I think it's not that Buffett doesn't like Bitcoin but he doesn't see it as an investment channel that will bring him profit at this time. The cryptocurrency market is full of pitfalls, from launching rumors to pushing prices, to creating FUD for users... The cryptocurrency market is also very potential and can bring big profits. So there is no reason for Buffett to ignore this market, just when he will invest.

I do think gifting a man who has no respect whatsoever for the bitcoins and call them delusional and fake , engages in hate tweets do deserve something like this.
He should have gifted someone who actually cared about the bitcoins .
It would have made more sense this way, at the end of the day this man has already predicted that the bitcoins won't be there for more than 10-20 years , he won't be surprised if they disappeared and considering how many people follow him , he is just helping to make the government indirectly on Bitcoins.

Which one do you mean? Justin or Warren? Cheesy
Since then Sun bought Poloniex and had received $2millionusd from the US relief fund for US based business owners since then.
Yet he is a chinese nationalist and majority of his businesses are there.
So you tell me how could this be overlooked? Embarrassed

Now everyone knows that Buffett has cryptocurrency among its assets. Buffett has a huge audience that loves and recognizes him

It doesn't mean a goddamn thing

If anything, it only means that some dude gave Buffett a bitcoin and probably meant something else other than making a present (for example, to show off and get some cheap attention). It doesn't in any way mean that Buffett all of a sudden changed his mind and started to consider cryptocurrencies a real asset (not even speaking of considering Bitcoin one of his assets). He was just too polite to refuse this gift right away. But we will likely find out soon enough what he is going to do with it anyway

Thus, Justin to some extent launches a flash mob where people give cryptocurrency to each other. The popularization of cryptocurrency

He is at least 7 years late. Coinbase was doing that in 2013

It would be very interesting to know what was at stake, maybe some information would someday appear. Moreover, Warren was very skeptical of cryptocurrencies, and his words are very important because of his authority as a competent investor. If he changes his mind, then this can give a very strong impetus

What do you mean at stake here?

Justin Sun won an auction at eBay in June last year to have a luncheon with Warren Buffett for 4.5 million dollars, if I remember correctly, the largest amount in 20 years that the auction has been held. It was just postponed a few times by Sun reportedly due to his health issues (he doesn't look very healthy overall on the photo). Sun even asked Donald Trump to be with him at the lunch, but it seems like Trump doesn't give a slightest fuck about either of them (or he can just talk to Buffett as and when he pleases)

Justin Sun is a tricky fellow. The fact that he gifted Bitcoin and the throne (cryptocurrency) to Warren Buffett, he did it exclusively for marketing.

This kind of meeting is a plus to the blockchain space. Warren Buffett has not been welcoming the crypto and blockchain idea, hope after this gathering, he will know the revolution behind blockchain and how it stands to benefit all.

This was not a warren buffet is changing his mind on crypto meeting.  If you read anything about warren Buffett you know that if you cant tangibly see value in something (like earnings, etc) than he isnt interested in speculating in it.  At this point in his life I'm sure he isnt going to all of the sudden pivot away from that after he amassed a fortune doing things his way to begin with.

Warren Buffett is an amazing guy, dude is 89 years old right now and he constantly says that he eats like a 6 year old and he jokes about it by saying "because mortality rates are very low for 6 year olds" Cheesy. Dude has managed to be successful for over 60 years now, that is not something people can actually do that constantly anymore because the world changed and I bet even if Warren Buffet himself started at 20 years old right now with 100k or even 10 million dollars at his hand, he wouldn't be able to reach 50+ billion dollars he always has (and would have been over 100 billion if he didn't donated) because the world changed too much.

Of course, it is still very important to invest into things you know about and trusted compared to stuff that "may make you rich over night" but that would seriously take too long, he wouldn't be a billionaire before he is 70+ years old if he started today.

Saying someone cant do that is a fallacy.  People will do that In the future, especially with inflation the way it is.  It is absolutely possible and might actually be easier now than when he did it due to the economy being worldwide now.  You have access to much more of the world than in years past.

