Sweet! I'm getting 180 Mhash now. Thanks!

The first is by definition not flawed.
I suggest you save yourself a lot of work and hassle and use the
Radeon Bios Editor together with WinFlash.
Both progs can be easily googled and downloaded and tutorials
are also easy to find.

...getting 196Mhash with -v -w128 -f10

I'm mining with a 5770 and getting 130 Mhash, no parameters (haven't even taken the time to figure out what they mean)...

130 Mhash is quite low for a 5770. I overclock mine to 1000 Mhz core and 300 Mhz mem, and I can get 220~240 Mhash with cgminer. Even without overclock at default clock rates, I can get 170~180.

Is that decent for a 7770? I'm mining with a 5770 and getting 130 Mhash, no parameters (haven't even taken the time to figure out what they mean)...

I have a 6770 and using those parameters will easily get you to 190Mhash. 130 Mhash is without any parameters

I only have 6xxx cards, I can't help you with how to downclock your video memory.
But if you manage to find out how to downclock the memory of your 7770, give a try to CGMINER.
I use guiminer before i switch to cgminer with the exact same settings in underclocking memory, overclocking core speeds and undervolting.
Cgminer gives me less stales and more hashspeed than guiminer, but there is a downside.
With guiminer my temps are 3-4 Celsius lower than cgminer.

Try, with CGMiner, --gpu-engine XXX --gpu-memclock XXX flags to set your Core clock and RAM clock (change the XXX's to your respective clocks obviously). Set your memory at 150MHz less than your Core clock.

Alternatively, --gpu-memdiff -150 will set the RAM clock 150MHz lower than the Core clock.

I prefer the first method because I can set exactly where I want the Core to be at. Also, to get a good CGMiner.conf file, set you flags in the command line to start CGMiner and then press "s" for settings, then "w" to write out the file, and press "enter" to confirm writing. That will give you a clean and correct format .conf file to use with command "CGMiner.exe -c cgminer.conf"

On the GUI front, I find MSI Afterburner will work sometimes when Sapphire Trixx is not working right.

Try these :

GUI based
MSI Afterburner
EVGA Precision
AMD GPU clock tool

Command Line based
Clocktweak

I have the same problem before, and eventually change my miner to CGMiner, since it has built in overclocking / downclocking feature.

Since i"m new (don't have the requisite numbers) to post to the appropriate section, i'll have to post this here.

I've been a casual windows bitcoin miner since last june, mostly using guiminer and Poclbm, but this is my first 7000 series card.

So far I've only been able to get the MSI 7770 to about 1075 getting 196Mhash with -v -w128 -f10.

But I can't find a program that will underclock my memory. This 7770 is using a ton of wattage at 925mhz memory (lowest I can get it in catalyst), about 88W. Anyone have a way to downclock? I've tried afterburner, barelyclocked and sapphire trixx.

Info:

Windows 7
12.6 drivers
amd 12.7 sdk

Also, if theres a better miner for the 7770 let me know, I'd be glad to try it.

Have you  tried sapphire trixx or Rivatuner?

No luck with riva either Sad

I haven't tried riva yet, but yea, trixx didn't help. I've mined on 6970s, 6770s, 5750s, 6670s, laptops, etc. I think this issue is isolated to the 7000 series. SO I figured someone with a 7000 series would know. Like maybe 12.5 drivers allows downclocks, etc.

I'll give riva a try in a bit.
