Each coin is going to be different with different requirements. Some work with PoS, meaning you need x amount to even run a node. For instance Waves requires 10k Waves to run a node. I did this for a while, not very profitable for the barrier to entry. Others like Stratis you can lease and simply earn more off your coins. Some like NEM to "emissions". Also each one works differently.
You're going to want to research into Bitcoin derivatives that use PoW. I'd highly suggest looking into the ZenProtocal. Checks all your boxes and is yet to be released, meaning you should have a good chance of figuring it out and getting set-up prior to release.

Yesterday I started looking into mining alt coins. I have never minded any coins ever. Is there a good place where I can learn the basics of mining alt coins and how to make money doing so? If I bought a antminer what coins could I mine with that? Can you make serious money by mining alt coins or is it to difficult now?