It's not easy money for Warren, he gives money from that launch to some charities, as far as I know. I think that Justin Sun is just paying for promotion, this is the thing he is doing from the start. He is going around, meets with celebrities, promoting his project, and so on.
If you get a million dollars just to have food for an hour you do not think it is easy money, to make a million dollars in your bank account majority will spend their entire life and you think otherwise Roll Eyes. He is a sales man throughout his career and that is how he made his fortune.

He don't get any money for that lunch, all that money goes to charity, it's called Warren Buffett charity lunch.
" For the 20th year in a row, Buffett is auctioning off a lunch for the highest bidder to support one of his favorite charities, San Francisco’s Glide Foundation"
It's not money for him, as he gives all that amount to a charity. When he doesn't keep money we can't say that he earned them in some easy way. That money doesn't go to Warren Bank account, don't you think that if this money doesn't go to his bank account we can't say that he earned that money!
Okay lets put up some add on link to that one https://www.businessinsider.com/how-warren-buffett-spends-net-worth-philanthropy-2018-10
I agree to the sentiment that he wont intend to make or get those money from that dinner on his own.If we do consider out his charitable works
then this is just a lump sum if we try to compare.

I think Justin is the best marketing guy anyone could ever find to their company. All he does is market the hell out of something and then the delivery of that would be less than 20% of his hype. Dinner with Warren made a great news in the starting but as he is not crypto friendly it didn't deliver the expected.

So he think he can convert Buffet to invest in Cryptocurrency? I don't think so he cannot be bought by just a few millions this guy has a tons of it, if he wants to market his coin there are better ways but not a publicity like this that I doubt will yield results.
No one actually knows what their conversation was that "actually" led to him gifting him that amount of cryptocurrency. Sun has been wanting to have a dinner with Warren, thus I guess it was simply a kind gesture.
Moreover, Warren don't look like a man who will easily change his mind. He is personal made: he surely can afford $4 million.  Grin  Also, even if Warren is not a fan of Bitcoin at least he knows the importance of Blockchain.

Finally this dinner took place.
It is so good to see investors such as Warren Buffett being involved in the crypto space even if the cryptocurrencies that he acquired are gifted. I don't like Justin Sun, but I have to admit that he tries a lot for bringing mass adoption.

It's more of a win-win for the crypto guys who attended specially Justin. I mean they met one of the most successful investors in the face of Wareen Buffett. And that gift is a nice one on the part of Justin. But it doesn't mean that Warren will shift his stance of bitcoin. And I don't think that this is the reason why we suddenly see a massive spike and even crossing the 5 digit. I also don't like Justin because of his shilling, however, he has his own style of bringing up his Tron on every discussion and most of the time it is very effective.

Justin Sun literally sounds like a made up Chinese name, maybe it could even be. Usually they change their names to English in a very different way than other nations, like everyone has a different alphabet but they still use phonetic resembles and not a totally different name. When you go to Russia, if a dudes name is Vladamir, it is Vladamir all around the world, when you go to china if dudes name is weird, he changes to something like "howard" suddenly so it is easier for you Cheesy That is weird.

Warren Buffet had to do this (at age 89, he doesn't look a day older than 88 Cheesy ) because this dinners income goes to a charity and he does it every year, I doubt he cared even a single bit that he got free bitcoin or tron, he probably just put it somewhere and will never look at it.

I doubt warren would care as well. Think of Warren Buffett and how much of a friend he is with Bill Gates, dude is bridge partners with Bill Gates and has been friends for over 2 decades!! And he still didn't bought a single share of Microsoft. The same dude who has been friends with Bill Gates for over 2 decades and never bought a single share of microsoft, decided to buy APPLE shares few years ago. Do you know what that means? Dude is probably the greatest intelligent investor in the whole world or maybe even in the history. Thats why I seriously think he won't care about this meeting at all. Maybe this could lead him to take a look into it a bit more, however I doubt it will lead into anything major like his other investments, maybe just test things.

This thing has been made the Tron price is increasing, right?

But after all, I'm really appreciate what has done by Justin Sun. He is able to pay a lot of money just for eat with Warrent Buffet, which I think (what's so special about him) maybe he is an expert to investment so as the can attract many people there into cryptocurrency.

Yeah, I'm sure this new will give a huge affact for the situation and even an adoption into cryptocurrency, I just hoping it. Because through these ways we will have more chance to make cryptocurrency being used in all country even for payment system.

