Wow, an admin edits a quote, and people not seeing the original opinion
oh well, this is a problem as well

Make a quote yourself, take a screenshot of the thread, or copy and paste the quote somewhere where it can't be changed or messed with.

You mean stopping things like that?

But then you wouldn't be able to edit irrelevant bits out of people's posts. Also, clicking the quote takes you back to the original.
Good point but do people even bother? The internet is overrun by lazy people anyways (talking from experience)  Grin

"I'm going to give away 10 BTC to the first guy to send me 5 BTC, quote this so I can't change this"

Trustworthy member quotes this, and later receives a PM:

"Hey, some guy actually sent me 5 BTC, can you change your quote for 1 BTC so I don't have to pay them?"

All edits are recorded, so I can confirm/deny whether someone did this if I'm asked.
Wow, an admin replied to my post Smiley . Anyways, so are you the only one who can see edits? Or do all admins have the privilege? I think it's better if other people can see the edits as well. Or, make it so that the edits can only delete parts of the quotes and not add in parts, because some people take out irrelevant parts. And on that topic sometimes when people join late for a conversation and see quotes with 'irrelevant' parts missing they may not be seeing what the original message was trying to express. Just my humble opinions  Grin

Interesting, I didn't know you were able to do that. That makes the OP pretty redundant then.

I think that he actually wants to ban "misquotes". But these are often useful, so I'm not going to disallow them.

Ah, if he is talking about someone purposefully misquoting a post, then they usually will be called out for doing so by the people on the thread anyway. I can see your logic.
I get it it is just like with buying accounts: Instead of banning it, we can use it to our own advantage by knowing who does it and being aware of them.
It would be better to just ban them on sight so nobody bothers to buy accounts anymore. Kill the problem at the source, don't fight the side effects.

Awesome.  Maybe the new forum could have a "post history" link that showed the edits.  Make the link available only to hero members.   Grin

I've seen people take advantage of this

Would you mind elaborating it a bit?  Smiley
I can't think of how people take advantage by changing their quotes...
