trust cryptoworld anymore.

_______________________________________________________________________________ ____________

We must have another pinned post that contain's the list of user/comapany that once promote a scam ICO including the scam ICO they have promoted.

with format inside like this or better:  Smiley

This is only a little help but Im sure that it can help a lot to:
-lessen the users in this who promote scam
-lessen the investor victims from social media

I think all of us know that social media has a big part on every bounty campaign's because social media has the biggest community.

A experienced bounty hunter will surely not promote and dont waste their time on a scam ICO's and they will surely always take a look on that pinned post list and ignore some possible scam ICO in the future.

"Some people on social media say "Bitcoin is a scam" blah blah... because some of them once a victim of a scam ICO and they think its because of bitcoin because they dont have any idea whats going on in the cryptoworld".

We cant blame them, but this affects our community even a little.

I know this idea cant fully stop those increasing count of SCAM project's but at least we can lessen the victims by reducing the count of promoters of scam ICO's.

Please share if you have any better idea on this.  Smiley