Buffett is probably going to regift that Tron/bitcoin to one of his grandkids, as I'm sure he has no interest in it whatsoever--though I'm sure he appreciated the sentiment behind it.

Ultimately it doesn't matter what Buffett's opinion on crypto is, since he made his fortune with other investments and doesn't need to invest in bitcoin (or Tron).  I wouldn't underestimate his knowledge of crypto's function, however.  Buffett is no fool and knows a lot about economics, money, finance, and a lot more.

And at this point in his life why would he possibly ruin his rep with something he is unfamiliar with.  Crypto is a millenial thing, not a roaring 20s thing lol
He was born after the roaring 20s--just sayin'.  Nor do I think he'd be ruining his reputation by investing in crypto.  The fact is that he just doesn't see the need for it, as you mentioned.  I'd be interested to know what happens to the crypto-gift that he got from Sun, but I'm pretty sure there won't be any followup on that.

He's got enough of the top economy influencers in the world around him to know at least the basics of cryptocurrencies.

Of course he doesn't see the need for it - check out his portfolio and you'd know why. He's a heavy investor in banking systems and, working with banks and with the system for so many decades, his opinion most likely cannot be changed. He's going to support the system because it's what made him become the billionaire we know today.

Smart business. Learning how to incentivize people and taking their emotions are the types of equipment you need to succeed in business. Justin made the right investment and decision with this move and I find it really smart.

Warren Buffett is an icon in trading. It means that he can influence 90% of the traders. Justing made his part and will make sure to benefit his investment sooner or later. But then, It's really uncertain if Warren Buffett really is agreeing with bitcoin and blockchain. He might just be accepted the gift and he already knew the motive of Justin why he gave it to him.

We will then see what further news about this.

Warren Buffett is not a trader he is a value investor getting fundamentally sound stocks at a good price. But I agree with your points that several people follow Buffett and Sun tries his marketing with the ace investor where everyone knows it and this has created news around the corner. But Warren was very clear about his views on cryptocurrency even if he is wrong he won't regret it and that is how he is been all these years

No one questions his investment skills and he will not join a new bitcoin market and there is a valid point for his skepticism as the entire market could die if some crazy developer or a hacker does something crazy. The way in which Justin Sun made his money through his projects in the market and he is spending it lavishly when some of the major projects like Litecoin are struggling to make ends meet and i wonder how long it will take to see him go bankrupt.

I think maybe it is like that because it does not make sense if justin gave bitcoin and tron with just only for the rich like this warren buffett, or maybe this could also be a drama for both of them to be able to raise the price of tron at the exchange.

but if it is like that it is possible warren buffett will repay the kindness of justin by buying bitcoin and making tron up and making many people support the price of tron.

I’m not entire sure why would WB accept the crypto despite knowing it has association with drugs, gambling, illegal transactions, I think it set a precedent to any no coiners who constantly doubt about crypto, why wouldn’t everybody just accept crypto? Warren Buffet is an elderly man, so he wouldn't change his mind about cryptocurrency. Most of pensioners are so skeptical about the technology.
It is not about skepticism, the old generation will not understand technology and the best they will learn is to switch on the computer and nothing more and Warren Buffett is 80 plus years and making him understand how technology works is a hurdle and i am surprised that he accepted the offer and Justin Sun achieved what he wanted, a million dollar lunch and he gifted his alts and nothing else. Easy money for someone who is living is old days making appearance and there is nothing that Warren will change in a short period.

How could buffet reject if anyone gifts him bitcoins? Warren buffet is one of the most successful entrepreneur and these successful people have their own kind of strategies which keeps them making wealthier.

Bitcoins are actually a perfect gift we could gift anyone. Gift is meant to be something which would be loved by the person and also anything which can be beneficial for the person receiving the gift. Warren buffet is already one of the most richest guy in the world so what gift could actually impress him? Justin Sun might have thought on this for a long time before he could conclude on gifting buffet with bitcoins and tron.

