The mine is doing well so far, some old riserless motherboards that I inherited as well are starting to burn out as well (pcie slots not working) so I'm slowly been replacing those since the hardware is still cheap at this point.

the HP/Dell server PSUs work very well and havent had any issues with those.

96 out of the 100 cards are online, the 4 damaged ones basically just saved the GPU fans from those.

Currently 65 dollars a day in profit. God I hope a Kawpow ASIC is never released.

okay got to get the 470s back on line.  nice
I'm hoping too see 1-2 dollars rev per rx470 a day in a bull run like 2021 but this card design is pushing a decade now =/
Rx470 were giving even 5 dollars per day in 2021  Cool
This was a flaw of the ASIC manufacturers.
Now there are already good universal chips for replacing processors in mining and for replacing video cards on profitable coins, ASICs are also appearing very quickly.
In my opinion, 50 cents per day of profit for this video card on free electricity is already very good.
Do you see Kawpow ASICS in the near future or is it impossible due to the KAWPOWs extensive use of the GPU components?

This would be possible if there were ASICs for Ethereum Classic. But these video cards have few algorithms on which they can give a good hashrate now, and many algorithms are limited by the memory of the video card. But you have a profitable option with electricity, so you are not in danger of losing money.

It looks like DNX is the best one to mine a the moment. Spent the week/weekend setting up the cards and have 90 online as of right now, the last 10 seem to be duds or non functional. lets see where this goes.
10 percent of non-working video cards is still normal. Check the fuses on these video cards, but just don't test them on good mining motherboards to avoid blowing them. Just first watch the video on YouTube on how to do it correctly. Perhaps you can repair a couple more video cards.
I have it reduced down to 5 cards being duds due to the GPU's pcie bus being burnt to a crisp. I have purchased 10 more BC-160 cards from aliexpress for around 130 USD each to replace the broken cards and theyre running great.
Need more video cards.  Smiley LOL
The Kawpow algorithm will be good for AMD video cards for a long time. On Nvidia video cards it is not always profitable.
AMD BC-160 are more reliable due to turbines instead of coolers. But cheap video cards also take up a lot of space, but the payback of $130 in 9 months is good.
Kawpow+ AI bases coins seem to be the winning formula right now lol.

Since electricity is free for now, it seems like stronger older RNDA cards like RX 5700 or BC 160 seem to be a great cheap option compared to stronger Nvidia cards.

I don’t know where the profit of 65 dollars from 105 old video cards comes from. And these video cards consume 15 kilowatts of electricity per hour.
https://hashrate.no/gpus/470
If I mine, then with my electricity price the average profit per day will be 30-35 dollars, but this can change any day. Don’t forget the time when mining on these video cards was unprofitable.
It was just for a couple of days on k1pool, might have been a lucky few days for the pool. now its averaging around 30 dollars a day it seems but still I am quick pleased. Im currently looking into replacing these cards with BC-160 Cards sometime in the future.

If you want to prevent theft you need to conceal your gear. I remember years ago some bitcoin miner had probably hundreds of those bitcoin usb flash miners in his apartment. And he left his window and blinds open. And during the day was fine but at night there was nothing but hundreds of LEDs flashing. Eventually I think someone called the cops and they paid him a visit. The moral of the story is you need to hide your gear.

If you leave your window open wide and show your Neighbour all your gpus you might become a target since everyone things that crypto people are rich. Just use common sense.

Free electricity goes a long way when it comes to profit on graphics card mining. I assume that’s why he’s making a profit with old cards where others would be lucky to break even. Pretty amazing to inherit 100 graphics cards regardless of the reason. I’m glad to see that OP has found a way to keep them online and working.
With free electricity it is impossible to mine at a loss Smiley
But in my experience, in such cases there are other risks or the miner must pay money to another person for using this resource. If I had such a resource, I would buy more modern video cards or even ASICs in order to use these 15 Kilowatts with maximum benefit.

You've actually sort of explained how you can lose money with free electricity.  Expanding your mining footprint with your own money means you now have an investment to recoup.  If any of that hardware goes bad, you're losing money.  If the hardware takes a lot of air conditioning to keep functioning, you've now got more equipment to invest in.  If a thief comes or a fire breaks out...  More losses.  Don't kid yourself, there's always ways to lose money and if you're greedy, you'll find them.  If I were OP I would be selling those things on eBay before they're worthless and mining with them in the meantime to take advantage of free heat if possible.  That's how you don't lose money in this scenario.
You can protect yourself from fires and problems associated with installation and wiring if you have basic knowledge of electrical engineering. If you buy non-hot video cards, they will work even without ventilation, but this depends on the room temperature. RX 470 video cards work in any conditions even at a chip temperature of 80-90 degrees for a very long time.
And to prevent theft, you need a protected area or a private home, and the most important thing is that no one knows that you have mining equipment.

yeah it is truly important to not have people break in and rob gear.

Yeah you gotta becareful with different algos because some use more power than others. The biggest issue is whether your PSU can handle it and also depending on how you have your risers powered.

If you are using those SATA connectors to power your riser and you start to mine a more power intensive coin, you might end up melting those connectors even though they were previously fine. Right now profitability is in the toilet. You can switch algos and coins but in the end your profits will more or less be the same.

The fact that you got those 100 RX 470 GPUS for free is proof that mining is dead.

Where am I pointing these cards?

KawPow looks to be the most profitable on whattomine but 10 dollars a day from 100 cards?

Is there anything else that may fetch more profit?
If you want to get the best profit, then choose the most profitable coin. Today it is DYNEX (DNX)
https://hashrate.no/gpus/470
Mining this coin is good because video cards do not overheat and in this mode the power consumption is less than when mining coins using the kawpow algorithm.
The best profit is $13 per day, but I don't believe that all your video cards will work perfectly. These video cards have a lot of cooling systems without gas and other problems, so the next 2 months will be very busy for you to set up mining and remove defective GPUs.

The hashrates on hashrate.no are not correct. The 470/570 can reach up to 3300h @ 60w software readed power (depends with the gpu manufacturer).

Biggest problem on this site, the hashrates not up to date for many cards, mostly the older cards, they only work with power consumption over software -> as we all know this is incorrect.
Many dual mining option or single algos are not tested or not well tested.

Whattomine is more "accurate" in terms of power usage, but no dual mine options.

Hashrate.no must work more with the community to get and keep it up to date, but thats not the case.
Specifically in this case, the difference in profit is small, but you are right that the Samsung mother will work better. I sold out of my 470 graphics cards over a year ago because after almost 6 years of mining they were having issues with overclocking and mining stability so I was forced to use a lower overclock.

Cheesy with 470 better you sell that free electric compared to mining these very moment, just cant imagine 10kw/hr throwing for nothing
or you can sell those gpus buying some cheap coin at the moment, and enjoying your life, isnot easy manage 100 gpus, if nothing worthed to paid for

Be careful with kawpow on rx470. This algo uses more power and more heat. Rx470 old card you need to do very good maintance before start. All coins pays nearly same 1cent more or less  Grin
