For all my fellow Bitcoin investors I just wanted to share to you all about something that stood out to me today.  I currently work at T-Mobile and we deal with other peoples credit all the time.  I would say at least 80% of time, in my area, we get the worst of the worst credit classes. Today I had a customer tell me his entire life story about his failing business and how hes in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.  This guy's method of staying on his feet is by bouncing 10k checks , withdrawing the money, then piling more debt on top of what he already owes....  All in the same day my sisters debit card information gets stolen and $1000 dollars gets withdrawn from the account in some casino.  The Bank proceeds to pay us back but the thief just ran away with $1000 and no penalty. Cases similar to these happen every day and on even larger scales. The moral of this all is that the system is broken.  This belief that our money is safe in FIAT currencies is all a lie.  Do not lose faith in Bitcoin and the decentralized network, it is a currency run by the people and for the people.  Keep your heads up and invest wisely!

we all know that Fiat works for day-to-day transactions and i generally advice any body saving it to spend it if you have it

yes we know sometimes putting your money in a bank is also not free from risk, however putting your money into bitcoin is also not the right decision, somehow let say the bank go bankrupt, our government still guarantee our money will be back, if we lost our bitcoin there wont be any compensation, so i think its a wise decision to split your money half fiat and half bitcoin

What that "guy" is doing is none of your business and same goes to the guy who stole your sister's 1000$ assuming that they aren't the same person. You didn't lose anything, your sister didn't lose anything as well. Only the bank did lose something. Well, there are other crimes out there that are more clever than what you said and we don't even know that it exists.

Also, you can't just claim that the fiat system is a lie just because of what happened. I could only think of a worse reaction from you if your sister didn't get her money back.
It wasn't my fault this guy decided to tell me his life story, so I was minding my own business.  Personally I don't think you understand the point of this post. I am not complaining in anyway I am only stating facts and an occurrence that happen within my life that I thought had relevance with Bitcoin.

I actually quite agree with this statement, that someone should only have reacted like that if his sister haven't got the money back or the bank would have denied to pay them back what they lost, so if the bank paid your sisters money back then you cannot call that system a lie as they did not let you pick up any loss but took it on themselves.

I still try to earn bitcoin, I only buy it to invest it sometimes to try to make more as the price goes up and down and is very volatile but as more and more peeps want bitcoin I am sure in the future the price will be more steady than it is now.

I've never really lost faith in Bitcoin and I don't think I've ever had to have some reassurance of the existence of Bitcoin or whether or not it would fail, but I do enjoy hearing stories like these occasionally. None of the things you said in your story surprise me at all, and I almost expect some of them to be honest. Scamming and the like are common everywhere, and I basically am just not surprised about half of this anymore.

I think the users here doesn't need that much reassurance for sure. I think every user of this forum believes firmly and without doubts in bitcoin otherwise we would not be here. Still these stories can do only good to our emotive part and our heart and of course to our way of thinking. When I go out walking I go out with a feeling of greatness and look other persons like small ones that they don't know or have bitcoins yet. Maybe its no good to show vanity but it feels great to your heart.

i can't see how any of these is supposed to make me feel better about my bitcoin investment, don't get me wrong i love investing in bitcoin and using it as a currency but all i can see in this comment is the mistake that people made. i can give you hundreds of similar example in bitcoin when people got their wallets hacked (like stolen debit card) and they lost money and are in debt because of their own mistakes!!

Bitcoin hacks just make news.
Fraud in fiat gets buried deep inside the newspapers, unless it is a massive one.
The world needs a trustless solution and Bitcoin can be the answer.

not really!
whenever a news is big it is big regardless of what it is about, and yes the media sometimes make bitcoin news bigger but they are big to begin with like the bitfinex hack it was huge about 73 million dollar hack so it should have been big.

also about fiat we always hear statistics about how big is the credit card frauds and how many people are losing money and whenever there is a big robbery in fiat world the news will be big too.

Very well said. Anything happen in the FIAT financial system central banks jump in and saying we are gonna fix this problem with QE quantitative easing or by raising interest rates. Both these options are failure as so is capitalism a failed system which is based on taking credit. Any system who is based on such thing is destined to fail no matter what and how good the country or government is.

Bitcoin is a really big solution and even some sort of threat to such economy in our days. I believe in bitcoin completely and I am very much afraid for the money I have in my bank account, what if the bank goes bankrupt? So its better to keep bitcoins until better days in price of bitcoin comes.

I haven`t lost my faith in bitcoin ,but the cryptocurrencies still have many problems  that need to be solved.

There are many credit card/debit card scammers and also many bitcoin scammers.

We can`t get rid ot them.We just have to be carefull.

Fiat works for day-to-day transactions, but I'm not arguing that the system isn't broken.  It's very broken.  When you get fiat--and this is my opinion--you need to spend it, and not save it.  Especially with interest rates at 0%.  I don't keep any money in my checking account over what I need to live.  All my fiat I use to buy things with, including stocks which pay good dividends.  And bitcoin of course.  And some precious metals here and there.  Fiat ain't for keeping, it's for spending.
100% agreed.  Personally I have stopped keeping my savings in the bank other than spending/living money.  All my savings is in Bitcoin, developing altcoins, and businesses that revolve around the idea of bitcoin.

Only on bitcoin we can see how much amount outstanding on users and we can not change it, everything is clear, more fair and there are not be hidden. It is different with fiat we can not see how much amount outstanding in every country because it is secret of government, and it can be manipulated.

Yes fiat currency has its ups and downs and to be honest there is an unfair trade. But the problem is not with fiat currencies but on people handling them. Bitcoin also has that kind of problem, peoples attitude and greed. Hackers and scammers are everywhere and after stealing your bitcoin there are nobody to help you get it back. So whatever currency we use either virtual or fiat as long as there is greed in our hearts the unfair trade is still there.