I often see Warren Buffett in youtube, especially his commercial about stock market. In this case, I do really think that Warren Buffet is anti cryptocurrency as he is protecting his assets whether people could change their mind to invest in cryptocurrency other than his stocks. Though, with this particular news concerning Warret Buffett willingly accepting gift of Tron and Bitcoin, I can see that he's now changing his perspective to cryptocurrency which is good as more people could trust BTC and crypto with his influence.
Accepting gift might not just mean us that Buffet has started accepting the regulation of cryptocurrencies. Buffet is more like a stocks guy which would never publicly invest into any of the cryptos. He and Justin Sun might be having some strong business relations which might not have allowed him to reject Justin's gift but this would never mean that buffet would utilize those bitcoins and tron in order to make profits for himself.

He might yet be hating cryptocurrencies but perhaps this gift can make him believe in cryptocurrencies for long term if ever we land up in the bull runs. Can you image how large profits Buffet would actually gain for holding that "gift" in the coming bull runs?

Buffett is too old to understand technology but he knows how to run a company like Hathaway.  The conversation between the world's greatest investor and the owner of the world-famous Blockchain project will change the minds of a range of people who are active in the field of finance and technology.  The truth is that Economics and Technology have combined excellently.  I hope the Buffet will change its mind and soon invest in a Blockchain project or apply Blockchain in its business.

It ain't happening.  He is steadfast in his ways and for good reason will probably stick to it.  If you had a plan and it made you billions would you really blink and eye to something that doesnt fit within the model....it made him a Billionaire! Shitcoin will always be a shitcoin. Tron is just a pump and dumps coin and I don't know why there are still people believing this Justin Sun. Money talks. That's how money is powerful for sure.
I hope they talk more about major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Warren Buffet is smart enough for sure.

I agree and Sun must be making tenths of millions from it if he's able to spend 4.5 on a dinner with someone who isn't going to change his mind. What was the point of it?
Warren is an old man who is now riding the wave of the money he made many years ago. He's not going to switch from fiat to crypto or see value in it because he's been using fiat for the last 80 years and doesn't have time or the knowledge to start using digital decentralized money in the last few years of his life, because let's be honest, he's not going to live much longer.
All this TRON hype and promises are going to turn into fiat money on Sun's private account.

I'm pretty sure this isn't going to end well and Buffet won't buy TRON or BTC,which might be good for the crypto world after all.We don't need more billionaires to turn into crypto whales and dictate the cryptocurrency prices.
I am also confused by the title written by the OP because Warren Buffet has become a very wealthy person why justin gave bitcoin and tron to him. has a good impact on tron prices and more and more investors and rich people will follow in Warren Buffett's lead to support Tron.

I am rapidly losing my respect for Justin Sun. I don't understand what did he achieved by gifting $4 million to Warren Buffet. He essentially gifted this huge amount, to some of the most rabid opponents of Bitcoin. Mr. Buffet is never going to refuse the free money. He will just take the coins and then dump them in the market to convert them to fiat. And after that, as usual he will resume his tirade against cryptocurrency.

Very much possible! But I believe what Justin Sun did, can be termed as a great promotion of his own coin as well as bitcoin! Mr. Buffet was always a great critic of cryptos and we have seen him hurling negative comments about it in many public forums. Donating bitcoin and TRX to such a personality, is basically an attemp to associate his name with his least favorite things in life! It would clearly get media attention and also enjoys attentions from the similar kind of elite class investors.

It's a clever marketing strategy that Justin executed precisely and cleaverly!

Hmm, somehow Cheesy. And I think Justin is trying to put a spotlight on his coin by seating it beside the name of Warren Buffet. Well, I guess it works. I don't know if this will cause a significant hike on the price of tron but good news is good news afterall. You can't easily disregard its possible outcomes.

I agree. But you know what, the opposite could happen once he embrace crypto. Fiat enthusiasts might shift as well since one of their foundations already adopt crypto. In short, that would be the time of Fiat's fall down and the rise of Crypto *evil laugh Grin.

So this paid dinner was a way for Sin to pitch that TRON altcoin.I thought that he is going to talk about Bitcoin to Warren Buffet(and nothing else). That sneaky little Chinsese guy. Grin
I'm pretty sure this isn't going to end well and Buffet won't buy TRON or BTC,which might be good for the crypto world after all.We don't need more billionaires to turn into crypto whales and dictate the cryptocurrency prices.

He tries how to get bigger market with bitcoin and specially with his altcoin TRX, maybe when you looking many people lost much money for advertising did your mind why waste much money for ads, but its the most effective way how to promote bitcoin and altcoin to bigger investor and several months later his coin will be on the top price.

I can understand. But why Warren Buffet? Why not someone like Bill Gates or Richard Branson? Even Michael Bloomberg  or Elon Musk would have been a better choice. Buffet is known to be a fierce critic of Bitcoin and no amount of money from Sun is going to change that. As a proud Bitcoiner, it is hard for me to digest Justin Sun spending the money he earned from the TRX ICO on Warren Buffet.

So he think he can convert Buffet to invest in Cryptocurrency? I don't think so he cannot be bought by just a few millions this guy has a tons of it, if he wants to market his coin there are better ways but not a publicity like this that I doubt will yield results.

Didnt think buffett would ever accept bitcoin since he has been vocal about it in the past. But with coupling it with tron I think he couldnt refuse it since it was a gift during the chinese new year. The shilling of cryptos meeting aka.paid dinner was held on January 26th but the news just released a couple of hours ago via Sun's twitter account with photos of those who were in attendance. The other one I noticed was Charlie Lee the second to the left.

Price on coingecko is $0.02255306 up 11.8% but then again all of the crypto market had pump up in the past 24 hours of 9% or more.
look at justin, even though he is young but he has talent and can trigger wealthy investors like warren buffett is a very difficult thing to do by others but justin can make him to discuss about the development of cryptocurrency and justin also has a Tron platform that which can make the price of tron can be more expensive than the previous price because it gets support from warren buffett.

I'm very sure Warren Buffett. is a person who can give effect to everyone and even many investors who submit to him and follow what he suggests and hopefully he can really make the price tron to the moon.

Even famous people will change their mind when properly introduced to crypto. Though he has reservations when it comes to crypto, I guess he will change his stance once he learn the nature of it and how it feels to do some crypto transactions. The convenience alone will give him new perspective towards crypto. Let us see what will happen next. What his statement will be towards crypto this time?

I dont think warren is going to do anything with it ypu can probably consider that lost btc and tron.  Buffett has repeatedly stated he does not like crypto and I dont expect that to change just based on a random gift from justin sun.  He probably accepted it as a gesture it would be rude to not accept something in those situations.

I can't wait for someone to create an article and summarize this dinner. Justin said that he'll discuss what was being talked during the dinner.

A short list of claims Justin Sun made as to why he believes tron is better than ethereum.

#1  "Tron is 80 times faster than ethereum." Source: https://twitter.com/justinsuntron/status/1022950077638172672

#2  "Bittorrent is an integral component of tron." Source: https://twitter.com/BitTorrent/status/1021629735258841088

#3

Some might find this interesting. I haven't seen these claims discussed much, if at all.   Smiley

Warren Buffett has been pretty stiff about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies stating that they don't bring anything new in the table. And here goes Sun together with the permabull Charlie Lee, bringing forth the table and laying down facts and god knows whatever things they discussed on that dinner. Pretty sure it's about investment matters and private dealings and not necessarily about bitcoin and crypto but who knows?

If the best we can offer is a con artist such as Justin Sun and a fairly ok dude such as Charlie Lee, then it's hard to think of a reason for Warren Buffett to like anything about this space.

Nothing fundamentally interesting about Tron. It's just one of the many knockoffs that we will see come and go in the forthcoming years. No large scale institution wants anything to do with such coin. I'm pretty sure that Warren Buffett felt like he wasted his time with those crypto hippies. The only thing of value Warren Buffett ended up with is the money Justin Sun paid for the charity lunch.

Not always easy to refuse a gift, it's can also be considered impolite and offending to do it.

In fact, he repeated at that dinner that Bitcoin was useless and the blockchain technology isn't used correctly. I've read both articles posted and none is talking about a gift to WB. Did I miss something?

Another thing to add, Sun was invited upon winning an auction on eBay not after receiving an official invitation, that makes a difference.

...During the dinner, Buffett reportedly said that he didn't see any value in bitcoin ...

...Sun won a charity auction on eBay to have lunch with Warren Buffett last June...
